Psalm 78:1-39
78 Give ear,
O my people, to my teaching;
incline your ears to the words of my mouth!
2 I will open my mouth in a parable;
I will utter dark sayings from of old,
3 things that we have heard and known,
that our fathers have told us.
4 We will not hide them from their children,
but tell to the coming generation
the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might,
and the wonders that he has done.
5 He established a testimony in Jacob
and appointed a law in Israel,
which he commanded our fathers
to teach to their children,
6 that the next generation might know them,
the children yet unborn,
and arise and tell them to their children,
7 so that they should set their hope in God
and not forget the works of God,
but keep his commandments;
8 and that they should not be like their fathers,
a stubborn and rebellious generation,
a generation whose heart was not steadfast,
whose spirit was not faithful to God.
9 The Ephraimites, armed with the bow,
turned back on the day of battle.
10 They did not keep God's covenant,
but refused to walk according to his law.
11 They forgot his works
and the wonders that he had shown them.
12 In the sight of their fathers he performed wonders
in the land of Egypt, in the fields of Zoan.
13 He divided the sea and let them pass through it,
and made the waters stand like a heap.
14 In the daytime he led them with a cloud,
and all the night with a fiery light.
15 He split rocks in the wilderness
and gave them drink abundantly as from the deep.
16 He made streams come out of the rock
and caused waters to flow down like rivers.
17 Yet they sinned still more against him,
rebelling against the Most High in the desert.
18 They tested God in their heart
by demanding the food they craved.
19 They spoke against God, saying,
“Can God spread a table in the wilderness?
20 He struck the rock so that water gushed out
and streams overflowed.
Can he also give bread
or provide meat for his people?”
21 Therefore, when the Lord heard, he was full of wrath;
a fire was kindled against Jacob;
his anger rose against Israel,
22 because they did not believe in God
and did not trust his saving power.
23 Yet he commanded the skies above
and opened the doors of heaven,
24 and he rained down on them manna to eat
and gave them the grain of heaven.
25 Man ate of the bread of the angels;
he sent them food in abundance.
26 He caused the east wind to blow in the heavens,
and by his power he led out the south wind;
27 he rained meat on them like dust,
winged birds like the sand of the seas;
28 he let them fall in the midst of their camp,
all around their dwellings.
29 And they ate and were well filled,
for he gave them what they craved.
30 But before they had satisfied their craving,
while the food was still in their mouths,
31 the anger of God rose against them,
and he killed the strongest of them
and laid low the young men of Israel.
32 In spite of all this, they still sinned;
despite his wonders, they did not believe.
33 So he made their days vanish like a breath,
and their years in terror.
34 When he killed them, they sought him;
they repented and sought God earnestly.
35 They remembered that God was their rock,
the Most High God their redeemer.
36 But they flattered him with their mouths;
they lied to him with their tongues.
37 Their heart was not steadfast toward him;
they were not faithful to his covenant.
38 Yet he, being compassionate,
atoned for their iniquity
and did not destroy them;
he restrained his anger often
and did not stir up all his wrath.
39 He remembered that they were but flesh,
a wind that passes and comes not again.
The Children of Israel did not know the name of God. They did not have a Bible. They merely knew as slaves, Abraham, their father had been given a Promise of a God. Actually 'The God'.
And with all the signs and wonders of God, Hebrews 11, God commended them for their faith to walk through an ocean looking like walking right beside Niagara Falls on either side, with the Egyptian Army chasing them.
God did not have seasoned veterans of the faith, He had slaves with gold. They did not have great learning or great works. They had been told for generations to be submissive. Obedient. And now they were free to be obedient in the Desert. They flattered God and lied and went to their tents to be honest and rude and far from faithful.
And was God so brutal as to have plagues, earthquakes and wars as well as time - to change the fate of the Slaves?
No, all these newbies were equal. Equal opportunity.
Some found faith. Some found death. God was giving them the test of time, hunger, illness, uncertainty, and His Word.
Joshua did so well, he waited a lifetime to see his advice followed. And we think the slaves died off and the free generation entered. The Bible says they all entered minus the extreme warriors. Probably another test of God to see if, they would have the faith to obey God in taking the Promised Land.
Tests of God. Taking up idols or walking the Path God would have us do.
As for me and my house - we will serve the Lord.
In Community. In Families. When the Idols came out. What others' will chose is their own path. God is still their God and their soul still is His priority. We do not work salvation for others. We will and must choose to please God.
Do we have this today?
Yes. We have been told many things in this culture.
What is Fascism.
Pope Benedict XVI - our last Pope. Personally, I thought he used his time to help sexual abuse victims while he was young enough. I like him.
Pope Benedict XVI - teaches us a lesson about Fascism. At the age of 10, without joy or verve, the parents of Pope Benedict XVI signed him up to be part of the Nazi Party.
Life is 5% event and 95% reaction.
Nazi is 5% wanna Nazi and 95% we think we oughta gotta.
"One Opinion"
You will have one opinion on child care when your child is 6 weeks old.
You will have one opinion on homosexuality. Or the SS will take your bakery. Or your apple orchard ish.
You will have one opinion on bathrooms.
You will have one opinion on gender. You will believe everything you read on Reddit. Never mind prison reports.
You will have one opinion on the age of consent is 12 years old.
You will believe what the state dictates to you for your thoughts.
You will believe what your friends and coworkers do.
And then you will be told what the definition of a 'hater' is.
Maybe you will be told to only believe in one gender of mankind.
You will be told how to worship.
Did Hitler stick to the Jews? Ask the parents of handicapped children. Ask the Ministers. Ask some of the Olympic participants. Maybe, next time, it is not a religious war, it's merely one opinion. One demoralizing opinion. And you better not pray out loud.
Did The Acts of the Apostles face a harsh world? You know and believe that. And what did change the world? Honest Mercy. Honest Care. Honest Love. Not the religious righty-tighty. Not the tsk-tsk. Not the Law. Only the Truth sets us free. Give Justice with Mercy. The Mercy you would hope for.
People need care. Genuine God cares for the world, He gave ... His Son. His policy on prayer is open. 12 Open Gates of Heaven.
We saw today in Washington D.C. what hate does. There will be more walls, more security, less communication. Love, Mercy, Care are the real direction.
Abba God,
You are the God of Love. You are the God of encouragement!!! And we are getting to the encouragement PORTION!!!
All who call upon Jesus Christ with belief will be saved. Saved!
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
We pray over 6/14/2017 Drudge Report and 6/13/2017 Business Insiders reporting Billionaires are stockpiling land. We pray innovation and new opportunities for transport, job creation, and small town living with more economic home costs. We Pray Miracles of Jesus Christ and new hope!!!
We pray for Reid Hoffman, John Malone, Ted Turner, Philip Anschutz, Jeff Bezos and J.Lawrence Wilson Former CEO of Rohm and Haas.
YAY GOD!!! JESUS CHRIST THE LORD.
We want for ourselves and our loved ones, that Jesus dwells in our hearts through our belief in His Love. Faith — that we, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength. And in that strength to comprehend with all the saints, living, in Heaven, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, of God's Love. Each day knowing the love of Christ surpasses knowledge and dwells in goodness of love within. We want to live and experience being filled and filling our loved ones and people God gives us with all the fullness of God.
My God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
