I love the mornings when the Post arrives as I brush my teeth. To quote Elvis, "Oh Happy DAY!" The offstage recording of this song of Elvis' is just magnificent. As casual and glorious as the Lord Himself.
1 John 4:7
Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God.
Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
1 John 4:16
And we have come to know and believe the love that God has for us.
God is love; whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
Psalm 145:8-9
The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.
The Lord is good to all; He has compassion on all He has made.
Matthew 9:36
When he saw the crowds, He had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
Mark 10:18-27
18 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.
19 You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’”
20 And he said to him, “Teacher, all these I have kept from my youth.”
21 And Jesus, looking at him, loved him,
and said to him,
“You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
22 Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
23 And Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, “How difficult it will be for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God!”
24 And the disciples were amazed at his words.
But Jesus said to them again, “Children, how difficult it is to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”
26 And they were exceedingly astonished, and said to him, “Then who can be saved?”
27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man it is impossible,
but not with God.
For all things are possible with God.”
20 And they brought the boy to him. And when the spirit saw him, immediately it convulsed the boy, and he fell on the ground and rolled about, foaming at the mouth.
21 And Jesus asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?”
And he said, “From childhood. 22 And it has often cast him into fire and into water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”
23 And Jesus said to him,
“‘If you can’!
All things are possible for one who believes.”
24 Immediately
the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”
Jesus did. Jesus does all things well.
Matthew 8:1-3
When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him. 2 Suddenly a leper came and knelt before Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing,
You can make me clean.”
3Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am willing,”
He said. “Be clean!”
And immediately
his leprosy was cleansed.
Matthew 14:14
Jesus got out of the boat, and when he saw the large crowd, his heart was filled with pity for them, and he healed their sick.
Luke 7:13
When the Lord saw her, his heart overflowed for her and he said,
“Don’t cry.”
Luke 6:36
Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
Blessed are You Lord God. In Jesus. Amen.
One of the most ancient of Christian inscriptions,
"God fishes among the Living!"
