Reading Scripture helps us know God's Love. Every Bible verse is written for you. Jesus Christ is all mankind's Light. John 1!

Mark 12 ~ Parables

>

Mark 12

And He began to speak to them in parables.

“A man planted a vineyard and put a fence around it and dug a pit for the winepress and built a tower, and leased it to tenants and went into another country. 2 When the season came, he sent a servant to the tenants to get from them some of the fruit of the vineyard. 3 And they took him and beat him and sent him away empty-handed. 4 Again he sent to them another servant, and they struck him on the head and treated him shamefully. 5 And he sent another, and him they killed. And so with many others: some they beat, and some they killed. 6 He had still one other, a beloved son. Finally he sent him to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ 7 But those tenants said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.’ 8 And they took him and killed him and threw him out of the vineyard. 9 What will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the tenants and give the vineyard to others. 10 Have you not read this Scripture:

“‘The stone that the builders rejected
    has become the cornerstone;
11 this was the Lord's doing,
and it is marvelous in our eyes’?”

12 And they were seeking to arrest him but feared the people, for they perceived that he had told the parable against them. So they left him and went away.

13 And they sent to him some of the Pharisees and some of the Herodians, to trap him in his talk. 14 And they came and said to him, “Teacher, we know that you are true and do not care about anyone's opinion. For you are not swayed by appearances, but truly teach the way of God. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? Should we pay them, or should we not?”

15 But, knowing their hypocrisy, he said to them, “Why put me to the test? Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.” 16 And they brought one. And he said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?”

They said to him, “Caesar's.”

17 Jesus said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.”

And they marveled at him.

18 And Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no resurrection. And they asked him a question, saying, 19 “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife, but leaves no child, the man must take the widow and raise up offspring for his brother. 20 There were seven brothers; the first took a wife, and when he died left no offspring. 21 And the second took her, and died, leaving no offspring. And the third likewise. 22 And the seven left no offspring. Last of all the woman also died. 23 In the resurrection, when they rise again, whose wife will she be? For the seven had her as wife.”

24 Jesus said to them, “Is this not the reason you are wrong because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God?

25 For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.

26 And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’?

27 He is not God of the dead, but of the living. You are quite wrong.”

28 And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?”

29 Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’

31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

There is no other commandment greater than these.”

32 And the scribe said to him, “You are right, Teacher. You have truly said that he is one, and there is no other besides him. 33 And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

34 And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And after that no one dared to ask him any more questions.

35 And as Jesus taught in the temple, he said, “How can the scribes say that the Christ is the son of David? 36 David himself, in the Holy Spirit, declared,

“‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at my right hand,
until I put your enemies under your feet.”’

37 David himself calls him Lord. So how is he his son?” And the great throng heard him gladly.

38 And in his teaching he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes and like greetings in the marketplaces 39 and have the best seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at feasts, 40 who devour widows' houses and for a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.”

41 And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. 42 And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny.

43 And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. 44 For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”

For Everything, there is a Time and a Season.

The Word of God stands forever.

Jesus fills every dot and iota of the Scripture.

No explanation of God's Word will ever reach His Full Plan
and Potential. His Steadfast Love endures forever.

Consider Jesus begins the 12th Chapter of The Gospel of Mark discussing Jesus spoke in Parables. And, Bam, Jesus tells exactly one parable in the 12th Chapter of Mark's Gospel.

What happened? The next is Wisdom and God's Insight to make the learned listen. In the Old Testament they would probably wander into the wilderness and build an alter with un-hewn stones. Jesus is calling out the heart within mankind.

Jesus then calls for Hope in the darkness, to find us digging within the Light of Jesus to bring Joy and Hope in our prayers.

Jesus displays the Heart of God and the Heart of the Gospels.

Jesus displays Himself in countless ways to be Messiah. While standing in the Temple.

Jesus find's the Spirit of God in mankind in the Temple.

However, only one Parable. Where are the Parables?

If we look at the Heart of Scriptures, to the Gospels, we find Matthew begins with Family and Birth and the Heralding of so many signs, no one will forget. A personal God, acting in Love for a family and their personal faith.

Mark ~ begins with the Wilderness of maybe even an unknowing nod to the continuation of Matthew's Gospel. The Wilderness of God acting all over the face of His earth. The Wilderness of the Journey of Life. The Wilderness of the Soul. The Wilderness of not knowing Life, not knowing the Path, not knowing Father God. Plenty of Parables.

Luke ~ begins teaching us to understand how many witnesses were part of God's Annunciation.  We have to understand how many concrete pieces are part of God's Amazing Foretold Son's Birth. We have to understand even Mary and Joseph, who are too basic in mankind, to have made this Prophetic Work of God happen.

John  ~ who was so Faithful and unrelenting in his promise to Jesus not to discuss the Transfiguration begins with trying to explain all of Jesus in the most warming ways to his heart. Giving us the immediate understanding Jesus caused immediate reactions.

And John closes explaining the flaws in trying to explain even a day in Jesus' life. He says too much is going around all of Jesus to possibly explain.

John 21:25
Now there are also many other things that Jesus did.
Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that
the world itself could not contain the books that
 would be written.

And... we have found our,  "Jesus began to speak to them in many Parables."
So many parables, we can explain even verses of Jesus, in incredibly different ways. Why? God has an impossible Job. Unless He is God. God wants to save the entire world in Jesus Christ. God is going to constantly speak to us of God. To our heart. To our lives. In our fullness, in our emptiness. In plenty. During the Hope of Haggai believing find the Joy today and more Joy will be complete and follow with the Promises of more of God's Joy.

Parable.
Cathedrals have so much art, texture, history, culture, faith, determination, longevity, beauty, Character, Individuality and Endurance. Cathedrals reflect the layers of our faith and for the times and seasons in our life. Cathedrals are Important.

We worked out the beginnings of the Gospels.
Let's see Jesus put the Beginning of the Gospels and their Parables into Mark 12.

God is reaching out to the world. All times and all seasons and all generations.

1. Jesus is sought by "they" to arrest Him to control and hush Jesus. Possibly ruin Jesus.
2. They marvel at Him. Jesus has caused Wonder and Awe.
3. They are told all The Word of God is alive in God. Not histories of the dead and the details of dust.
4. Love has no greater Commandment.
5. They are told they are wrong. Not humored and pampered.
6.  Mankind is told Love brings us so very close to touching Heaven. No one dared question Jesus further. Jesus has reached them.
7. The Wonder of God and His delicate works bring Joy to the Light inside us. They heard Jesus gladly.
8. They will receive the greater condemnation. Pride, deliberate put downs.
9.  The Best and Greatest Effort can only be measured by God. Within the Temple. Our body houses our soul and is The Temple of God.

Jesus tells us all mankind is fallen. The Word 'they' is used so many times without clarity.
This is a Parable!

Revelation includes 7 Churches. And today, we don't build many Cathedrals. In fact, Cathedral worship is too solemn. Requires too much. Isn't an in thing.  Doesn't warm us up.

The Word of God employs so many ways to help the Heart know God's Love. And we will always find more ways to discover God's Steadfast Love.

The Word of God is a Work of God and has as many layers as a Cathedral. Are you less of a Christian if you don't love a Cathedral?  Are you kidding. God wants to save the entire World in God's Sacrificial and Steadfast Love.

Let us consider Paul. Forgiven for so many things.

Romans 12:6
So in Christ, we who are many are one body, and each member belongs to one another. We have different gifts according to the Grace given us. If one's gift is prophecy, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach.

The Lord lets us have different gifts, different opinions, different cultures.  And  the Lord asks us to find His way, truth and Life ours. How can God encompass so many?

1 Peter 4:8-10
Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.
Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.
As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another,
as good stewarts of God's varied grace.

Haggai 2:4-6,9 ~ Be Strong

Haggai 2:4-6,9

Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, declares the Lord.

Be strong, O Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest.

Be strong, all you people of the land, declares the Lord.

Work, for I am with you, declares the Lord of hosts, 5 according to the covenant that I made with you when you came out of Egypt. My Spirit remains in your midst. Fear not. 6 For thus says the Lord of hosts

The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts. And in this place I will give peace, declares the Lord of hosts.’”

Healing is the effort to rest when needed, exercise daily, take in sunshine, be safe, and encouraging.
Healing is also about honesty. And observing not only what is placed near us, and existing in God's Plan of Good News. God is always putting in living seeds to know something is growing in God's Good Plan. We do well to stay with honesty and truth. Then we can be nourished to be Strong.

Solemn Faces.
We have all had so much going on. The Daily Damage Report. To see people in public, unobserved, is to find stress filled faces. Our Church has not greatly recorded a loss this year. The Public Christian Radio records giving if more than they expected. But it's important to notice the truth, people are having concerns. And look solemn.

Haggai is the time period Judea has returned from Babylon, the second Exile. Jerusalem was a place  destroyed and burned. The people are righting the fragments and removing what was charred. Not, what this generation had known in living in  the Hanging Gardens of Babylon where the Exiles could freely gather to worship. Places were determined.

The people are discovering their identity in new situations.

Haggai is reporting the Good News. The Times aren't easy yet, but find joy in the surrounding situation.  Observe what the mercy is and find gratitude.

Haggai 2 doesn't promise immediate relief as the Chapter opens, and yet verses 18 and 19 are the Lord's promise. He is proclaiming Better Days Going Forward.

18 Consider from this day onward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month. Since the day that the foundation of the Lord's temple was laid, consider: 19 Is the seed yet in the barn? Indeed, the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have yielded nothing. But from this day on I will bless you.”

Abba, Father God,

As we see discouragement on faces around us,
Help us to lean to Your Encouragement.
God of Encouragement, God of Love.

We pray for our Nation, our State, our state of being, the communities in our lives.
The news reports.

We ask You to dwell in us.
Give us Your Love and mercy to find You first.
Bless the Nation, the population praying. Help those who are weary to pray.
Help us to be Strong. Filled with Hope.

Thank You for the Churches and Christian Missionaries finding they aren't in need.
Help the small business owners to find their Good News in You.

Help us with the Vaccinations continuing to roll out.

In these new times, help us find our purpose each Day, pleasing You.

Help us to stay in Good Health.
Comfort those who have lost a loved one.

And to help those suffering to find Healing.
Remind us if we don't grow weary of doing good, we will find our reward.
We need our Hope to last with Your Help.

Bless us with to help with prayer to recover from
Singed nerves and to not have so much loud aggression
and sorrow. To have the encouragement of Better Days to look to.

We have prayed for Dee and Wayne and their grown families with 7 people with
Covid, to find they have done very well healing with Z Packs.
We lift up Elliott, to Jesus to say His Healing Word for Elliott has been experiencing pain.

Let Your Word Go Forth for Your Blessings, Father God.
Bless the President as he and his family and Administration go forth to know our Thanks.

Safe Travel for my son, Alexander.

God Bless the United States of America, please.
And all the Nations seeking Him and His Blessings.

Amen in Jesus Christ.

The Kingdom of Heaven, Jesus tells us,
has Branches for resting in the Comfort of God.

Psalm 133 ~ Behold

Psalm 133

Behold, how good and pleasant it is
    when brothers dwell in unity!

2 It is like the precious oil on the head,
    running down on the beard,
on the beard of Aaron,
running down on the collar of his robes!

3 It is like the dew of Hermon,
which falls on the mountains of Zion.

For there the Lord has commanded the blessing,
    Life forevermore.

Lately, I've observed, as you probably have, how tense the people in our lives are. Concerned. In small ways.

And later today, what truly touches me, minor inconveniences and bothers aren't discussed. I see a lot of bolstering. Bravery. Deliberate encouragement. Valor. Consideration to one another. I realized seeing someone complain about a restaurant, how long it's been where something trivial is complained about. Now, the 'Karens' of the world are helping.

As Mr. Roger's said, "See The Helpers. They are Helping."

 John 14:26

The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance,
whatsoever I have said unto you.

PBS is publishing James Herriot's "All Creatures Great and Small" on Sunday evenings.

A college friend of mine is a Priest. His Church has been open to pray. His congregation has been praying.

My High School friend, had her beautiful mother pass on suddenly and easily (not Covid), after a long Life Well Lived, and a sudden passing to be with her father after 6 years apart. Her Church has found a way to have all gather on Facebook and YouTube to be with her family to remember Good Millie and Celebrate Her Life. Jump back Pandemic.

KSBJ hoped to give 10,000 Christmas Gifts to Texas Children in Foster Homes. The Oil Industry is starkly upturned, remember. Today KSBJ reported the giving was so great, 13,000 Children in Foster Homes received the Bear Project for Foster Children from KSBJ donors.

Our artist friend is making angels and singing.

Family is calling one another more.

People reach out, even from far away.

Ski Mt Herman, Israel. The Seasonal beginnings of the Jordan River.

Like the Dew of Hermon.
Hermon is the mountain feeding the Jordan River.

I'm not sure people can be so deliberately encouraging without letting their hair down at home. What I've witnessed is taking turns to be the more compassionate listener. With an aim at practicing. Listening to venting like Yellow Stone Park sputterings. Mist will rise. Sulfur will smell. At odd intervals. Not a deviation to a sudden panic, part of maturing.

Abba, Father God,

 Ephesians 1:7
In Him, we have redemption through His blood,
 the forgiveness of our trespasses,
according to The riches of his grace

 Ecclesiastes 3:1
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven

 Luke 8:48
And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.”

 Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

For Millie Clark, who Loved Jesus, her Family and Church
She had tremendous insight and prayer.

O God our Creator,
from Your provident hand we have received
our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
You have called us as your people and given us
the right and the duty to worship you, the only true God,
and your Son, Jesus Christ.

Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit,
You call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world,
bringing the Light and the saving truth of the Gospel
to every corner of society.

We ask you to bless us
in our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty.
Give us the strength of mind and heart
to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened;
give us courage in making our voices heard
on behalf of the rights of your Church
and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith.

Grant, we pray, O heavenly Father,
a clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters
gathered in your Church
in this decisive hour in the history of our nation,
We pray for President Trump and his family and all the Administration.

And for peace this coming week and season.
So that, with every trouble withstood
and every danger overcome—
for the sake of our children, our grandchildren,
and all who come after us—
this great land will always be, “One Nation, Under God,
Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All.”

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Eternal Father,
Through the resurrection of Jesus the good news of Your Love has touched the world.

By our baptism we are reborn as your Children of Light.

Through the work of Your Spirit, the glory of Your new creation continues to unfold.

Watch over Your Family of faith.
Inspire us by the prompting of Your Spirit:
that our elders may dream new dreams and our youth may find wisdom in visions.

Give us a courageous heart,
a bold voice and openness of mind,
and above all else, ears that listen.

Help us, as Your family, to discover Your way:
story telling and dialogue which leads to understanding;
ideas which challenge growth;
a journey which will bring hope.

We offer you this prayer for
You are our life, our strength and guide,
Our Loving God, for ever and ever.
Amen in Jesus Christ.

Matthew 5:1-17 ~ He sat down

Matthew 5:1-17

Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him.

2 And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:

~  "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

~  "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

~  "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

~  "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

~  "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

~  "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

~  "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

~  "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

~  "Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.

12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

13 "You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet.

14 "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.

16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

Jesus sits to talk and is comfortable with all the difficulties of life any child of His would have.

Jesus is telling us in the Beatitudes - Life is  Difficult. All the people of Hebrews 11 found life to be difficult.

Jesus is on His Way forward on His Plan. His ministry was short, and He needed to stay on the message He is delivering. Bam. Jesus is telling it how it is.

We like peacemakers.
But we like some fake nicey. Which doesn't hold up, by the way. There is a balance and the balance is the truth needs to be in there in peace.

Meek - we like the expected behaviors. But humor is ok.

Merciful - is a tad outdated. This generation more than other's firmly believe the elbows out, shine group is going to win.

Pure in heart. God says our outlook on life explains our darkness and our light. When we accuse others, that finger is saying we understand that behavior.

Peacemakers
This isn't so posh - you don't want to get near difficulty - it might be harmful. Which is funny because the people who got out of their way to express Mercy actually get real approval. From others. Bullies might get initial nods, the reality - the foundation is sand. Surprisingly, this is true.

Rejoice at the Words of Jesus because - We all clearly need a Savior.

The Beatitudes
Sound like something like a dessert, and you'd want seconds.
Instead, Jesus is telling us life is work in all aspects!

If you look into the revealing of Hearts you find Beatitudes Jesus gave mean something very deep and Personal to the people attending Church. Most Church goers are 50 and older. Because there is an answer to - life. And in the Words of Scripture we begin to see the eternal truth and comfort.

Fruit of the Spirit -  what you get is fortitude.

Poor in Spirit?
What is more discouraging than what prayer groups hear  about reality of Adult Children in a variety of aspects - employment, love, marriage, a better job. Substances. We want more for our children than for ourselves many times. Going to Church to lift up to God - that loved one.

Mourning?
The job providing an income and not a life. The desire to be a worthy person of God and not seeing other than His Grace for that to happen. That the job is more fun than the family. And God is going to find comfort. Sometimes just seeing others doing ok at Church. Sometimes seeing another season of life that has joy. Or a season of life being accomplished that we fear.

The Meek -
Are learning from God, know a new Heaven and a new earth are possible with endurance and a positive attitude. The meek believe in the Favor of God is coming. Being nourished knowing God rewards the faithful. Knowing God is going to be there in the path and waiting on His timing. The Children of God are providing for elderly parents. Giving up their time - going to comfort the love, as life changes! They are encountering being the new last layer and thinking about what gave their lives deeper significance.

Believing God is hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Because in our later decades we decide, "We lived a life worth living." Or waste of time. To know God provides the fuel knowing we are still making a life worth living at all stages.

Blessed are the Merciful -
I know a man at Church who goes deliberately to greet others with great warmth. He Believes Jesus Christ is LOVE. And when he is merciful - the people smile with great warmth. They are encouraged the Body of Christ is good. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."
I love a lady at my Church who Rocks on in Jesus. She brought her husband to the faith by... being nicey? Nope. She had marriage counseling with a Priest who shook the foundations and her husband came away saying, "Jesus!" Her husband gives up his vacation to do his work at Church. He is a Light of Christ - the way he greets people Sincerely. And her child and grandchildren - loved on and loved on and loved  - until they cannot wait to fall into the Doors of Open Church!

Now the other part of the Church Family is usually the family with Children. This younger family is specifically looking for this - Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. The people with small children want to show a framework of life (Law where the blessings are) and the mercy of Jesus to pick up where mankind is fallen. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

The beatitudes build us up. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Abba, Father God,

Your Words accurate and truthful. Even as You sat to talk to Your people, You were making a way to make Heaven on earth. Jesus could have chosen all things and instead He chose to serve us. Saving us to become His. This is work. And worth all of life - to know Jesus. Draw us near to you, O Lord. We need You, Jesus, far more than we are needed.

Father we pray for the anxieties in all of us.
We pray for calm and peace, typically not seen in Pandemic.

Amen in Jesus.

Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say. The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation. The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
