The CDC has carefully tracked marriage and divorce for years. The surprising news is marriage fell so fast in 2020. No wedding plans due to lock down. The divorce rate for 2020, 21 and 22 has fallen about ten percent. And yet, marriage counselors say the mention of divorce as an option is about 30 percent more. Surprising news, good news, odd news.

The beginning of strife is like letting out water, so quit before the quarrel breaks 

  

I would wish this was a Christian marriage story, This is the True Story of my neighbor's Hindu Arranged Marriage:

They met at age 25 at the arranged wedding altar. Neither looked pleased. After the festivities were over, the groom asked the bride if she loved another. She said she did. He said I did as well. The groom said I have an idea that will either fix this or fix us. He said taking of virginity is unpleasant. And he had no desire to take something like that unless willingly given. He said I will be your brother and your best, best friend for the next two years. I will listen and fix whatever problem life brings you with complete loyalty and care for two years.

By then, I will be 27 years old. At that time, I will be educated very well and can earn enough money to divorce you and you can tell your parents later I beat you. She agreed.

And for two months the groom had to remind his bride not to tell her troubles to her mother-in-law, but her groom. Eventually, she told him and she said she was so surprised - he cared. And fixed. And helped. He had to remind his bride a few times that she was not so caring of his troubles.

They worked out how to help her support him correctly. And they had a second anniversary. The bride was taken to dinner and the groom was nervous. She asked him why. He said today we agree what will happen to us. She said she had forgotten. He wasn't especially pleased to hear that. And he said are we divorcing, or we will be married? And SHE SAID ARE YOU NUTS, WE ARE MARRIED. And he said - we are not really. And she said, well, I wondered when you'd get around to that.

On their 50th Anniversary, where a massive party gathered - the participants agreed - this was one of the Happiest Marriages they had ever seen. And the Groom spoke, he said, "This has been the happiest 48 years of my life!" And the wife said, "I've been happy for 50 Years!" The groom glared. The wife laughed. And their son said, "If only the world could experience that kind of marriage!"

Stressful times, emotions on the surface

The expectation for gifts, the experience of Christmas symbols, family dinners and meals, the kisses and hugs of family, friends and loved ones, the parade of kings ... are the many events that can generate intense emotions at Christmas. The most common are these:

Even when Angels of God appear, people God loves have doubts. Act badly. Zechariah didn't show up to greet Mary. He isn't even recorded. When Zechariah finally connects all that has happened to him, Mary isn't there.  Human growth isn't necessarily seen.  It's doubtful they wrote each other off as they experienced their Christmas.  Hope for each other.

1. Joy and illusion for the reunion with the family, for the motions, etc.

Herod was playing Joy and Illusion. This didn't go well for his family and his mind. Or those around him. The Old Testament records what we wouldn't today want to sing from the rooftops. Yet, the Message of Christmas and the Old Testament is a "Come as you are Prayer Life." If we can't be honest with God who we are, we are truly stuck and frozen. Unable to grow into His Light. God knew Aaron would come in as a Holy Priest and make a mess. God knew this of Abraham and the Disciples of Jesus.

2. Sadness due to absences, When a family member can no longer be with us, the children also experience sadness.

Jesus knew sadness when John the Baptist died, even if they had some words as John the Baptist faced death.  The feeding of the Multitudes and Jesus going to pray was probably Jesus giving John the Baptist a Memorial Service. That same part of Scriptures has Jesus raising Peter out of his doubts and the water. Ministry, Two By Two. Share the Ministry.

3. Angered at the break with routines and needs for the routines of children, they get used to doing what they want and when we set limits they get angry. The anger usually contrasts with the positive and idyllic emotions of the moment.

When Jesus and His Brothers got into a, "You think so much of yourself", "If you are so famous go out and be famous, go on" fight or disagreement, this was during one of the High Holy Days of Jesus' Life.  Jesus didn't egg them one, but Jesus didn't meet the jab by having His Mouth open and His head say mere words.  Jesus gave them the long loose lead rope of you go on.

4. Frustration, when your expectations are not met. Sometimes, we expect many things and do not have what they want or what we want.

Jesus experienced this when the 72 Disciples Left regarding Communion. And Jesus displayed the need to know what Peter would say. Peter had a rare moment when Peter could see the importance of Jesus and could offer support. 

5. Jealousy. With other family members and other children of the family appear, sometimes the children may feel jealous because of the attention received by the other children.

Judas is Jealous.  Proverbs 27:4 Wrath is cruel, anger is overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy?  

6. Apathy, sadness, and discouragement at the endless news and changes while trying to resume the daily routine.

Jesus was seen going across the Sea of Galilee, quite visibly doing His Father' work. A life of Prayer.  Diligence, even in the Life Jesus called Joy, was His example. Depression and aging take away the desire to fight to be in Life. Self-control is a gift of His Holy Spirit.  To see yourself as ready and prepared, is a Comfort and Teaching of the Holy Spirit.

The emotional contrast characteristic of other times.

Emotions are something natural that emerges in people, both positive and negative. It is normal to experience emotions and all of them fulfill their function. But in the diverse season there is a curious process that affects adults as well as children.

Romans 14:1-23

As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. 

Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind.

We have very intense emotions and there is often a great emotional contrast and a rollercoaster ride, which can leave us emotionally exhausted.

Jesus knew about stress. He fished. He prayed, He rested. Jesus spoke the truth and was merciful. God calls the Holy Spirit Comfort, Comforter and Teacher.

Negative emotions, are amplified, before the obligation to feel especially good in an idyllic time.

Tips to manage emotions 

1. Try to keep your routines. Even if you do different and special things and even if we have celebrations, it is important to maintain certain routines as much as possible. By removing the indicated days or the day that we have a scheduled activity or celebration, we keep (more or less) the schedules of going to bed, meals, etc.

2. Express your emotions and help them express theirs. Emotions are something natural and are part of people. It is good to express them and to name what happens to us inside.

3. Look for activities that help everyone to disconnect and relax like outdoor walks, readings, watch a movie.

4. Remember with joy those who are gone and appreciate who is with us, and help your children remember them like that.

5. Pay attention to your jealousy. When there are several children at home, we should try to avoid attitudes on our part that feed jealousy and dedicate time and space to each child. In the case that jealousy appears, sometimes it is inevitable, we will treat it naturally, we will avoid forcing them to repress them.

6. Be patient with everyone these days and do not skimp on signs of affection.

Abba, Father God,

By You all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible,

Jesus brings many sons to glory. 

For Jesus is come to our Father's glory with His angels, 

and He will reward each person according to what he has done.

We are remembering Good Prayer Blessed to God. 

Like Hebrews 11. For 20 years, we have seen Wayne donate 40 hours a week to Church Office, difficult and demanding work for Volunteer Time. Wayne's Gracious Gift. We have seen Dee run Altar Guild. Bible Study and Daughter's of the Cross.  We have seen Dee study St. Stephen's Ministry, work Pro-Life and take Amazing Father Francis and Judith MacNutt Prayer  Ministry Class. And in this Ministry Class we prayed and found our group alone prayed for a 2nd time mouth cancer patient, who graciously accepted prayer for the first time and arrived at surgery to find no oral cancer. Healed. Completely. We prayed for an 89-year-old Priest to stay forever in bed dying of heart failure, who got up and began to go 2 miles a day in exercise and make trips to Texas and the grocery store. We prayed Hurricane Ike wouldn't crush our houses with trees and found this last summer, our answered prayers held as I lost a Magnolia without damage and Dee lost her two huge Oaks without damage. Hurricane Ike saw a tornado in our backyard, trees flung East, South and West and didn't damage our home. Our friend lost the stairs to her home's garage apartment and no damage to their home. 

We prayed over knitted blankets and heard the comfort and healing the hospital patients found in the Lord Jesus and in our group's prayers. We prayed for Elliott to live and Elliott found remission, we prayed for total healing. Jesus heard us pray twice for financial restitution and found this 3 times. We prayed for Wayne to survive a botched pacemaker and he did. Jesus heard us pray for Wayne to survive his trauma for the hip operation and Wayne did well. Jesus heard us pray for Wayne's sudden bleeding eye and Jesus healed Wayne. Dee had a no big deal nose skin cancer and literally had half of her nose shaved off two summers ago like a skeleton. Dee's next two surgeries Jesus heard us all pray again 

and Jesus restored Dee's nose to a hundred percent of normal.

We pray for Dee who had a fall and went to the hospital

to recover all her good health.

Jesus has been hearing us pray in Amazing and Wondrous Ways.

 We ask Jesus today for those suffering,

who need His Help. His Love and Mercy.

Lord Jesus please heal, love, forgive, and heal them all

 in Your Love and Mercy. Amen.

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among

 those with whom He is pleased!”

Father God, help us to do the Good Works You have prepared us to walk in. 

For the ones we Love and the People You have given us. 

For our Churches, places of work, our states and Nation. 

The People who are Your Beloved, to ALL

cover them with Your Name in strength and mercy. 

We live abundantly on the Word of God, You have provided.

We Pray for the Republic.

We the People all have Family and Loved Ones 

we have fought and lived and died

for our Freedoms.

One Nation Under God

Isaiah 40 ~ He who brings out the starry Host one by one and calls forth each of them by name.

Comfort, comfort my people,

    says your God.

Do you not know?

    Have you not heard?

Has it not been told you from the beginning?

He sits enthroned

   And its people are like grasshoppers.

He stretches out the heavens like a canopy,

    and spreads them out like a tent to live in.

23 He brings princes to naught

    and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.

24 No sooner are they planted,

than he blows on them and they wither,

    and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.

27 Why do you complain, Jacob?

    Why do you say, Israel,

“My way is hidden from the Lord;

    my cause is disregarded by my God”?

The Lord is the everlasting God,

There are moments we read history, we rejoice or we weep. 

I was in tears during my freshman history class, sitting in the grand and beautiful Academic Building of Texas A&M University. I learned of Italy singing to one another morning rise and daybreak during the plagues. To remember the beauty of life, to live into the fragility and to endure through heartbreak to the finish and find Glory of Jesus.

After the War of the States, Charleston decided they would find joy in the devastation, vast loss of life, loss and sorrow. How would they live through the struggles? Acts 2, fellowship sharing, borrowing, fellowship and love. If one needed dinner plates, then the neighbors would come to dinner and if glasses were needed another neighbor would come to dinner.  

These days, my plates and my service ware have been invited without any inclusion. We need to rise above being too nice to too rude. On many levels. Find Love and we need to be able to give. Give shoes, clothes, pies, dinner, time to one another. When we are pressed financially, we can clean up and put forth the items others need.  Give to Church donation, Pro Life Donation and Education and Needs Donation.  We can all contribute to make life better for one another.

John 14:19 

Because I Live, You Also Will Live.

Genesis 49:29-50:14 ~ beyond the Jordan

 

Genesis 46:1

 So Israel took his journey with all that he had

Then he commanded them and said to them,

 "I am to be gathered to my people; bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite, ³⁰ in the cave that is in the field at Machpelah, to the east of Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite to possess as a burying place. 

³¹ There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife. There they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife, and there I buried Leah— ³² the field and the cave that is in it were bought from the Hittites." ³³ When Jacob finished commanding his sons, he drew up his feet into the bed and breathed his last and was gathered to his people.

Genesis 50

¹ Then Joseph fell on his father’s face and wept over him and kissed him. 

² And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father. So the physicians embalmed Israel. ³ Forty days were required for it, for that is how many are required for embalming. And the Egyptians wept for him seventy days.

⁴ And when the days of weeping for him were past, Joseph spoke to the household of Pharaoh, saying, 

"If now I have found favor in your eyes, please speak in the ears of Pharaoh, saying, ⁵ My father made me swear, saying, 'I am about to die: in my tomb that I hewed out for myself in the land of Canaan, there shall you bury me.' Now therefore, let me please go up and bury my father. Then I will return." ⁶ And Pharaoh answered, "Go up, and bury your father, as he made you swear."

Jacob, now embalmed for 40 days Egyptian style, surprises the future Nation of Israel arriving in Hebron with the incredible return, to be entombed.

⁷ So Joseph went up to bury his father. With him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his household, and all the elders of the land of Egypt, ⁸ as well as all the household of Joseph, his brothers, and his father’s household. Only their children, their flocks, and their herds were left in the land of Goshen. ⁹ And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen. It was a very great company.

¹⁰ When they came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan, they lamented there with a very great and grievous lamentation, and he made a mourning for his father seven days. ¹¹ When the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning on the threshing floor of Atad, they said, "This is a grievous mourning by the Egyptians." Therefore the place was named Abel-mizraim [mourning (or meadow) of Egypt]; it is beyond the Jordan.

¹² Thus his sons did for him as he had commanded them, ¹³ for his sons carried him to the land of Canaan and buried him in the cave of the field at Machpelah, to the east of Mamre, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite to possess as a burying place. ¹⁴ After he had buried his father, Joseph returned to Egypt with his brothers and all who had gone up with him to bury his father.

A man who wrestled with God, Jacob, wanted a blessing. Jacob should really, really, really, really, Really not have been named Israel. The man wrestled with God. So wrong. Look at Isaac and Rebekah. Prophetic child, prophetic marriage, blessed with twins. No concubines, no slaves told to bear children. Why isn't Israel Isaac instead of Jacob. Seems a reasonable question.

God felt Jacob was more interested in Him and in Blessing his children and grandchildren. Not just keeping the blessing to one son. Jacob felt he could make God's blessing go farther. More Love than the parents, who were uptight and critical.  Sarcasm and unreasonable, lack of love and gracious direction sounds unreasonable isn't a sign of the Holy Spirit. Ignoring children to favor others. Well... we digress into all are flawed.

Sincere fight for faith: Jacob went out as a great man. His funeral astonishing the people, his neighbors in Hebron, he left during famine.

Proverbs 16:7

When a man’s ways please the LORD,

 he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

An odd Scripture verse for Jacob and yet, in the Love, Mercy and Graciousness of God, we could say this of Jacob.

What is the fruit of Jacob's life today? So Very Much.

His tomb is the "second holiest site" for Jews (after the Temple Mount) and Christians and Muslims. All these faiths say by tradition the Cave of the Patriarchs is the burial place of three biblical couples: Abraham and Sarah; Isaac and Rebecca; Jacob and Leah.

Let's talk about the Reality of 2022 Halloween Season.  

Today, the News showed photos of what looked like candy and is actually deadly Fentanyl.

Why should we scare the United States 

Population of 332, 403, 650 million people
talking about the overdose of 91,000 people.  Seems unreasonable.

What is frightening is an invasion on even casual opioid use.

Fentanyl was involved in 82% of all opioid-involved deaths. 

The movie, "Kingsman: Golden Circle"  has an element of truth in the mixture.

When the Borders open like Genesis 46-49, there will be adjustments, especially when the Law has to catch up from being held back.

Halloween 2022 is a time to talk to the children, teenagers, college students and

those who use opioids by trick and in casual use. It's too easy to squeeze this into the mix. Fentanyl is easy to make and transport. 

This is a good year to examine your area and maybe use Trick or Trunk. 

Explaining most people are honest. But things are floating around until Security is approved again. Eat from people you know. Avoid Drugs.

Vote accordingly.

When the Chinese historically decided to get rid of Opium Addiction. It was a literal war, Opium War, Opium Dens were burned down. It's remarkable, thought provoking, the Fentanyl ingredients have been something the Chinese, today, have been battling. Fentanyl spread to Central America. 

Jacob faced so many off-topic situations in life. 

Theft. Family abuse. Flight and hide from Family. Abuse of employment by Family. Seeing gods worshiped. Multiple marriage. Enslaving slaves to have children. Fear of being killed by cheated brother. Starvation. Child death. Being conned. Leaving the Promised Land.

Jacob is an astonishing person to be held as Biblical Standards. And in this story, Jacob we see was depressed. Lack of Hope. Fearful. Cheated. Pressed. Starved. Poor. And the door was opened to him by God The Almighty. If Jacob can be God's Chosen, so can anyone needing help.  We need to speak to each other and allow the truth to be merciful.

Speaking the Truth is a Blessing. When spoken Mercifully. 

One of the major reasons for sobriety: We have to think past painful events in life and have all our brains to understand the hidden hope and solutions. To tell someone you love them in the honest conditions of life, is a little risky, but worth the potential harm and the potential gain.

Ephesians 4:13-16

13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 

15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, 

makes the body grow so that it 

builds itself up in love.

Friends don't let Friends fall into Fentanyl

If I were to be honest about my fear about our culture, I would be concerned we feel strong to be hateful and judgmental. Judgmental about goodness, about politics. I'm concerned about the loss of goodness and labeling of falseness as goodness. I'm concerned about the systems we trusted breaking down. Concerned, we are people without gift shops. We don't feel we can gift because we might need to pay for healthcare or bills.  I don't see any organization or system that isn't struggling or pretense. 

We have to speak up and speak with compassion.

Do I believe we will recover? Yes, I do. We have to believe God helps us. Believe in the best of each other. Ask each other for better goodness. 

Go where Love is possible.  Expect to be well treated and treat one another well. Speak up, with compassion. Be prepared to make changes to be within the lanes of Love. Signal as you change lanes. 

We used to go to a restaurant where the waiters were just jerks. And it became difficult to even get a glass of water. It became obvious to the owners, this wasn't service. And now this is one of our favorite places to go.

to find real Brotherhood
