Luke 9:37-50
46 An argument arose among them as to which of them was the greatest.
47 But Jesus, knowing the reasoning of their hearts, took a child and put him by his side 48 and said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For he who is least among you all is the one who is great.”
This week, our Japonica shrub - nestled next to a wood fern in our front yard - was tenderly observed. Our Japonica is from the time of Hurricane Ike when our daughter Isabelle was born and woke up with Jesus Christ. We received several potted plants as kind gifts during this time. One was from dear friends, having a baby girl at the same time, and moving across the Continent. Our Japonica is doing well and thriving.
Our peaches for the last two years have had a bumper crop. This year, same things done as before and the peaches were enjoyed by white flies and squirrels. We have a lovely neighbor who has knock you over with roses and this year, they were struggling to bloom.
Seasons change up and down and around. We were talking to a friend about his career and he was saying seasons of being the shining star at work - change. Like the Peach tree or the Roses.
We all are offered a different seat at the table and are meant to observe and learn.
We were blessed by a couple we know from Church - with their help, our youngest son is starting a new job using his Master's in Construction from LSU. His last job was with a Fortune 500 Company outsourcing all of their implementation on a contractual 1099 basis. He has two rather severe injuries from two men carrying 1,500 pounds. No health insurance, no Social Security matching, no employee compensation for injury or overtime. What has he learned? What it is to work hard for a living and the toll of making a living. Especially the workers meeting mortgage, rent and child needs. Our son will carry the memory of working the career ladder. To have compassion on hard work done.
We are praying for a very dear friend, who is 43. Frankly, he is numbered with the Greatest. He has stood in the gap when the gap was not the popular place to be - during his own Rehearsal Dinner. Displaying what a man does for a woman in need. He has carried medication to those with a fever. He has spoken kindly to an older men having a dying child. With Authority, With Humility, with Certainty. With Kindness. He has painted houses of the poor to make the house beautiful. He has held the place of God when Scripture is learned and questioned - holding the attention of Junior High boys. He has quieted the loud unruly High Schoolers too. Not with flash, but with sincerity.
We watched him compose music to marry his true Love. We watched him smile over her as sure as warm butter, sunshine and syrup on pancakes. Blessed and blessed and blessed to marry the woman he loves so dearly. Father to two daughters and a smiling son.
He has a cancer brought on by doing flood work for insurance. Pray with us for this good, good man. You know from this brief description, he brought comfort to the flooded elderly. You know he worked to provide for his family.
We are praying for the Cancer to leave his spine, his lung, his colon. I'm visualizing this kind face sitting with Jesus and Jesus placing His Hand on this Good Heart. I'm visualizing the Cancer leaving as dust we see in sunbeams. Lifted out. By Jesus who loves him as the Greatest.
There is a lot of pain to go from doing insurance work and suddenly having a pulled back muscle to broken ribs caused by cancer. I want so strongly to see the Greatest live to be old and see his grandchildren on his lap. To debate the merits of the many grandchildren, with his blessed, blessed, blessed wife who knows how cherished she is.
Don't forget to pray for this humble, kind man who is the Greatest.
When I've listened and prayed for and heard of Jesus miracles - they happen with diligent prayer. Jesus told us to always pray with hope. I'm going to know our Father God is going to provide His Mercy and His Love - with certainty - and I'm going to pray with Faith for the Greatest to be healed.
Abba,
Now as God the Father, You know You have had one of the Greatest Child of God Beloved, who was sick and at the point of death, and he is highly valued by You.
We know the Scriptures and the Power of God. We are asking again and again for Jesus, with His Love, to come and heal this
Beloved servant, Child of Yours and Your friend.
We boldly and with confidence ask Jesus, pleaded earnestly, saying, “He is worthy to have you do this for him, 5 for he loves our nation, and he is the one who built us our Body of Christ in our Churches.”
Asking You, to have Jesus go with us in these prayers for him, his wife and children. Say the Word, and let Your Beloved child be fully healed.
We pray Your Blessings upon us. We pray this so high to our Nation and Nations and, please, the Children of God pray for this Beloved Child of Yours to see many days unto his grandchildren as in Psalm 128.
Praying for healing all over.
Covered in the Name of Jesus. Amen.
Jesus in Your Willingness |
