The tower watching a town, is often a busy place. The tower stores food. Food is placed and retrieved and stored.
Psalm 130
A Song of Ascents.
Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord!
2 O Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my pleas for mercy!
3 If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
4 But with you there is forgiveness,
that you may be feared.
5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in his word I hope;
6 my soul waits for the Lord
more than watchmen for the morning,
more than watchmen for the morning.
7 O Israel, hope in the Lord!
For with the Lord there is steadfast love,
and with him is plentiful redemption.
8 And he will redeem Israel
from all his iniquities.
This afternoon, I sat and felt tired today. To recoup when the day has been tired. Some days we are just tired and fatigued. Feeling the same old day, same time.
To plan the next day, to be more pleasing to God.
Remembering our blessings, given today, and rise again tomorrow in the Mercy of God and Renewed Hope and Expectation.
Last week, my Bible Study prayed for Cal, my son in law school, the stresses of Pandemic on well laid and hard worked plans. That afternoon Cal had a take at home, Pandemic, final exam and had a Proctor type question with no one available. He had tried every phone number and email and was - understandably - quite upset. Phoning home to vent. And in the middle of the phone call, he found, later, the question was answered as the phone call was returned on his messages. God is Good.
We drove out to see the Blue Angels go down I-45. It was a thank you to the First Responders. And we were in the only traffic jam of late, for all of us social distancing, to now return home. We had really enjoyed the Blue Angels. And were grateful to see an usual display in an unusual time - uniting the thousands who turned out to see the Blue Angels.
Luke 10
41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord replied, “you are worried and upset about many things.
42 But only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Jesus gave Martha another day. His Comfort on the day she would need Jesus.
John 11
27 “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”
28 After she had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary aside. “The Teacher is here,” she said, “and is asking for you.” 29 When Mary heard this, she got up quickly and went to him. 30 Now Jesus had not yet entered the village, but was still at the place where Martha had met him. 31 When the Jews who had been with Mary in the house, comforting her, noticed how quickly she got up and went out, they followed her, supposing she was going to the tomb to mourn there.
32 When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. 34 “Where have you laid him?” he asked.
38 Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. 39 “Take away the stone,” he said.
“But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.”
40 Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”
41 So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.”
43 When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” 44 The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.
Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”
We need the Grace of God upon His People. Not just the day we feel slip past, but the days we find we really need Jesus. God gives us many days to find Him each day.
