And God spoke all these words, saying,
2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
3 “You shall have no other gods before me.
4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
13 “You shall not murder.
14 “You shall not commit adultery.
15 “You shall not steal.
16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
17 “You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.”
18 Now when all the people saw the thunder and the flashes of lightning and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking, the people were afraid and trembled, and they stood far off 19 and said to Moses, “You speak to us, and we will listen; but do not let God speak to us, lest we die.”
20 Moses said to the people, “Do not fear, for God has come to test you, that the fear of Him may be before you, that you may not sin.” 21 The people stood far off, while Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was.
Laws About Altars
22 And the Lord said to Moses, “Thus you shall say to the people of Israel: ‘You have seen for yourselves that I have talked with you from heaven. 23 You shall not make gods of silver to be with me, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold.
24 An altar of earth you shall make for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen. In every place where I cause my name to be remembered I will come to you and bless you.
25 If you make me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of hewn stones, for if you wield your tool on it you profane it. 26 And you shall not go up by steps to my altar, that your nakedness be not exposed on it.’
Not everyone is fond of Cathedrals. Not everyone is comfortable when the 10 Commandments are read. Help. Helper. Comforter. And the 10 Commandments. Jesus walked as Grace upon Grace during His life with us.
The dark is not dark to God.
John 1:5
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
This year, in Texas, we have had rain and amazing hours of thunder and lightning. God knows what the people, and pets, who fear thunder and lightning have done.
1 Kings 19:11-13
Then the LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain before the LORD.
Behold, the LORD is about to pass by.”
And a great and mighty wind tore into the mountains and shattered the rocks
before the LORD,
but the LORD was not in the wind.
After the wind there was an earthquake,
but the LORD was not in the earthquake.
12After the earthquake there was a fire,
but the LORD was not in the fire.
And after the fire came a still, small voice.
13When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his cloak and went out
and stood at the mouth of the cave.
Suddenly a voice came to him and said,
“What are you doing here, Elijah?
Cathedrals serve a purpose.
Wondrous thoughts of the hours and dedication of men of art, architecture and vision have gifted us over hundreds and sometimes thousands of years. Kings like Charlemagne. When the King St. Edward died in 1066, he was succeeded by Harold Godwinson, and in the same year overcome by William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings.
God the Almighty, Creator of All Things. Our Father Who Knows the Heavenly Host by name.
Abba with us as we view the stars, babies, weddings. Moments we know Emmanuel, God with us. God within.
We leave the cynical and the loud voices. Carve past what is overwhelming and loud. Connect with our Eternal and we have our souls to Jesus Christ. Brush past what is not for us and find the still, quiet voice within. Meaningful. Substantial. Up building. Encouraging. Loving.
Do you not know you are the Temple of God?
‘You have seen for yourselves that I have talked with you from heaven.
You shall not make gods of silver to be with me, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold.
An altar of earth
sacrifice
your peace offerings
your sheep and your oxen.
In every place where I cause my name to be remembered
I will come to you and bless you.
Make me an altar of stone,
you shall not build it of hewn stones, what you hammer away in your efforts and thoughts
for if you wield your tool on it you profane it.
And you shall not go up by steps to my altar,
that your nakedness be not exposed on it.’
We take our faith and we sacrifice what we have been told by so many opinions. And what we have not diligently and earnestly sought in our Eternal Jesus. We take what is precious and we take our rock foundation and make stone, we hack and hack upon. We hammer away. And we make our nakedness something we wish not to expose.
Jesus, our Jesus, knows this.
Mark 9:24
After Jesus questioned the father, Jesus told him,
“All things are possible for one who believes.”
“Immediately the father of the child cried out and said,
'I believe; help my unbelief! '”
The candles don't just represent when we know our hearts are engaged fully in our love for Jesus. The candles are the enduring Love God holds steadfastly for all the prayers we don't even have the warm feeling for. The Promises of God are sure. Our God pays attention to us, gives us the assurance we should look for more Heaven on earth. Knowing our Jesus would listen to us, always. The gates of Heaven never close and prayer is always heard.
2 Kings 20:5a
“Turn back, and say to my people,
Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father:
I have heard your prayer,
I have seen your tears."
Angels are written to be Messengers of Fire.
Jesus is the Light of the world.
Light of mankind.
Abba, Father,
Help us, in Jesus, not to be in error
because
we ask Jesus to dwell in us.
We want to know the Scriptures
and the power of God.
We ask to see more Heaven on earth
believing Your Will is good.
Your child speaks to Your open heart. I believe in Your Promises. We pray for the prosperity of goodness. For good hopes and faith giving us good health. Our souls' prosperity.
Dwell in us and those we Love.
Help us to seek You first
and finish well.
We commit our work, personally, to You, Father.
Establish those who love You.
We ask for the coming years to have prosperity financially and in Spirit. That our pleasure in building our nation, our families, our Churches, our businesses delights You as well.
We ask for life to be quiet from strife, from unneeded fears and concerns.
Your people will have wisdom to ask and motivate peace, kindness and love.
Help us to manage our lives wisely, others are encouraged to do this as well.
In practical concerns You share like housing and affordability, beauty, safety.
And in the peace, give mercy.
Our refuge is in You, Jesus, Light of the world and mankind. Amen.
Jesus, God of Encouragement.
Jesus, Hope and Future.
Jesus the Lord
saves the world
Amen.
Abba, Father,
In Jesus Christ, we will never give up.
Jesus the God of ALL.
Jesus the God of Elliott, we pray Life and healing
Elliott's Joy and Love in Harby and their children.
Jesus, God of Encouragement.
Jesus, Hope and Future.
Jesus the Lord
saves the world
Amen.
