Galatians 6:9 ~ Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up








What would be the scariest of all the scenarios? 

If God created the world and left. The Deist Theory. Uncaring, uninvolved, maybe even angry or miffed all the time with you. Jesus was known to call to the people, those merely watching Jesus for a sign and speak to them by name and know their hearts. 

This season has been fearful and hopeful. Let's go further during Halloween to think about blessings, facts and Hope.





 Luke 18 

 And He told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. 

2 He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. 

3 And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ 

4 For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” 

6 And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. 

7 And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? 8 I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. 



 Then there is a companion idea of God, when we pray:


 Luke 11

 5 And he said to them, “Which of you who has a friend
 will go to him at midnight and say to him, 

‘Friend, lend me three loaves, 6 for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 

7 and He will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything’? (God is in His Heaven Deist, not concerned.)

8 I tell you, though He will not get up and give him anything because he is 
His friend, 
yet because of his impudence He will rise and give him whatever he needs. 

9 And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 

11 What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; 12 or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, 
how much more 
will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”


Now we have arrived at the Holy Spirit of the matter.


Mark 12:27
 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living

People always ask does the Bible have ghosts. God is the first Ghostbuster.  He has taken death and given life. Eternal life, the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.  When the beggar Lazarus met the rich man, we find they are alive. Any other examples?

Deuteronomy 18

9 “When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer 11 or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, 12 for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord.

 And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you. 
13 You shall be blameless before the Lord your God, 
14 for these nations, which you are about to dispossess, listen to fortune-tellers and to diviners. But as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do this.

Saul went to the witch of Endor, to have a chat with the dead prophet Samuel. Samuel made sure to let Saul know his very life, and his life of his good son, was now forfeit for going against what was good according to the Lord. Saul and his good son died that day.


The Book of Acts, Chapter 16 explains disorder, chaos, interrupting are not the Goodness of God and are another problem. Using God's Glory to mimic what is His, while seeking profit. When the Gifts of God are merely used for fundraising. We never see the men of God hacking for a dinner by mimicking the Gifts of God. The loss of a spirit is a problem to the serving girl.

Acts 16 also gives us an idea of the Power in the Highest Name of Jesus Christ.

Halloween is the celebration of Harvest. Hard work, celebration, worship. Halloween is mostly rooted in Christian beliefs and practices.  Halloween is more Christian than you'd think. The name 'Halloween' comes from "All Hallows' Eve", the evening before the Christian holy days of All Hallows' Day, All Saints' Day, on 1 November and All Souls' Day on 2 November.

Since the time of the early Church, major feasts in Christianity (such as Christmas, Easter and Pentecost) had vigils begun the night before, as did the feast of 'All Hallows'. These three days are collectively, "All hallow tide" and for honoring the saints and praying for recently departed souls. Commemorations of all saints and martyrs were held by several churches on various dates.


And so, I'd say this is a Word of God for this season: 

Galatians 6:9

 
 Let us not become weary in doing good, 
for at the proper time 
we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 












Abba, Father,

From Ghoulies and Ghosties,

Things that Go Bump in the night,
Good Lord, Deliver us!

Peace to the brothers, and 
love with faith from God the Father 
and the Lord Jesus Christ.

I love you, Lord, my strength.
I love you, O LORD, my strength,
    O LORD, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer.

I love you, Lord, my strength.
My God, my rock of refuge,
    my shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold!

Praised be the LORD, I exclaim,
    and I am safe from my enemies.

I love you, Lord, my strength.

The LORD lives!  And blessed be my rock!
    Extolled be God my savior.
You who gave great victories to your king
    and showed kindness to your anointed.

I love you, Lord, my strength.


We approach Thanksgiving. Psalm 18 is both the Passover Psalm and the Evening Prayer Psalm. Both celebrate Safety. Passover from survival, from what is scary out there. Knowing even what is frightening, is not frightening to the Lord God. And the Evening Prayer Psalm, being able to go outside the Town walls, in the evening, to attend Evening Prayer. Celebration of endurance to hope for the future.

The Lord, presenting these as part of the history, woven into recovery, is filled with assurance and love. The Psalm is presented as a Responsive Prayer. God is responding to the prayers of His Beloved.


Malachi 3

13 “Your words have been hard against me, says the Lord. But you say, ‘How have we spoken against you?’ 14 You have said, ‘It is vain to serve God. What is the profit of our keeping his charge or of walking as in mourning before the Lord of hosts? 15 And now we call the arrogant blessed. Evildoers not only prosper but they put God to the test and they escape.’”


16 Then those who feared the Lord spoke with one another. 

The Lord paid attention and heard them, and a Book of Remembrance was written before Him of those who feared the Lord and esteemed His Name. “They shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, in the day when I make up my treasured possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him. 18 Then once more you shall see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him.




Abba, Father God,

Bless us, we ask in the Highest Name of Jesus, as we speak with You in our hearts. 


And answer us as we set forth to do this Life. To please You. To be understanding of Your Guidance each day and in each conversation.

Your Lord's Prayer says, Give us this Day. Enable us to build this day and as we ask Jesus to pray with us, we will do the prayer of Your Righteousness 
and have Your ear and availeth much.


Proverbs 2

1 My child, listen to what I say,
and treasure my commands.
2 Tune your ears to wisdom,
and concentrate on understanding.
3 Cry out for insight,
and ask for understanding.
4 Search for them as you would for silver;
seek them like hidden treasures.

5 Then you will understand what it means to reverence the Lord,
and you will gain knowledge of God.

6 For the Lord grants wisdom!
From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

Dwell in me, Father God. Dwell in those I Love, Lord Jesus Christ.
 Dwell in this Nation and the Nations seeking You. 
Help us to seek You first. 
And to find and to become more Heaven on earth.
We pray to finish well.
Pray for the very ill, my mother.

In the Highest Name of Your Love and Jesus. 
We ask only in Jesus. 

We Pray for the Republic.
We the People all have Family and Loved Ones 
we have fought and lived and died
for our Freedoms.

We the People pray:
We pray for the Legislature Laws of this Nation to be Upheld
One Nation Under God
with
Liberty and Justice for All.

We pray for Truth.
† And the United States prays harder
and more often than many, many other countries.
Love covers a multitude of sins. For all nations and all people.

You have told us to always pray with Hope.

In The Blessed and Wonderful Name of Jesus
we shake off our fears
and we put our Hope and are enabled to have Joy. 
Let this Blessing Sweep and Fill this Nation and on to the
world seeking His Light.

Mark 6:14-29 ~ Whatever you ask Jesus †

Mark 6:14-29

 

14 King Herod heard of it, for Jesus' name had become known. Some said, “John the Baptist has been raised from the dead. That is why these miraculous powers are at work in him.” 15 But others said, “He is Elijah.” And others said, “He is a prophet, like one of the prophets of old.” 16 But when Herod heard of it, he said, “John, whom I beheaded, has been raised.” 

17 For it was Herod who had sent and seized John and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, because he had married her. 18 For John had been saying to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife.” 

19 And Herodias had a grudge against him and wanted to put him to death. But she could not, 20 for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and he kept him safe. When he heard him, he was greatly perplexed, and yet he heard him gladly.

21 But an opportunity came when Herod on his birthday gave a banquet for his nobles and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee. 22 For when Herodias's daughter came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his guests. And the king said to the girl, “Ask me for whatever you wish, and I will give it to you.” 23 And he vowed to her, “Whatever you ask me, I will give you, up to half of my kingdom.” 24 And she went out and said to her mother, “For what should I ask?” And she said, “The head of John the Baptist.” 25 And she came in immediately with haste to the king and asked, saying, “I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter.” 

26 And the king was exceedingly sorry, but because of his oaths and his guests he did not want to break his word to her. 27 And immediately the king sent an executioner with orders to bring John's head. He went and beheaded him in the prison 28 and brought his head on a platter and gave it to the girl, and the girl gave it to her mother. 29 When his disciples heard of it, they came and took his body and laid it in a tomb.

~ And he vowed to her, "Whatever you ask me, I will give you, up to half of my kingdom."

Salome only wishes she was part of the New Covenant, not giving into despair because we are the Easter People and Alleluia is our Song. A day not to have a prayer answered!


Why doesn't God always answer our prayers? 
John Chapters  14 to 17 says He will.


Salome could just blame it all on my roots
I showed up in dancing boots
And ruined our black tie affair

And I saw the surprise
And the fear in his eyes

And I toasted you

I'm not big on social graces
Think I'll slip on down to the Oasis

Well, I guess I was wrong
I just don't belong
But then, I've been there before

I'll just say goodnight

And I'll show myself to the door
with the platter
Hey, I didn't mean
To cause a big scene
Just give me an hour and then
Well, I'll be as high
As that ivory tower

That you're livin' in, Herodias,
'Cause I've got friends in low Herod places



Romans 8:28
 And we know that for those who love God, 
 for those who are called according to His purpose, 
all things are working together for good.

Salome probably had an idea that killing off John the Baptist wasn't really working His Purpose.
And yet, she did what was put in her path instead of fighting for right.

 Romans 8:26 
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. 
We do not know what we ought to pray for, 
but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

Salome doesn't even groan as she puts a holy man to death.


1 Thessalonians 2:4 
 But just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, 
not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts.

For you did not receive a spirit of slavery that returns you to fear, 
but you received the Spirit of sonship, 
by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!"

The Diatessaron (c. AD 160)
All Four Gospels

 ~ The Diatessaron, interpreted as “Harmony of Four” Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John yet placed in his own order by Tatian,  Christian writer from 160 A.D. Diatessaron combines 4 canonical Gospels into a single harmonious narrative.  Tatian preserved the wording of the Gospels, he put the verses in a different sequence.

Tatian was from Assyria and was known to live in Rome and then Tatian established a Mesopotamian school known to be recreated in Antioch, Cilicia and Pisidia.

How do we know the information in the Gospel is correctly done?

We arrive at this heartfelt belief by faith. 

Peter died in 64 AD in Rome. During his last stay in Rome, Mark had written the Gospel of Mark chapters the Romans wanted to learn and discuss the most. John, the Beloved Disciple, on Patmos in 90 AD discussed the 4 Gospels already written and known. This Gospel would have been written by c. 50 A.D.

Herodias and Antipas Herod would be only deceased by only a decade. 

Both Gospels of Matthew and Mark state the Herodias whom Herod Antipas married was the wife of Antipas' brother "Philip", a fact supported by Roman and Judean Historian General Josephus. Josephus indicated Herodias was the wife of Herod II (aka Philip I). Philip the Tetrarch rebuilt the city of Caesarea Philippi, calling it by his own name to distinguish it from the Caesarea on the sea-coast, which was the seat of the Roman government. 

'Salome'  Herod II (aka Philip I) was married to was historically possible a half-sister by that same name, a daughter of Herod the Great and his 8th wife Elpis.  This sibling Salome was born in ~14 BC, and so only five years younger than Herod Philip (a more realistic age gap).  Marriage to 1st cousins and uncles, however, was relatively common in the so-called Herodian dynasty.

Herodias isn't the main story of this Mark's Gospel, 6th Chapter. Yet, Herodias is a large moving component. Her departure from the confines of modern, upwardly mobile behavior in her 2 marriages becomes child abuse and manipulation, jealousy and then murder. This behavior puts Herodias into history. Evidently, Herodias has no other achievement.

God of All, uses this behavior to show the right and wrong seen in The Book of Judges, each man determines his own righteousness, can betray good intentions.  Herod Antipas liked to listen to the Sermons of John the Baptist. Herod Antipas understood John the Baptist was of the Holy Spirit.  Herodias offers Herod Antipas no real harbor and incites Herod Antipas to have his legacy become Murder of John the Baptist. It is the forefront of Herod Antipas's life. Of all their days, this day is what all 3 are remembered as their deliberate part of life.

This Chapter also is a lesson on when to say, "No!"  Jesus told us when to hate the actions of family.


Luke 14:25-33

25 Now great crowds accompanied him, and he turned and said to them,
 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.

 27 Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. 28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? 29 Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ 31 Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32 And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace.

 33 So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has
 cannot be my disciple.











Abba, Father, 


Abba, we see examples every day, mankind and man and me have fallen. It is the beauty and wonder of seeing where You are there. We have fallen. We need Jesus.


We have marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even winds and water, and they obey him!”



Only Jesus.

We ask Your Willing and Pouring Blessings for ourselves, the ones we Love. This Nation. The Nations trusting You. For the Children of God calling upon Jesus for more Heaven on earth.

Help us to love Thee more clearly, see Thee more dearly. Help us whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.

Dwell in us.
Help us to be Joyful to You!
We will finish well in Jesus.
We ask Your mercy on my mom, struggling with Covid.
We ask this for those we Love.

In Jesus Christ, we ask in Jesus and 
we will remain in You. Amen.
