What would be the scariest of all the scenarios?
If God created the world and left. The Deist Theory. Uncaring, uninvolved, maybe even angry or miffed all the time with you. Jesus was known to call to the people, those merely watching Jesus for a sign and speak to them by name and know their hearts.
This season has been fearful and hopeful. Let's go further during Halloween to think about blessings, facts and Hope.
Luke 18
And He told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.
2 He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man.
3 And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’
4 For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’”
6 And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says.
7 And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? 8 I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily.
Then there is a companion idea of God, when we pray:
Luke 11
5 And he said to them, “Which of you who has a friend
will go to him at midnight and say to him,
‘Friend, lend me three loaves, 6 for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’;
7 and He will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything’? (God is in His Heaven Deist, not concerned.)
8 I tell you, though He will not get up and give him anything because he is
His friend,
yet because of his impudence He will rise and give him whatever he needs.
9 And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
11 What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; 12 or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more
will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
Now we have arrived at the Holy Spirit of the matter.
Mark 12:27
He is not the God of the dead, but of the living
People always ask does the Bible have ghosts. God is the first Ghostbuster. He has taken death and given life. Eternal life, the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. When the beggar Lazarus met the rich man, we find they are alive. Any other examples?
Deuteronomy 18
9 “When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer 11 or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, 12 for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord.
And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.
13 You shall be blameless before the Lord your God,
14 for these nations, which you are about to dispossess, listen to fortune-tellers and to diviners. But as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do this.
Saul went to the witch of Endor, to have a chat with the dead prophet Samuel. Samuel made sure to let Saul know his very life, and his life of his good son, was now forfeit for going against what was good according to the Lord. Saul and his good son died that day.
The Book of Acts, Chapter 16 explains disorder, chaos, interrupting are not the Goodness of God and are another problem. Using God's Glory to mimic what is His, while seeking profit. When the Gifts of God are merely used for fundraising. We never see the men of God hacking for a dinner by mimicking the Gifts of God. The loss of a spirit is a problem to the serving girl.
Acts 16 also gives us an idea of the Power in the Highest Name of Jesus Christ.
Halloween is the celebration of Harvest. Hard work, celebration, worship. Halloween is mostly rooted in Christian beliefs and practices. Halloween is more Christian than you'd think. The name 'Halloween' comes from "All Hallows' Eve", the evening before the Christian holy days of All Hallows' Day, All Saints' Day, on 1 November and All Souls' Day on 2 November.
Since the time of the early Church, major feasts in Christianity (such as Christmas, Easter and Pentecost) had vigils begun the night before, as did the feast of 'All Hallows'. These three days are collectively, "All hallow tide" and for honoring the saints and praying for recently departed souls. Commemorations of all saints and martyrs were held by several churches on various dates.
And so, I'd say this is a Word of God for this season:
Galatians 6:9
Let us not become weary in doing good,
for at the proper time
we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Abba, Father,
From Ghoulies and Ghosties,
Long-legged Beasties,
and
Things that Go Bump in the night,
Good Lord, Deliver us!
Peace to the brothers, and
love with faith from God the Father
and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace to all who love our Lord Jesus Christ with an undying love.
Dwell in us, Abba,
Help us to delight You.
Dwell in those we Love.
Help us to finish well.
You make all things new, in Jesus Christ.
Bless those suffering
in this season of historic
Pandemic shaken Lava Lamp Souls.
Help, comfort, bless, protect, guide
and never let go of those suffering.
Thank You for the prayers for my mother, Anne, on morphine, in Hospice.
Your Love,
Your Promises,
all in Jesus Christ
keep us forever and ever.
Alleluia.
Revelation 21:5
Behold, I make all things new
