St. Patrick, betcha, loved this verse.
Colossians 3:2
St. Patrick had his troubles. His slavery, the loss of family. Escaping to England with a bribe to the ship captain. Landing in England years later and feeling and being lost as to where he was. Leaving his family again. Being told to be a slave or sold again as a slave. His slaveholding family had loved him and fought for his freedom. Becoming a missionary when no one knew what a missionary was. Fighting the Church when he was never a cleric. Becoming a nationally beloved Priest without ever being a cleric.
Two men on television were recently debating what it meant to rid Ireland of the snakes. These snakes didn't shed and did have 2 legs. Druids who wanted Patrick dead. And loved to give human sacrifices to the peat bogs. Patrick brought written history of Ireland to the world and the Christian life beautifully to all of Ireland.
Deuteronomy 28:1-2
And if you faithfully obey the voice of the LORD your God,
being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.
And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you,
if you obey the Voice of the LORD your God.
and His child laughs at the time to come.
26 The child of God opens their mouth with wisdom,
and the teaching of kindness is on the tongue.
27 The child of God looks well to the ways of the household
and
28 The children rise up and call God's child blessed;
the spouse also, and receives the praises
