Haggai 2:4-6,9
Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, declares the Lord.Be strong, O Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest.
Be strong, all you people of the land, declares the Lord.
Work, for I am with you, declares the Lord of hosts, 5 according to the covenant that I made with you when you came out of Egypt. My Spirit remains in your midst. Fear not. 6 For thus says the Lord of hosts
The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former, says the Lord of hosts. And in this place I will give peace, declares the Lord of hosts.’”
Healing is the effort to rest when needed, exercise daily, take in sunshine, be safe, and encouraging.
Healing is also about honesty. And observing not only what is placed near us, and existing in God's Plan of Good News. God is always putting in living seeds to know something is growing in God's Good Plan. We do well to stay with honesty and truth. Then we can be nourished to be Strong.
Solemn Faces.
We have all had so much going on. The Daily Damage Report. To see people in public, unobserved, is to find stress filled faces. Our Church has not greatly recorded a loss this year. The Public Christian Radio records giving if more than they expected. But it's important to notice the truth, people are having concerns. And look solemn.
Haggai is the time period Judea has returned from Babylon, the second Exile. Jerusalem was a place destroyed and burned. The people are righting the fragments and removing what was charred. Not, what this generation had known in living in the Hanging Gardens of Babylon where the Exiles could freely gather to worship. Places were determined.
The people are discovering their identity in new situations.
Haggai is reporting the Good News. The Times aren't easy yet, but find joy in the surrounding situation. Observe what the mercy is and find gratitude.
Haggai 2 doesn't promise immediate relief as the Chapter opens, and yet verses 18 and 19 are the Lord's promise. He is proclaiming Better Days Going Forward.
18 Consider from this day onward, from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month. Since the day that the foundation of the Lord's temple was laid, consider: 19 Is the seed yet in the barn? Indeed, the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have yielded nothing. But from this day on I will bless you.”
