Psalm 133
Behold, how good and pleasant it is
when brothers dwell in unity!
2 It is like the precious oil on the head,
running down on the beard,
on the beard of Aaron,
running down on the collar of his robes!
3 It is like the dew of Hermon,
which falls on the mountains of Zion.
For there the Lord has commanded the blessing,
Life forevermore.
Lately, I've observed, as you probably have, how tense the people in our lives are. Concerned. In small ways.
And later today, what truly touches me, minor inconveniences and bothers aren't discussed. I see a lot of bolstering. Bravery. Deliberate encouragement. Valor. Consideration to one another. I realized seeing someone complain about a restaurant, how long it's been where something trivial is complained about. Now, the 'Karens' of the world are helping.
As Mr. Roger's said, "See The Helpers. They are Helping."
John 14:26
The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance,
whatsoever I have said unto you.
PBS is publishing James Herriot's "All Creatures Great and Small" on Sunday evenings.
A college friend of mine is a Priest. His Church has been open to pray. His congregation has been praying.
My High School friend, had her beautiful mother pass on suddenly and easily (not Covid), after a long Life Well Lived, and a sudden passing to be with her father after 6 years apart. Her Church has found a way to have all gather on Facebook and YouTube to be with her family to remember Good Millie and Celebrate Her Life. Jump back Pandemic.
KSBJ hoped to give 10,000 Christmas Gifts to Texas Children in Foster Homes. The Oil Industry is starkly upturned, remember. Today KSBJ reported the giving was so great, 13,000 Children in Foster Homes received the Bear Project for Foster Children from KSBJ donors.
Our artist friend is making angels and singing.
Family is calling one another more.
People reach out, even from far away.
Like the Dew of Hermon.
Hermon is the mountain feeding the Jordan River.
I'm not sure people can be so deliberately encouraging without letting their hair down at home. What I've witnessed is taking turns to be the more compassionate listener. With an aim at practicing. Listening to venting like Yellow Stone Park sputterings. Mist will rise. Sulfur will smell. At odd intervals. Not a deviation to a sudden panic, part of maturing.
Abba, Father God,
Ephesians 1:7
In Him, we have redemption through His blood,
the forgiveness of our trespasses,
according to
The riches of his grace
Ecclesiastes 3:1
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven
Luke 8:48
And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.”
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
For Millie Clark, who Loved Jesus, her Family and Church
She had tremendous insight and prayer.
O God our Creator,
from Your provident hand we have received
our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
You have called us as your people and given us
the right and the duty to worship you, the only true God,
and your Son, Jesus Christ.
Through the power and working of your Holy Spirit,
You call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world,
bringing the Light and the saving truth of the Gospel
to every corner of society.
We ask you to bless us
in our vigilance for the gift of religious liberty.
Give us the strength of mind and heart
to readily defend our freedoms when they are threatened;
give us courage in making our voices heard
on behalf of the rights of your Church
and the freedom of conscience of all people of faith.
Grant, we pray, O heavenly Father,
a clear and united voice to all your sons and daughters
gathered in your Church
in this decisive hour in the history of our nation,
We pray for President Trump and his family and all the Administration.
And for peace this coming week and season.
So that, with every trouble withstood
and every danger overcome—
for the sake of our children, our grandchildren,
and all who come after us—
this great land will always be, “One Nation, Under God,
Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for All.”
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Eternal Father,
Through the resurrection of Jesus the good news of Your Love has touched the world.
By our baptism we are reborn as your Children of Light.
Through the work of Your Spirit, the glory of Your new creation continues to unfold.
Watch over Your Family of faith.
Inspire us by the prompting of Your Spirit:
that our elders may dream new dreams and our youth may find wisdom in visions.
Give us a courageous heart,
a bold voice and openness of mind,
and above all else, ears that listen.
Help us, as Your family, to discover Your way:
story telling and dialogue which leads to understanding;
ideas which challenge growth;
a journey which will bring hope.
We offer you this prayer for
You are our life, our strength and guide,
Our Loving God, for ever and ever.
Amen in Jesus Christ.
