Luke 15:1-10
Now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear Him.
2 And the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.”
3 So He told them this parable: 4 “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?
5 And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’
7 Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.
8 “Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and seek diligently until she finds it? 9 And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.’
10 Just so, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
Jesus loved the Centurion.
The Centurion believes the Word of God was willing, good, capable, faithful and amazing. The Centurion said, in effect, the Word of God holds up the Universe, speak the Word and Your Word overcomes all suffering.
This is a time, when people have expressive faces. Worry shows.
During and after a party, doing something new, making decisions people get so upset about these 2021 days. The Disciples saw Jesus bring back dead children, the blind could see, the deaf hear, the lame could leap and walk, the leper was healed. And yet, when Lazarus came back to life, Thomas said, the authorities will kill Jesus now, and we should go with Him.
Worriers. Born in abuse, substance abuse, brutally opinionated kindly people. Struggling people. Seasons of illness and death. When we have our troubles in front of us. People who believe God and really want to please God and feel overwhelmed. When we hate our prayers are complaints.
Jesus didn't let the Disciples go.
He didn't say, "You worry, so, om, go home. I can replace you. Bubbeye."
We may worry, we may fuss, and be like Jacob and wrestle with an Angel of God.
The Prodigal son worried. Our struggles are heard and God says to tell Him. The Shepherd who left the many to find the one, had concerns for all. He wouldn't be a proper Shepherd if He didn't have Compassion for the many. Jesus did. The woman who searches at night for the lost coin, needs the coin. We all know if we feel assured of the outcome, we wait until light to find the lost item. These Parables are about pressing through being real with real events.
I've found when I have concerns and look worried, and I am in company, if I address the concerns of us all, I'm in company with those who press past their worries and continue to strive until fear is cast down. To acknowledge the Truth is to Overcome. The Truth. Jesus tells us He is The Way, The Truth and The Life. When we trust God with our genuine inner beings, and who we really are, we trust God to be ourselves.
Let God be God and Help and Comfort us.
God is with the anxious Shepherd looking for his 3-year-old son. God is with the anxious parent waiting for the teenager. Father God is with the parents who pray for their college sons. And grown children.
God is for us when we suffer financial setbacks or have unexpected bills. God helps us to have calm to diligently look for the Solutions.
Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less. Marie Curie
Jesus Christ told us He has come that we might have Life in Abundance. Worry doesn't add a cubit to our lives.
Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment. Buddha
Mary said in Luke 1,
The Proud are scattered in the imaginations of their heart. We are blessed God's Mercy wants to Dwell with us.
Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself. Harvey Fierstein
Let Love be Genuine. Fight the Good Fight.
You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life. Winston Churchill
Our enemy might be our concerns robbing us of Joy. The Gospels have the father who says to Jesus,
"I have faith. Help me to have more." And Jesus did. Just as He helped Peter out of the Sea of Galilee.
God did not make us to walk on water.
Peter had a much better relationship with Jesus when he swam to Jesus to have breakfast. Marie Curie died from her experiments. God did not give His Disciples Comfort all the time. We are expected to be thinking Children of God and have discussions with Him on discomfort to find again His Holy Spirit and have Comfort.
