Abraham could be found
Oaks of Mamre
Psalm 15
O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent?
Who shall dwell on your holy hill?
2 He who walks blamelessly and does what is right
and speaks truth in his heart;
3 who does not slander with his tongue and does no evil to his neighbor,
nor takes up a reproach against his friend;
4 in whose eyes a vile person is despised,
but who honors those who fear the Lord;
who swears to his own hurt and does not change;
5 who does not put out his money at interest
and does not take a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things shall never be moved.
Bland and takin' it easy. Wasn't the style of Abraham and Winston Churchill. Both encountered harsh circumstance. Abraham would take up war to find Justice. Lay everything on the line. And knew, he was facing death to help the people he did.
When we get to be 40 ish, we decide this is it, this is the more permanent direction of life. And some will have a midlife crisis. Or later a life crisis. In our 60s, this is called, "Is this life worth leading? Is this meaningful life?"
This doesn't have to be when we discover this. Being bland tends to repress people. And in the 1990s, we were told not to offend anyone conversationally. Winston Churchill knew he could help his nation and he would move, change houses and neighborhoods and political sides. Whig and Tory. Churchill had a direction, he just didn't have a clear path to being followed. No agenda drove Churchill. He was for the improvement of his nation, achieved by both sides. Churchill acknowledged not everyone loved him. And said if we make enemies, it must be we stood for something.
Change, yet Spiritual permanence. A life worth leading! The Core of the Holy Spirit.
Today, we often yell or use harsh language to make the point. See Threats and hellish actions to feel sustained. The point is making a clear point and staying there. Being understood not to change. Psalm 15 is about being unchangeable to what God has placed in us. The unquenchable fire of the Holy Spirit.
Words matter, we can't throw pearls to pigs and hope the pearls are fine. Youth ministry says we have to earn the right to be heard; before planting a flower bed or vegetable garden, we make sure it isn't swept away by water or fire. Even insects. Our words shouldn't be thrown in, but placed where the trust and truth is.
We are in Dallas, visiting family and friends. In May, we placed $1,500 of new grass at the house my brother and I own, had belonged to our mom. Shared the overflow grass. During the showings of the house, someone hurt the sprinkler 3 ways. The sprinkler repairman I talked to said brown outs will set the sprinkler off. The grass is flat, dead. We received a lower offer. Give up? No, find new market information, fortify the fort and continue on and upward. Have we been rude to the people around us since 1977? Absolutely not, two sets of neighbors have had a lot of yard help from us in their Pandemic.
Our grass sharing neighbor said it wasn't the sprinkler set on the right Texas allowed days, it was new grass and the heat. Today, we had a stranger walk on the front porch and examine the 2 sets of sprinklers. And hurry away when I came to the window. It won't matter forever, the house is so pretty, God is good and it will sell.
And in this Love, we find we have the Joy for all seasons of our lives. And self-esteem for treating others well and appropriately. We have seen in our world, goodness is sometimes treated poorly. But the strength to risk being good, is the enduring strength to continue. The Post was chosen before reading the Scriptures. Climbing up and forward is better than being stuck to be put in less than a good place. The Good Fight to make a 'good' life is a meaningful life. Finding the Joy. Moving back to Joy. Humor.
Abba, Father,
We are praying for rain in all the areas with Heat Advisories
and for Europe as well. Fires out.
We ask the Gulf of Mexico will send us all plentiful rain.
Our Father, Who art in Heaven,
Hallowed Be Thy Name,
Thy Kingdom come,
Thy Will be done,
on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this Day!
Our Daily Bread.
Forgive us our Trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass
against us,
Lead us not into Temptation
Deliver us from evil,
For Thine is
The Kingdom!
The Power!
And the Glory!
Amen in Jesus Christ The Lord.
