John 16:20-24
22 So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. 23 In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. 24 Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
Jesus spoke the Truth. The disciples would have such sorrow they would hide behind locked doors for days. Beginning only to come forth when Jesus was told to be alive. Of course, even seeing the young man in Nain and Lazarus come alive - they did not believe Mary Magdalene saying Jesus is Alive.
Jesus works with fearful people and doubters. He always has. God, being God, hopes we take even disaster and imminent death with trust.
This weekend we were supposed to have a 7 person family reunion. And this involved driving to another city for a tournament for Edward and gathering from 2 states and 4 cities. I got there tonight about 9 pm after traveling in the dark. My husband greeted me saying, "No one is coming, there was a horrible traffic jam in Denver and the other son has an ill dog." Another person remembered her father had a birthday.
So, no one is in the house with me, and I'm out of town. Then we just looked at the weather for Edward's tournament, which will have 40 mph winds and rain.
Edward eyes me in apprehension. I had asked to join him Saturday and would have been cozy at home. I remembered a weekend in the dorm in college when I had 3 plans fall apart, and spent the entire weekend alone in a 400 person dorm.
And usually, there would have been yelling and phone calls and explanations.
Last night, I watched a 10-minute segment of fights on Commercial Airliners. The number of fights was probably 30. Sometimes it looked as if ten or more people were involved. And a fight of 45 people in Puerto Rico before the flight took off. Scenes of the movie: "Kingsman, Secret Service." It wasn't profoundly odd enough, we had to see the clip twice.
The emotion it raised in me was this recollection
Matthew 9:36
When He saw the crowds, He was moved with compassion for them,
because they were harassed and helpless,
like sheep without a shepherd.
I wrote a Post about going to the Pharmacy and seeing an elderly woman and young 20s store clerk almost having a personal riot.
Then I remembered, as I watched the violent video with plane fighting, when my son would cry as a toddler. We didn't go out to eat when they were toddlers past 7 p.m., crying with great sorrow would start. The only thing to stop the sorrow was meeting bedtime and their own blankets and bed things.
As I had this memory, a child on a commercial airplane began to just howl like a wounded animal to see the adults go crazy.
How could I have the typical sorrow and reactions that life had overcome the desire to gather as a family? The whole world is facing people in their immediate lives act like the people in the Pharmacy. Except, not exactly. Europe and the UK don't report an increase in crimes during the Pandemic. France only reports Domestic Violence, pretty bad, actually. Australia keeps meticulous crime records and with their bizarre upheaval, they aren't losing their minds in crime and airplanes.
If you want to know the effects of Crime on people, you can't get more in their face than the violent plane fights. It's incredible to see adults unable to remain calm in close surroundings.
We have become a people who are overwhelmed. And the sorrow of us having so much initial success in Pandemic. The world of blue skies and clear water in Venice would become far from equality and steeped in violence and emotion.
Lost people. Hurting people. We are these people. And it's tragic.
We are the most Praying Nation. We need to find our Strength with Patience for One Another.
Not allow violence, but not decide to provide a place violence and crime can occur. The U.K. has amazing gates that close unbelievably fast. Creating a hallway where the Police come and collect the violent. Works. Well.
Being so in His Plan - prayers with miracles are given.
In in this Seeking and Having Found Jesus, Father God delights in seeing His Plan unfold. I would guess there are some Celestial Candid Camera moments for Answered Prayer. It's written Heaven rejoices over one Saved Soul.
Luke 15
5 And when he finds the one lost sheep, He joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’
I wonder if Heaven watches out-takes videos of faces when Prayers are Answered.
Some day, some day, some day, we will see the Heaven Videos of Answered Prayers.
Jesus has always known He is a bringer of Joy.
God tells us in Genesis - He sees this creation as Good. Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.
Jesus tells us in John - He has Joy in being part of this Life. Father God sees much more of Life than we do. In Jesus is life, and that life is the light of all mankind.
Jesus has always known He is a bringer of Joy.
Luke 2:10
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.
Luke 10
17 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”
18 He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
21 At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
Luke 19:37
When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen!!!
God tells us in Genesis - He sees this creation as Good. Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.
Jesus tells us in John - He has Joy in being part of this Life. Father God sees much more of Life than we do. In Jesus is life, and that life is the light of all mankind.
