Psalm 145

A Song of Praise. Of David.

I will extol you, my God and King,
and bless your name forever and ever.
2 Every day I will bless you
and praise your name forever and ever.
3 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,
and his greatness is unsearchable.

4 One generation shall commend your works to another,
and shall declare your mighty acts.

5 On the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.
6 They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds,
and I will declare your greatness.
7 They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness
and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.

8 The Lord is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 The Lord is good to all,
and his mercy is over all that he has made.

10 All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord,
and all your saints shall bless you!
11 They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom
and tell of your power

12 to make known to the children of man your mighty deeds,
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures throughout all generations.

The Lord is faithful in all his words
and kind in all his works.
14 The Lord upholds all who are falling
and raises up all who are bowed down.
15 The eyes of all look to you,
and you give them their food in due season.
16 You open your hand;
you satisfy the desire of every living thing.

17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways
and kind in all his works.

18 The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
19 He fulfills the desire of those who fear him;
he also hears their cry and saves them.
20 The Lord preserves all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.

21 My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
and let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.

Psalm 145:17-21 ~ my mouth will speak the praise of the Lord

 Roman roads last. For Good Reason.  The details are serious.

Psalm 145:17-21

17 The Lord is righteous in all his ways
and kind in all his works.

18 The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.

19 He fulfills the desire of those who fear him;
he also hears their cry and saves them.

20 The Lord preserves all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.

21 My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
and let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.

Acts 22:17-29

17 “When I  (Paul) had returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, I fell into a trance 18 and saw him saying to me, ‘Make haste and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not accept your testimony about me.’

19 And I said, ‘Lord, they themselves know that in one synagogue after another I imprisoned and beat those who believed in you. 20 And when the blood of Stephen your witness was being shed, I myself was standing by and approving and watching over the garments of those who killed him.’

21 And he said to me, ‘Go, for I will send you far away to the Gentiles.’”

22 Up to this word they listened to him. Then they raised their voices and said, “Away with such a fellow from the earth! For he should not be allowed to live.”

23 And as they were shouting and throwing off their cloaks and flinging dust into the air, 24 the tribune ordered him to be brought into the barracks, saying that he should be examined by flogging, to find out why they were shouting against him like this.

25 But when they had stretched him out for the whips, Paul said to the centurion who was standing by, “Is it lawful for you to flog a man who is a Roman citizen and uncondemned?”

26 When the centurion heard this, he went to the tribune and said to him, “What are you about to do? For this man is a Roman citizen.”

27 So the tribune came and said to him, “Tell me, are you a Roman citizen?”

And he said, “Yes.”

28 The tribune answered, “I bought this citizenship for a large sum.”

Paul said, “But I am a citizen by birth.”

29 So those who were about to examine him withdrew from him immediately, and the tribune also was afraid, for he realized that Paul was a Roman citizen and that he had bound him.

There is a real seriousness to Roman road planning. The effects 2,000 years and more are rather amazing. More Roman road was discovered this last year in Israel. It was a High School Jewish Youth group spending the summer discovering about 2.6 miles of Roman road complete with coins of antiquity. The road was near, but not exactly to/from Bethlehem and went to Jerusalem.

So what are the details other than what we easily see?

How is God building these events in History?

These are the years that a donkey is well considered. Donkeys are amazingly affectionate and loyal.

Horses were more dramatic. To join the Roman army, social and wealth ranks were considered. The Gospels and early Acts mention Centurions. But a Military Tribune is specially appointed. A member of the equestrian rank in society. Each Legion had 6 Tribunes appointed. Each legion was composed of about 5,500 men, all professional soldiers who signed on for terms lasting 25 years.

In each Legion, ranked above the centurions were six tribunes. These were men from the equestrian class, the second highest class in the Roman aristocracy, underneath the senatorial class. One tribune was senior in rank to the other five, and was second in command of the legion; he was called the tribunus laticlavius, and was appointed to the post by the provincial governor. Many times Tribunes were about to run for election in the Roman Senate.

There was no Legion stationed in Jerusalem, Pontius Pilate was only the rank of Equestrian so he could not garrison a full legion under his command. Jerusalem was garrisoned by Cohors II Italica, it was only one Auxiliary cohort. Another, probably, at Caesarea.

Each of these auxiliary units would have been commanded by a tribune. There are 10 cohorts in a Legion and Judea had two cohorts.

Other opinions state: two cohorts were based in Jerusalem, one at the Antonia fortress and the other at the old palace, with another of the cohorts being based at Caesarea. Probably there was only two tribunes. When a legion is missing two Tribunes to auxiliary units - trouble is probably expected.

Judea was a suburb to Syria.

Our God is certainly making the Path of Paul memorable. The details are serious.

God has known for some time, Jesus revealed, The Church of Jesus was going to begin in Rome.
So Paul is meeting probably two Tribunes of the Equestrian Rank, since Pilate is equestrian. - these tribunes will probably run for the Roman Senate. In sixteen years, Claudius and Nero.

Tiberius Claudius Nero. Stepson of Augustus, (14–37)
Caligula, grandnephew of Tiberius (37–41) first Emperor god of Roman claims, few real records of Caligula survived, but these were unfavorable mostly.
Claudius, uncle of Caligula (41–54)
Nero, stepson of Claudius (54–68)

Christians started having problems with Judea during Caligula declaring himself a Deity. "Caligula" (meaning "little [soldier's] boot", the diminutive form of caliga) from his father's soldiers. You can bet the Tribunes were asked about their experiences. Three historians record there was a long letter from Pilate to Claudius about Jesus on Good Friday. Lost in history.

God is making sure Paul is going to meet Governor Felix. Governor Felix is correctly called Claudius Felix. His brother was a slave, brought up to freedman to be Secretary of the Treasury for Emperor Claudius. Felix is freed by Claudius and supported by him. He marries Herod Agrippa's daughter, who divorced a king to marry him.

What would seem to Paul's friends as a really incredible disaster is God's Plan.

Mark 4:39-41

39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

Paul met several storms. One was a shipwreck. All of the storms were in God's Plan.

Abba,

When Jesus went with Peter, Andrew and Phillip

Mark 8
22 And they came to Bethsaida. And some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him. 23 And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, “Do you see anything?” 24 And he looked up and said, “I see people, but they look like trees, walking.” 25 Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

26 And he sent him to his home, saying, “Do not even go to village.”

Jesus certainly was healing the man to avoid trouble. We do well to seek peace! With Your Help we will find Peace!

Father God, we ask You to Give us This Day all our days! For Your Kingdom, Power and Glory!

We Thank You for the Joy Jesus has given us to ask more of Your Good Will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven!

We would ask Your Blessings every day. To cover us and those we love in Jesus and His Name. We would have The Living Water of Jesus flow over all those You have given us. Believing You will send the Holy Spirit to sweep our Nation in Your Love and care as we Trust in You. Knowing Your Beloved Children pray in the Name of Jesus covering Your Good Creation daily.

In Jesus we will Rejoice. Amen.

Psalm 27 ~ Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me!

Psalm 27

The Lord is my light and my salvation;
     whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold [refuge] of my life;

    of whom shall I be afraid?
When evildoers assail me
    to eat up my flesh,
my adversaries and foes,
    it is they who stumble and fall.

Though an army encamp against me,
    my heart shall not fear;
though war arise against me,
    yet [in this] I will be confident.

One thing have I asked of the Lord,
    that will I seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
    all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord
    and to inquire [meditate] in his temple.

For he will hide me in his shelter
    in the day of trouble;
he will conceal me under the cover of his tent;
    he will lift me high upon a rock.

And now my head shall be lifted up
    above my enemies all around me,
and I will offer in his tent
    sacrifices with shouts of joy;
I will sing and make melody to the Lord.

Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud;
    be gracious to me and answer me!
You have said, “Seek [plural for seek] my face.”
My heart says to you,
    “Your face, Lord, do I seek.”

     Hide not your face from me.
Turn not your servant away in anger,
    O you who have been my help.
Cast me not off; forsake me not,
     O God of my salvation!
10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me,
    but the Lord will take me in.

11  Teach me your way, O Lord,
    and lead me on a level path
    because of my enemies.
12  Give me not up to the will of my adversaries;
    for false witnesses have risen against me,
    and they breathe out violence.

13 I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord
    in the land of the living!
14  Wait for the Lord;
     be strong, and let your heart take courage;
    wait for the Lord!

Trouble always sounds like danger.
During our years we attended the Catholic Church, we prayed against the glamor of sin. I don't personally have a threshold for sin as glamor. Any more than I'd ever want to do drugs or become an alcoholic. I would say the trouble in my life is having times when boredom is pervasive. Perhaps I will always miss college. If you are bored in college, there is always someone nearby to popcorn with at 2 a.m. or go to IHOP or anything else you can think of.

Loneliness is a danger. It has been discussed at our house as being surrounded by people and feeling cut off. It has been discussed as the phone not ringing. It is caused by trying to please people who can't be pleased. It is caused by being someone who can't be pleased.

I've read articles of the rich and famous saying flying to Paris to attending an amazing event can be dull and lifeless.

It has to be me, me, me.  And it has to do with being part of team. Family. At some point we all have to say, LORD, it isn't all about me. I don't believe in suffering without speaking up. I don't believe in relentlessly beating the same old problem. And yet. Some days are about being brave and enduring.

Blessed to pray as all people around the world lift up prayers in the Name of Jesus

Matthew 5:16
Let your light shine before others
give Glory to our Father in Heaven

Abba,

Today, I have a prayer request for our air conditioner and seeing old friends this next week. Recovering from this headache, sinus and tiredness.

We believe as we put out our hands, You, Father God knows what we need and we will see goodness in the land of the living.  And as we put out our hands we believe and saying to You, Father God, here I am - send me.

Help us to be a loving heart when the time comes and not the cold heart of the perpetually introspective. Here is this path Father God, help to walk it in joy and hope. Help our adversaries not to be our pride, our unwillingness to put ourselves out in ways that really would please You. And our willingness to stay on a level path that isn't the level path You'd have for us.

Help us to have the wisdom when to speak up, the Holy Spirit within us to be a positive force, and joy to remain in silence learning gratitude. Give us courage to be change and patience to be loving.  Help us to truly nourish the people You have given in our lives.

In the name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen

 Romans 12:9
Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.

Luke 18:38-43
And he cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 39 And those who were in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 40 And Jesus stopped and commanded him to be brought to him. And when he came near, he asked him, 41 “What do you want me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, let me recover my sight.” 42 And Jesus said to him, “Recover your sight; your faith has made you well.” 43 And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

2 Corinthians 8:8
I say this not as a command, but to prove by the earnestness of others that your love also is genuine.

Hebrews 10:23-25
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering,
for he who promised is faithful.

24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another,
and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Psalm 41 ~ Blessed is the one

Psalm 41

A Psalm of David.

Blessed is the one who considers the poor!
In the day of trouble the Lord delivers him;
2 the Lord protects him and keeps him alive;
he is called blessed in the land;
you do not give him up to the will of his enemies.

3 The Lord sustains him on his sickbed;
in his illness you restore him to full health.

4 As for me, I said, “O Lord, be gracious to me;
heal me, for I have sinned against you!”
5 My enemies say of me in malice,
“When will he die, and his name perish?”
6 And when one comes to see me, he utters empty words,
while his heart gathers iniquity;
when he goes out, he tells it abroad.
7 All who hate me whisper together about me;
they imagine the worst for me.

8 They say, “A deadly thing is poured out on him;
he will not rise again from where he lies.”
9 Even my close friend in whom I trusted,
who ate my bread, has lifted his heel against me.
10 But you, O Lord, be gracious to me,
and raise me up, that I may repay them!

11 By this I know that you delight in me:
my enemy will not shout in triumph over me.
12 But you have upheld me because of my integrity,
and set me in your presence forever.

13 Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting!
Amen and Amen.

When God hold us, David and then Solomon's, Temple would not be able to hold even God's Robe, He meant this kindly. So Kindly as Solomon opened the Temple with prayer and Priests, The Temple filled with a cloud we could see in Hubble Telescopes.

History barely holds His Robe as well. The Messiah was occurring all over Israel. Isaiah told us Nations would arrive at His Brightness and we find the Magi arrive. Wise Men seeking Jesus.

We find as the Gospels open ~
Jesus is consecrated to God in His Holy Temple. We meet Simeon and Anna proclaiming the Holy Spirit. The Essenes began leaving the Temple during and before the Life of Jesus. The Dead Sea Scrolls are from the Essenes and are from the last 3rd Centuries B.C. and the first Century A.D. The Essenes said over and over life was coming to an end in Israel soon. When Herod wanted to pick the priests and marry his living brother's wife, the Essenes were out of the Temple. Proclaiming it defunct of the Holy Spirit. Now, Jesus, disagreed and Jesus taught many times in the Temple. But the Essenes were right on some levels. Israel/Judea/suburb of Syria in the eyes of the Roman Empire was destroyed in 70 A.D., when the natural life of Jesus would have ended. Father God was not going to make null and void the life and healing ministry of Jesus Christ and His eternal forgiveness on His Cross.

We know about Hanukkah and the Davidic Line, how did we end up with the Hanukkah miracle being so very celebrated and the Herods?

Hasmonean was the family name of the rebel leader and priest, Mattathias, who began to throw off Seleucid rule. Upon his death his sons continued the rebellion and were eventually successful in gaining Jewish autonomy under the Seleucids and then, with the disintegration of the Seleucid Empire, full Jewish independence. Simon (brother of Judah Maccabee and son of Mattathias) was the first Hasmonean ruler of an autonomous state. The Hasmoneans are also called Asmoneans. The name Hasmonean comes from the Hebrew word chashman (“wealthy”). According to Josephus, a priest named Chashman, from the family of Jehoiarib (cf. 1 Chronicles 24:7), was the ancestor of the Hasmoneans. Their history is found in the works of Josephus and the apocryphal books of 1 and 2 Maccabees.

Hanukkah is the miracle of 'Light' allowing Simon (brother of Judah Maccabee and son of Mattathias) to be able to withstand Seleucids who wanted to sacrifice to Zeus in "The Temple". The Victory was miraculous. It was truly pretty near perfect the call to beat plowshares into weapons.

Under Hasmonean rule, the kingdom expanded its borders, covering an area almost as large as the nation had under King Solomon. John Hyrcanus captured Transjordan, Galilee, Samaria and Idumea (Edom). His son Aristobulus I was the high priest and the first Hasmonean to take the title “king.” However, political intrigue and infighting followed, and finally civil war erupted.

The Hasmonean dynasty lasted about 80 years from about 140 to 63 BC.

 Herod's Jerusalem Palace, then and now

The Herods married in. And were found to be extremely violent.
The Herods, Roman Educated and of Samaritan (3 Tribes of Jacob surviving the Babylonian Capture - the Remnant) descent and related to Cleopatra and Arsinoë IV (her DNA was recently discovered) when her sister then exiled to the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus in Roman Anatolia, but she was executed there by orders of triumvir Mark Antony in 41 BC at the behest of Cleopatra.

 Herod created the atmosphere Essenes wanted to escape. Herod named Caesarea as he ran his brown nose campaign.

We are truly a world always having the Trouble Jesus said we would have - echoing and relating all over the Globe, even before the Bronze Age.

Cave Four of the Dead Sea Scrolls is famous for being the most photographed. The contents are not as famous because they are from the Hasmonean era.

The Signs of the Messiah: 4Q521

These dry, obscure pieces of Papyrus are the Essenes (*Correctly predicting their own deaths in 70 AD) recording history they were deathly afraid would be lost forever. The History of the amazing recovery from destruction of the Second Temple by Nebuchadnezzar II. This is The Remnant God Promised.

Gutenberg Psalm

How does our Psalm 41 relate to the Dead Sea Scrolls?

[the hea]vens and the earth will listen to His Messiah ["anointed one"], and none therein will stray from the commandments of the holy ones.

Seekers of the Lord, strengthen yourselves in His service!
All you hopeful in (your) heart, will you not find the Lord in this?

For the Lord will consider the pious (hasidim) and call the righteous by name.

Over the poor His spirit will hover and will renew the faithful with His power.

And He will glorify the pious on the throne of the eternal Kingdom.
He who liberates the captives, restores sight to the blind, straightens the b[ent]
And f[or] ever I will cleav[ve to the h]opeful and in His mercy...
And the fr[uit...] will not be delayed for anyone.
And the Lord will accomplish glorious things which have never been as [He...]
For He will heal the wounded, and revive the dead and bring good news to the poor

Psalm 41

Blessed is the one who considers the poor!

Not give him up to the will of his enemies.

sustains him on his sickbed;

restore him to full health.

die, and his name perish?

Slander

Even my close friend in whom I trusted
my enemy will not shout in triumph over me.

The Lord has a very different view of Poverty. Illness, war, enmity, slander, emotional hurt.
Struck down and not destroyed.

Israel.

2 Corinthians 12:19

It is in the sight of God that we have been speaking in Christ, and all for your upbuilding, beloved.

Romans 15:4-13

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.

5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6 so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Abba,
We ask Your blessing upon ourselves, the ones we Love, the people You have given us. This Nation. Peace for all.

Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

2 Corinthians 4:16
So we do not lose heart

Our Amen is in Jesus.

The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
