John 14:21,22
Whoever does what is true comes to the light,
so that it may be clearly seen that
his works
have been carried out in God.
After this
Jesus and His disciples
went into the Judean countryside,
and He remained there with them
and was baptizing
Jesus was Baptizing? Why? According to Mark's Gospel, the 3rd Chapter, Jesus said for all righteousness. To welcome righteousness. The Gospels are filled with so many miracles. Chapters telling us, "Jesus healed them all." The whole large crowd would be healed of complex physical ailments. A renewed and healthy life.
Yet not everyone who came into the smaller towns and wilderness was lame, blind, deaf or leprous. Not everyone was poor. The Book of Acts records the people in Herod's own household were coming to know Jesus and His Word. Jesus tells us He was tired of the people who wanted to see the miracles and be fed, but really wanted to only receive and have a full stomach.
Jesus would have wanted all the people, His people, His Beloved to remain whole, seeing, hearing and clean. When Jesus said repent, Baptism is giving a sign for renewal. Renewed lives. New thoughts. Hope. Faith and Love.
Matthew 3
16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water.
At that moment, Heaven was opened,
and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove
and alighting on Him.
17 And a Voice from Heaven said,
“This is my Son, Whom I Love;
with Him I am well pleased.”
