Light the Path
A Life Worth Living
Luke 9:10-22
10 On their return the apostles told him all that they had done. And he took them and withdrew apart to a town called Bethsaida.
11 When the crowds learned it, they followed him, and he welcomed them and spoke to them of the kingdom of God and cured those who had need of healing.
12 Now the day began to wear away, and the twelve came and said to him, “Send the crowd away to go into the surrounding villages and countryside to find lodging and get provisions, for we are here in a desolate place.”
13 But he said to them, “You give them something to eat.”
They said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish—unless we are to go and buy food for all these people.”
1 4 For there were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.”
15 And they did so, and had them all sit down. 16 And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing over them. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. 17 And they all ate and were satisfied. And what was left over was picked up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.
18 Now it happened that as he was praying alone, the disciples were with him. And he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”
19 And they answered, “John the Baptist. But others say, Elijah, and others, that one of the prophets of old has risen.”
20 Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
And Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”
21 And he strictly charged and commanded them to tell this to no one, 22
saying,
“The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.”
If we wanted to tour Bethsaida -
Lost - Jesus told us Bethsaida would be lost. And truly people are only guessing where Bethsaida is today. Unknown if it's the Sea of Galilee or the River Jordan.
Informed - Jesus knows what is about to happen. The Book of Life is no mystery to Jesus Christ, Son of God, Messiah. Savior of the world.
In the Journey of being on God's Plan -
We know Abraham was said to be raised as his belief in God allowed him to be righteous - a friend of God.
Jesus was more informed as the exact Nature of God Himself.
John 10:18
No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.
Jesus set out to feed the lost city of Bethsaida. And Jesus told us Bethsaida was lost. Just like so many of us wake up and say, "Well, it's Tuesday." We don't know if Tuesday will be awesome or ordinary. But Tuesday looks like this Tuesday or last Tuesday - is this meaningful? And what do we have to look forward to when we are decades down the road on Tuesdays?
Are we going to Nursing Homes? Live Blessed going forward? Will our kids come out of High School and College and we are proud to have done the work?
Will our spouse be healthy? What about our friends, will they live here? Will they be healthy? I can tell you - no one is normal. We have anxiety, we have self-centeredness. We have pride. We have failure and unhappiness. We have pushy behavior to make sure we are first until alone. We run into illnesses making Bankruptcy from illness the leading cause. Heck we even have Lightning and Bird Flu.
Tuesdays are going to be fine. Life has Hell and High Water and boredom.
And Jesus went to the lost city of Bethsaida to feed the multitudes becoming millenniums. The Promises of God are this - God has a plan and we have the ability every day to add to His Plan. The Prayers of a Righteous man availeth much. When Abraham decided to rise up to believe God - God listened and moved His Heart and plans for Abraham.
Jesus knows God much better. Jesus believes when we pray and give God our heart - He is going to make the Path much more interesting. Much harsher, if He needs to. Much more enriching. To examine Love and pursue Joy and Peace. Jesus says has the Kingdom (He set out to Gift to Father God), Thee Power and The Glory. Jesus says the words are "Thy Will Be Done."
On earth as it is in Heaven.
That's an AMAZING addendum.
Jesus has given so much fully knowing what is required.
Abba, our Father,
For behold, the winter is past, The rain is over and gone. The flowers have already appeared in the land; The time has arrived for pruning the vines, And the voice of the turtledove has been heard in our land.
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
Let us seek peace and pursue it.
In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
Putting all of our cares upon the Lord Jesus Christ, for He makes our burdens light. We find rest for our soul.
Giving thanks for my son who helped the air conditioning work in Texas in July. Allleluuuuia!!! With a July Birthday. Resting all our people, all our beloved all of our cares in the Steadfast, reliable, determined, goodness and Love of Jesus. Amen.
