Mark 9:21-29 ~ How Long Has This Been Going On

Mark 9:21-29

21 Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?”

“From childhood,” he answered. 22 “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.”

23 “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”

24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe;
help me overcome my unbelief!”

25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.”

26 The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.”

27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.

28 After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?”

29 He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer."

Jesus didn't intend for any of us to remain deaf and mute. And the first question of this portion of Scripture about illness asks,  "How long has this been going on?" A paraphrase.

Jesus asks the man to take a look at the history of ____ illness.  The Light of the world, Light of mankind, Light of Heaven, Light of Nations is clarifying the situation.

The truth is, illness has a wide range of descriptions and wellness not as many. We base future performance on past studies of work, kindness, ethics, compassion, humor, drive, coolness, ego, Christianity, money, tenacity,  cruelty masquerading as composure élan, expression, charisma, glibness, status, sympathy, family, background, clothing, honesty, sincerity, good lying, education, being verbose, meticulous criticism, fear, jealousy, love, care giving, empathy, interest, interesting, probability and gut feelings. All these factors and more are the 90% of communication being non-verbal.

Jesus is God. Most people would run from the father and the son with unusual realities.

With Jesus standing next to the hopeless, the crowd constantly following Jesus is gathering. The Messiah is going to bring Healing. Jesus is going to Reveal God Again.

Jesus could recognize this extremely unique situation will generate interest. The Depths of reality, down the mountain, from the Heights of Visiting with God Himself and notables. Right after Transfiguration.  Jesus also knew millenniums would look at this and think, "Days will come..." Jesus isn't here to fight for the almost hopeless in person.

And then we reach into faith. The ability to find our blessings on days when times are tough.
The ability to find joy. The faith given to us by our Father to hold on to Truth. The faith to pull up with Jesus. Jesus, who explains He is still with us.  By Prayers. Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.  The Only Son of God can take what is outside our reference points and make Hope. In God, there is no disappointment in forever.

Abba, Father,

You have told us Boldly and With Confidence
Draw Near to Your Throne.

Jesus told us You long to gather us to You
tenderly like a Hen with chicks.

And yet we know disappointments in life and sometimes feel unsure
to pray. And we know Jesus tells us we think of Unrighteous Judges.

Prayer is sometimes avoided because
Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
And we don't always feel Rock solid.

And we have to Rely on You. To Pray. The work of mankind is to Believe in Jesus.
You have given this, knowing we know what work is.

We learn as we pray more and more: those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

But when we are challenged to find inner resources,
we don't have available, we can cry out to You.
Steadfast Love, “I do believe;
help me overcome my unbelief!”

When Jesus sees us,
He will have compassion on His Lamb.

and in Jesus we will finish well:

You raise Your Countenance upon us
and smile, Beloved.

Peter could pray so well:
“Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life."

The Gates of Heaven never close. You are working, Father,
and so is Jesus.

We cast our cares upon You,
You care for us.

Thank You, Jesus. And please.
Amen.

John 12:1-8 ~ with Him †

John 12:1-8

Six days before the Passover, Jesus therefore came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.

2 So they gave a dinner for Him there. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those reclining with Him at table.

3 Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

4 But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was about to betray him), said, 5 “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” 6 He said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and having charge of the moneybag he used to help himself to what was put into it. 7 Jesus said, “Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of my burial. 8 For the poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me.”

Jesus is the center. Lazarus, Mary and Martha know Jesus is the center. Only the man who turns away to pursue his own interests is  the one interested in the money.

What does Scripture say about funds and money
Paul discussed funds. He was a tentmaker. Peter owned a fleet of fishing ships. Peter's house was large and well-placed. Samuel had an Estate. So did Jeremiah. David and Solomon had tremendous personal wealth. It isn't that horrible money is discussed. No, Jesus is the Teacher in the Holy Spirit. It is that Judas is interested in the glory of earth, the association of the Temple officials. Judas is interested in Judas' glory.  Paul certainly knew the Temple officials. Gamaliel was a favorite of Paul's during a very significant Temple education. And Paul was taught where his heart should go. Paul did put his heart to Jesus.

The Brown Doors are the Nicanor Gate
with the Steps. The Wall is Secure and not open.
The 3rd photo is incorrect. Yet pretty!

The widow, who put in her coins, let the trumpets of the Temple carry the noise. All offerings were put down the trumpets - it was majestic, made an incredible noise, and kept hands away from the coins going down the shoots. The trumpets were located where the Women's Court became the Court of Israel. The steps leading up to the Gate of Nicanor.

The Gate of Nicanor is a pivotal point in Israel's History.

Josephus wrote every time the Temple was destroyed - Solomon built Lord's Temple and the Temple Herods worked on for 70 years, the Gate of Nicanor was where money trumpets existed. The Nicanor meaning is The People of Victory. The Nicanor Gate is something very interesting. Josephus explains this gate - - - where the Gates opened from being locked to allow the invaders in the 2 times in Destruction of the Temple. The Gates were locked and priests and Temple officials hid behind the gates as the Destroyer approached. Josephus reports a miraculous event. The Hand of God unlocked the Gate of Nicanor.  Meaning, the destruction of the Temple was in God's Hands.  Yes, people screamed.

It is up to us to make our hearts remain open to God.

Jesus tells us in the Gospels, He is not the most successful minister. In fact, Jesus said that His Children, who could come later, would show greater works than Jesus. Jesus is not so concerned by works, Jesus is concerned with the heart and soul open to Father God's Love. God of Love. Jesus dealt with Judas, with the 72 disciples who ran away, with the man of 38 years who was ungrateful for the healing. He dealt with nine lepers. And Jesus is Love. Jesus loved anyway.

Jesus told the mourning women as He went to his death, "Days would come." And the generation after Jesus would find the new lame did not walk, after Jesus ascended. The blind, who did not meet Jesus, did not see. The deaf did not hear. And instead of leaving them to what they deserved, that generation found this:

John 1

The true light, which gives light to everyone, had coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, yet the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own people did not receive him.

And yet to all who did receive Jesus, who believed in His name, Jesus the Christ of God gave the right to become Children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

God's Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory,
glory as of the only Son  from the Father,
full of grace and truth.

For from His fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. In the prayers of the Apostles. Today, 2/3 rds of Christians tell The Pew Report, they know of a miracle, only explained by God from their prayers.

For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name.

Your Kingdom come,
Your Will be done,
on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we also have forgiven those who trespass against us,
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

As Your beloved disciple John found,
Yours is the Kingdom,
the Power
and the Glory.

Abba, Father,

When we believe in the Highest Name of Jesus,
we know Jesus covers us in His Righteousness.
We call on two parts of the Trinity, and the Holy Spirit is there with us - making two or more gathered in His Name.

We recognize we are transitory and see the unseen as eternal.
Saying His will in our temporary state - mortality
is good.

His will for this time on earth - we accept. For good reason. We were built to pass to death. Jesus gives Life.
We are honoring the belief - His Good.

Daily Bread - Jesus is the Bread of Life. Our lives rely upon His Word.
Man lives and the universe is upheld by God's Word.

We will do no effective works to clean up our sins. Jesus has nailed our sins to the Blood stained Cross. Jesus has killed our sin in His sacrifice.

Jesus is sufficient and perfect. He who raised the dead son back to his mother. He who raised the dead for the official who knew Jesus was apart. He, who made the blind see again and again. Jesus, who held the leper and healed. Jesus, who welcomed the little children to Him.

We ask the patience of God Almighty.
Presenting an open heart and not double intentions and selfishness.

Asking God to make our path straight.
Not riding a time with Jesus to glorify ourselves.
Asking with open heartedness, for Jesus and Abba to protect us from temptation and evil.

For us to participate in His Love in His Kingdom, Power and Glory.

Knowing we are part of the Body of Christ.
God is Love and we cover the people we love with His Prayer and Love
and know all our concerns are held dearly by the One who Loves us.

In His Word we are embraced and loved, upheld by His Love tenderly.

In Jesus, we rejoice.

Amen

Luke 2 ~ The Shepherds

This photo isn't about Angels from Heaven.
The photo is of my younger son with our delightful Owen,
when Owen was chosen to show his talent in High School as Mr. Cavalier.
The teachers decide who will be honored, 6 students to participate.
My older son was one of the 6. My younger son was part of Owen's team 2 years later.

The photos all turned out as if the really great
young men were Angels and I was Super Impressed.

Evidently curly wool Lambs!

Luke 10

23 Then Jesus turned to the disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.

24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see
but did not see it,
and to hear what you hear
but did not hear it.”

Did the Shepherds have young children with them? As David worked in the field?
We will not know. Until Heaven.

Genesis 18:19
For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice,
so that the LORD may bring to Abraham
what
He has promised him.

What happened in that field

Luke 2:15-20

The shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

About Christmastime, I did a post about standard education should only include pure thoughts for children. And leave adult matters to adults with adult minds.

This pleased quite a few people, and on smaller search engines, Scripture for Today Blogspot became much more difficult to find. Yet, apparently, our readers continued to find the Blog.

This is a Thank You. You have been Shepherds for the Blog. We have more reviews than we did before. Life will always give us the opportunity to be slammed and to have joy. Thank You to those of you giving a review. Your Shepherd efforts are a Joy to me. Thanks!

Your Prayers are Appreciated. We look with faith at the world around us and find difficult times with Reports on Prayer, we find more people are faithfully praying than ever before. To know this Nation prays as hard as Philippines and Ethiopia.  Knowing we love our children, are guilty of being wild for our children and please God exceedingly. Difficult times knowing the huge percentage of people praying - Comfort us all. The Comfort of the Holy Spirit - together.

Praying is Good. We want to see some of the faith, we don't always readily see. All of us in His Beloved want to know. And then suddenly Easter was more of a travel time than Thanksgiving. Families gathering for Easter.

We want the Goodness of God to Shine in our lives and in the lives of those we love.

In Thanksgiving for the Good, we all say Abba, thank You for Jesus Christ. Son of God. And we pray this for one another:

Jeremiah 31:35

Thus says the Lord, who gives the sun for light by day and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar— the Lord of Hosts is His Name

About Me

My photo
Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
