Psalm 90
Lord, you have been our dwelling placein all generations.
2 Before the mountains were brought forth,
or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
3 You return man to dust
and say, “Return, O children of man!”
4 For a thousand years in your sight
are but as yesterday when it is past,
or as a watch in the night.
5 You sweep them away as with a flood; they are like a dream,
like grass that is renewed in the morning:
6 in the morning it flourishes and is renewed;
in the evening it fades and withers.
7 For we are brought to an end by your anger;
by your wrath we are dismayed.
8 You have set our iniquities before you,
our secret sins in the light of your presence.
9 For all our days pass away under your wrath;
we bring our years to an end like a sigh.
10 The years of our life are seventy,
or even by reason of strength eighty;
yet their span is but toil and trouble;
they are soon gone, and we fly away.
11 Who considers the power of your anger,
and your wrath according to the fear of you?
12 So teach us to number our days
that we may get a heart of wisdom.
13 Return, O Lord! How long?
Have pity on your servants!
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love,
that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
and for as many years as we have seen evil.
16 Let your work be shown to your servants,
and your glorious power to their children.
17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us,
and establish the work of our hands upon us;
yes, establish the work of our hands!
10 The years of our life are seventy,
or even by reason of strength eighty;
yet their span is but toil and trouble;
they are soon gone, and we fly away.
Could be. The Star of David appeals to us - the inner warmth of Jesus indwelling. The Light of our soul. The Eternal.
Puzzles surround the Will of God. The Exodus is repeated in the life of young Jesus in exile in Egypt, precious time away from Israel. His People. And God says even in the Exodus - all people are His. His Children suffered 500 years of slavery and yet left with enough of Egyptian gold to make the entire Temple of gold. God made sure His People were paid for 500 years and then made sure they were in the desert to make gold unappealing. After they refused to just go one more step to claim the Promised Land - never before given to God's People.
Jesus arrives when the suburb of Syria, Judea, is infused with the most wealth the world would see until the Renaissance of 1400 A.D. And yet... the people of God are told in Acts Chapter 1 - salvation is not within their reach - but only within the Knowledge of God. Deep words. Of course, implying, our real freedom is within.
Nothing in this life is very perfect.
God tells us all of His Words are true. All things work for Good - for those who Love God - and work according to His Purpose. The equivalent is in Luke 2 and is always misquoted and yet truly is "“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
The internal salvation of God. Renews us each day. Telling us of our eternal freedoms.
Our Abba,
After Jesus' suffering was over, Jesus presented Himself to 500 of His beloved and gave many convincing proofs Jesus was alive. For forty days speaking of the Kingdom of God. Jesus was eating with His People. Jesus promised the Holy Spirit would arrive to live within them.
This same Jesus will come back in the same way we know Jesus went into Heaven.
We give thanks again, at Christmas, to see the image of a place for Jesus to be the Light of our center. Letting Jesus sweep us in the Plan of God, rejoicing in His Goodness. Today. This day matters to Jesus and we will take all of the sweetness of Today. The goodness of yesterday. The days we laugh in Proverbs 31.
Praying Joy for those we love, for the people God has given us. All the way up to the communion of saints through out eternity for Today.
Amen in Jesus.
