John 1:29-42 ~ he saw Jesus coming toward him

John 1:29-42

The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

30 This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who ranks before me, because he was before me.’ 31 I myself did not know him, but for this purpose I came baptizing with water, that he might be revealed to Israel.”

32 And John bore witness: “I saw the Spirit descend from Heaven like a dove, and it remained on Him.

33 I myself did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.”

35 The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples, 36 and he looked at Jesus as he walked by and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!”

37 The two disciples heard him say this, and they followed Jesus.

38 Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, “What are you seeking?”

And they said to him, “Rabbi” (which means Teacher), “where are you staying?”

3He said to them, Come and you will see. So they came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.

40 One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. 41 He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means Christ).

42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “So you are Simon the son of John? You shall be called Cephas” (which means Peter [Cephas and Peter are from the word for rock in Aramaic and Greek, respectively).

John's Gospel is interesting all over. John doesn't spend time explaining his own life or opinions. John doesn't hold back. John begins, beginnings are interesting, by explaining Jesus as God's Son. God the Holy Trinity. Jesus the Messiah of God.

I have seen and have borne witness
that
this is the Son of God!

Behold,
the Lamb of God,
who takes away the sin of the world!

I saw the Spirit descend from Heaven like a dove,
and it remained on Him.

What are you seeking?

Jesus immediately looks at the heart of the matter. Our destination. Our look to see. Our desire in life. Just as the Lord told Samuel to pick David. What our heart longs for.

John never describes Jesus Christ. David, we know, from Biblical description. Jesus isn't described. Twice, Nazareth says Jesus looks like Joseph, Son of David. It's the only opinion on Jesus from the Gospels.  God says all things work for Good for those who work according to His Purpose. Why aren't we told? To see Jesus in the Blessings we have. To find Jesus in the people we love and know. To see their Blessings unfold. Admiring the Work of the Lord.

John says he didn't know Jesus, until John decided to look to seek Jesus. The decision we make daily. To look to find the possible Plan and Blessing of our Father.

We are to see Jesus the Light of mankind, in all situations, as John's Gospel tells us.

Isaiah 9:2
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined.

Proverbs 4:18
The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.

John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life."

Philippians 4:8-19 ~ To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Mount Nebo, Moses could see the Promised Land and remained on Mount Nebo. Later, the Apocrypha records Jeremiah hid the Ark of the Covenant here. Not to be revealed until the Lord decides to reveal the Ark.

The Lord loves to put Arks on Mountains! Noah knows this.

Philippians 4:8-19

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. 11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.

13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

14 Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble.

15 And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only. 16 Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again.

17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. 18 I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.

19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

20 To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.

The Lord's Brother, Jude, tells us about Archangel Michael and Moses.

Jude 1:9
But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not himself dare to condemn him for slander but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"

So, where did this come from? This isn't recorded in the Old Testament. We are talking about, probably, either Jesus has told Jude or The Transfiguration. A time leap.

We all get angry and ANGER is in the Bible over 500 times. Surely, anger interferes with happiness.

Romans 8:28

And we know that for those who love God
all things work together for good,
for those who are called according to His purpose.

How is this working for good for Moses? To be ending on Mount Nebo?

Several reasons. The work of the Exodus isn't Moses. This amazing work is a Work of The Lord. The awe and wonder of the Exodus remains today in several important documents. Like Salt Papyrus 124 in the British Museum. "The Tale of Two Brothers", Seti II and Mose.  Thutmose III includes the slaves in Goshen for the first time in his census, tax record. Thutmose III is the Pharaoh would be David or Hezekiah. Most of the fortunes of generations, stem from the excellent skills of Thutmose III. Amenhotep III has a mortuary palace in Kom el Hetan where it was only discovered in 2009. The papyrus at the bases of the statues have provided interesting clues to Joseph. It was the next generation of Pharaoh's to become determined to have Egypt only worship One God. The site is on going and currently not open to the public.

The Ipuwer Papyrus.

Out of Egypt, I have called my son!

In these Pandemic Recovery Days, we understand the discomfort of the desert.  The slavery of the Children of Israel, made many, tough enough for the 40 year journey.

The Comfort God gave a pillar of fire by night and a cloud by day, enabled the Children of Israel to forsake earthy joy and go forth.

Joshua 6:1–27

The walls of Jericho fell after the Israelites marched
around the city walls once a day for six days
and seven times on the seventh day then blew their trumpets.

The scriptures repeat and repeat. We are to look to see the signs, His Creation surrounds us.
The walls fell down when trumpets sound... Revelation 1.

1 Corinthians 15:52

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.
For the trumpet will sound,
and the dead will be raised imperishable,
and we shall be changed.

Ezekiel 33:3–5
Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet,
and taketh not warning; if the sword come,
and take him away,
his blood shall be upon his own head
But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.

Romans 8:28

And we know that for those who love God
all things work together for good,
for those who are called according to His purpose.

Paul sees and gives Joy.

Romans 15:13
May the God of hope
fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Romans 15:32
So that by God's will
I may come to you with joy and be refreshed in your company.

2 Corinthians 1:24
Not that we lord it over your faith,
but we work with you for your joy, for you stand firm in your faith.

2 Corinthians 7:2
Make room in your hearts for us.
We have wronged no one, we have corrupted no one, we have taken advantage of no one.

Philippians 1:4
always in every prayer of mine for you
all making my prayer with joy

Moses saw the bush that was not consumed. Perhaps this looked like a Christmas Tree?
We chose Joy when we are Angry. Looking internally, believing in the future.

Abba, Father,

Help us in all minutes of the day, to believe You have given us a Hope and Future.
To be part of Your Vine and fruitfulness.
Help us to build in all times, each day.

With Jesus and Your Gift of Faith, we will live in Love, Peace and Joy.
Having the Blessing from Your Son to ask for more Heaven upon earth
for all of Creation. God of Love. God of Encouragement.

Living in the Freedom and Expectation to Seek You first
 and
find Your Kingdom glimpsed around us.

Keep us safe from disasters, quieten storms and keep the Oceans safe.

Uphold those we Love. We Trust You.

James 1 ~ Joy

James 1

1 James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ,

To the twelve tribes in the Dispersion:

Greetings.

2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

9 Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation, 10 and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away. 11 For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits.

12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. 14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. 18 Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20 for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

26 If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.

27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

In the Photo - Copy of the 500 or more year old thoughts on the Bible of Martin Luther.

The Book of James, Brother of Jesus Christ, is listed before that of the Disciple Simon, who is Peter. The Rock of the Church.

The First Chapter of Books of the Bible is interesting. This is the information important to the Author. Thee Author. And because this 1st in importance to James, the Brother of Jesus Christ - he tells us of Temptation and fully explains from eyewitness, been-there-done-that with the necessary and most important ingredient - Redemption.

Jesus was dead. His Mother and Brothers were not always kind and in full support of His Ministry. Now... Easter and the Month following. They live with their lives to explain to Jesus.

Forgiveness is fully Redemption. John 7 tells of Sibling Conflict.  John starts with the Dispersion as in relationship and ends with being kept in holiness - wholeness.

We know Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit write the Chapter with James - and even with the disagreements, James is bold enough to say count it all Joy. Giving us even further reality and eyewitness of the depth of God's Mercy. Count it all Joy when His Family made His Ministry more difficult. And Jesus, known to be so much to the huge Crowds following Him, Jesus Died in awful circumstance.  Without the men who knew Him and Loved Him so many years.

Count it all Joy. To be part of God's Purpose.  Jesus takes what is broken and makes what James calls Steadfastness. Perfect and Complete.

Jesus Comfort, Comforter, Helper. God of Love.

Why would Jesus have James begin in the Dispersion? The Prodigal Son who didn't stay on the family land and work.  Something James and Jesus' Brothers would understand.

Abba, Father,

To Your Mercy and Love , we lift up the drought and flood situations.
And ask for their comfort and hope with assurance of safety.

Texas looks for more rain, Father.

Giving Thanks for our increase in health.
And  people beginning to feel the effects of fall allergies.
Your Blessing of Health, we ask in the Highest Name of Jesus.

To have the Blessing of relaxed hope and increasing confidence.

Thank You, Father God, for the summer and the beauty of Family Time.
With inspired prayers for cooler temperatures.

For Your Name to Cover those we Love. Jesus to cover this Nation. The cares we pray about. All Nations Trusting in You - to be Blessed. And the same for the Children of God in loving communication with You.

Dwell in those we Love.
Thank You for dwelling in us.
Help us to daily please You.
To seek You First
and to end well in Jesus!

Jesus Christ is God! Amen.

He is Christ the Lord.

Isaiah 43:2

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and
through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire
you shall not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you.

Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
