Hebrews 11:6
it is impossible to please God,
People wonder. They say, how will we believe during Good Friday and The First Easter, how are we to believe people rose and walked around Jerusalem? How will we believe Jesus rose again, oh ok, I believe He did, but that might have been a miracle.
It is Interesting, the way the Bible includes this together
1 The earthquake and the bedrock today in The Museum of Israel from Golgotha
2 The Soldiers
3 The announcement of the Divinity of Jesus Christ
4 How close the cross and the garden tombs, plural. Yes, debated, as always. Yet, history tells us Golgotha's base was used.
5 The people raised from the tombs.
And the Geography of Golgotha being both the place of the 3 crosses during the Crucifixion and the garden tomb together.
The Soldiers had several assignments during the Preparation Day (was Good Friday for us), The Sabbath, Holy Saturday we call this, was Passover. Easter Sunday would have been the first day of the week and a workday. 1) The soldiers had to crucify the enemies of the Empire, make sure the condemned died quickly (Jesus was already dead.) 2) Clean up, to make it pretty for the Passover. A pilgrimage of up to 2 million viewers and 16 different services to attend the Temple, according to the Historian Josephus. 3) Send men to seal the Tomb. 4) Send men to guard the Tomb. 5) Keep the peace with an increased presence patrolling Jerusalem, the city and larger cities of Judea.
An Alert Military Presence
The Soldiers were on Golgotha and in Jerusalem as an alert presence. In 16 years, Emperor Claudius was to begin killing people in Rome over the man who was called King of Kings. Rome invented the soon failure of Mithraism, to combine interest waning in the Roman Gods and the sacraments of Christianity.
By the time Peter arrived in Rome, the Romans were ready to hear more about the miracles of Jesus brought back by the soldiers and tradesman. The Jewish Extrapolation had many letters asking if Judaism was finished. The historian Ian Wilson displays these letters in his book, “The History of Jesus Christ.”
Is it religious health, to wonder? Of course.
The Proverbs of Solomon say cry out for wisdom. The Parables of Jesus, The Ten Talents Finally, instruct, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Seek. Find.
Ezekiel 37: 1-11
37 The hand of the Lord was upon me,
And He brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the middle of the valley; it was full of bones. 2 And He led me around among them, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley, and behold, they were very dry. 3 And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, you know.” 4 Then He said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. 5 Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. 6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the Lord.”
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, and behold, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone. 8 And I looked, and behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them. But there was no breath in them. 9 Then He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” 10 So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.
11 Then He said to me,
“Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel."
Of course, Easter would be time for one of the repeated miracles in Scripture.
Ezekiel 36:26
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you;
I will remove from you your heart of stone
and give you a heart of flesh.
Ezekiel 37 continues:
23 I will save them from all the backslidings in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
Bishop Robert Barron is very interesting.
He has said, when people want to talk to him about their heart and soul of their faith, they are far, far, far and away more mystic leaning than they say easily. The Pew Reports say 80% of Americans pray and declare themselves Christian. And 2 of 3 people tell the polls they know their prayers are heard by The Lord. They report He has answered with a miracle that only God Himself could have done.
Another trend we see in life, not being actively reported
Generational Housing. On my street, I have been here for 25 years, we live quietly in the 3rd Largest City in the USA. Not many parties, visitors or long flung family. It is much different from the 1970s and 80s. And in the 12 houses on my street, we have 3 houses living with 3 generations. I applaud this with all my heart. I see chores shared and more employees.
For 25 years in this Village, I have seen evidence of multigenerational living in 3 other houses in a 2 mile radius. And now, 3 houses on our streets. The children look very happy and this has been working for more than 7 years.
Another neighbor had enforced oil industry retirement due to Pandemic, the couple in their 50s were quite anxious. Her mother, in Virginia, asked them to live with her for the rest of her life. They were very pleased, even joyfully gleeful, to move to the wife's spacious family home.
Like many aspects of this generation
In the repeat, repeat, repeat reporting there may be more joy than we know of.
in our heart and soul.
