Acts 1:1-14
In the first book, O Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach, 2 until the day when He was taken up, after He had given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom He had chosen. 3 He presented Himself alive to them after His suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the Kingdom of God.
4 And while staying with them He ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, He said, “you heard from me; 5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”
7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by His Own Authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
9 And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, He was lifted up, and a cloud took Him out of their sight.
10 And while they were gazing into heaven as He went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, 11 and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into Heaven.”
12 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey away. 13 And when they had entered, they went up to the upper room, where they were staying, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot and Judas the son of James.
14 All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers and sisters.
81% of Americans celebrated Easter. As Jesus rose from the dead. 4 in 10 Americans have struggled to pay for either food or housing since Covid. And 4 in 10 Americans have wondered if this is the end times.
Matthew 24:14
And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world
as a testimony to all nations,
and then the end will come.
Has not happened yet. There is genuine lack of understanding or even the knowledge of the Scriptures. Jesus asked His people a question about the Second Coming. Will there be faith on earth? The Gospel explains during the birth of Jesus, Isaiah teaches us we don't understand some of the prophetic portions of the Bible. Knock, knock Herod, show us the Christ Messiah Child.
The weather and the wobbles of government and morality all occurred in the Roman Empire. It's just more of the same we see in the Books of Kings in the Bible. The variations of faithfulness and faith.
Given the news as a proclamation of troubles, not really addressed, we would all feel uncertain. The surveys all show that 4 of 10 Americans have experienced or are experiencing a high degree of stress. In Pandemic history, this is par. As in, par for the course.
Jesus shows us as Easter progresses, He gets up miraculously, even ancient Roman historians proclaim. And the Jesus Revolution continues. 1992 Easters later. Why? Each generation seeks, finds the meaning of life and finds Divine Love. The people of Jesus find Him and pray. Love, like light, is carried in Him to our up building.
Billy Graham held up a single candle in packed, darkened, football stadiums. To tell us the Light of Christ goes forth. And lives and history change, to the up building of the Body of Christ in Love. The Movie, "Woodlawn" should never be forgotten. Alabama had terrible racism, Birmingham, was known as bombingham. One Dallas man, had a dream, to visit a Birmingham High School, Woodlawn. Alabama's Christian Body was built up to overcome the hatred. Why? One single candle lit up one man. Jesus of Nazareth, Messiah, The Christ of God. His Only Son.
Jesus Christ is the Light of mankind. Jesus is the Light of the world. Jesus is the light of Nations. Jesus is the Light of Heaven.
Let There Be Light. And God saw it was very good.
Jesus began to do and teach, until the day when He was taken up
Abba, Father,
Help us to go before the Lord to prepare His ways
To give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins
Because of the tender mercy of our God
His sunrise shall visit us from on high
Giving light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death
Guiding our feet into the way of peace.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ
He has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms
By grace you have been saved through faith
and that not of yourselves
The gift of God
not as a result of works, so that no one may boast
Faith is a gift of God
by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ
May grace and peace be multiplied to you
in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord
We pray for all facing injustice
and those who face the injustice
in a system called Justice.
We pray this Land
is Home of the Free
the Brave
and
the Honest.
FREEDOM!
1 John 3:1
See what kind of love the Father has given to us,
that we should be called children of God
Dwell in us, Father
Dwell in those we Love
Help us to seek You first
and in Jesus Christ,
we will finish well.
Blessed be the Name of the Lord
Jesus Christ, Savior of God.
Amen.
