Psalm 91
3 For He will deliver you from the snare of the fowlerand from the deadly pestilence.
My favorite protection is an event from Jesus' life.
Mark 8
23 And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, “Do you see anything?”
24 And he looked up and said, “I see people, but they look like trees, walking.”
25 Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.
26 And he sent him to his home, saying, “Do not even enter the village.”
Jesus tells us He has Joy in our living day-to-day existence. I love the man for having blown his 'problems' up to seeing people as tree sized. We really get bogged down, making our difficulties much, much larger than they will be in a year. Jesus healed the man's perceptions. Jesus was not going to let the miracle go - just a lagging behind miracle.
Partial prayer? Keep Praying!!!
And let's nevah, evah forget what Jesus had to say about a new heart, a changed life, a renewed vision, a new outlook on life ...!!! ....
26 And he sent him to his home, saying, “Do not even enter the village.”
JESUS CHRIST.•:*¨¨*:•.AWESOME.•:*¨¨*:•.PERFECT.•:*¨¨*:•.FROM WHOM YOU WILL LOOK TO SEEK.•:*¨¨*:• YOUR SALVATION .•:*¨¨*:•.YOUR DIRECTION .•:*¨¨*:•.THE REAL SCOPE OF THE DIFFICULTY YOU FACE.
Is your difficulty tree sized? Really.
Will it be here next year - just the same? If so, Thank God.
And to whom will we look to get our Strength?
The Joy of the Lord is our Strength.
I love the perfection of the healing. The diligence of Jesus. The layers of application from our God of Love and God of Encouragement!!!
Judges 7 and 8
When Gideon was standing over the 135,000 army of the Midianites, Gideon was known to express fear. God told Gideon to go down into the camp and listen to a couple men tell about a dream.
One man said that he dreamed that a large loaf of barley rolled down the hill and crushed the encampment. The other man said that it was a vision that Gideon would trample them. They did not know that Gideon and a servant were sitting outside their tent listening to the conversation.
Gideon returned to the camp encouraged for the upcoming battle. Gideon equipped the men with trumpets, clay pots and lanterns. At Gideon’s signal they broke their pots and blew their horns. The men of Midian were startled awake with all the noise. Confused, they began fighting one another. Of those who escaped (only 15,000), Gideon was able to capture them in the chase that followed
How will we face the future? With Faith. David battled for 22 years. And finally, Samuel 8 occurred and David was fulfilling God's Plans.
Hebrews 2 tells us the fulfilling of all things work together for Good. We cannot comprehend how mightily the Will of God works in all things.
Even trees. This is a great story to combine with the healed blind man and his perceptions.
1 Chronicles 14
In the Rephiam Valley, Balsam trees grew in groves. God had the wind blow through the tops of the Balsam trees, so leaves began rustling and branches rubbing against each other, creating a sound like men marching. The sound was so fearsome, the Philistine army thought the huge Israelite army was advancing. Terrified they fled the valley. David’ army pursued and struck down the Philistines from Gibeon to Gezar, a range of about 15 miles.
At the time of this battle, Gezar was not a Philistine city; it was held by the Egyptians (Joshua 10:33). Apparently, the Philistine soldiers were so frightened, they fled to the powerful Egyptians for safety. The Word of God concludes, “David’s fame spread throughout every land, and the Lord made all the nations fear him.”
And Father God is still working and His Son Jesus is too.
My son was on a Breathing Monitor for a year for Apnea (basically SIDS for preterm babies). The Pediatrician was a very good friend to us for decades and he urged me to stop using the Breathing Monitor. I told my dear Pediatrician I could not do that at 10 months, Cal had increased in events. For some inexplicable reason, Cal increased during months 10 to 12 and at a year old, was finished with Apnea forever. Sometimes, you have to listen to your heart. God helped our oldest son learn to breathe when he stopped breathing.
When Cal was 5, he had a virus that mimicked hip arthritis. The path of the virus is 2 weeks ill and languid, then wellness and then a fever a week later. We felt very worried about our 5 year old son. We had to have a car repair during the fever and we saw a bumper sticker reading "Have Faith". I knew Cal would be well when we got home, and he was. This virus never repeated.
One time Cal was coming home from college after a light rain, his car swung 360' and he did not hit any cars in 5 lanes of traffic. God was good to him. Very good.
Cal's car broke down late one night on a highway coming home. A policeman friend sat with him in the car, traffic was unusually light and all went well. His parents found themselves crossing through Texas very, very late at night.
Cal was one of the first people on all Texas College Campus to get Swine Flu. His dad sat with him while I was with my mother. He recovered. God is good to us.
I was suddenly concerned about Cal and his adult job. They were sending the offices home to work from home. I was worried about my adult son in a far away city alone and working. We had Fr. Mike Endicott coming to pray with our Church. The next day, I got a phone call saying he would come home and live near home.
Alexander, our younger son, stopped breathing at a Pizza place when he was about a year old. He suddenly had a huge fever. He became unconscious at the Pizza place. We realized as he turned light blue, we were in bad shape. The Restaurant called for someone who knew CPR. CPR was performed (as I calmed down enough to recall Cal's preemie CPR lesson) and he gasped and lived.
My younger son came home from college graduation and mentioned he had a facial mole that would just spontaneously bleed on occasion. On the way to the doctor, we tried to remember if this was a year or longer. It was more like 4 years. We were horrified. The mole turned out to be benign. Breathe again.
My older son gave his car, he earned, to his younger brother, as Edward was ill. Wow. Later we were selling the car for my older son and realized the beautiful little car had no real headlights working and the windshield wipers really were useless. This was on a Bridge at night, Edward and I were literally screaming. My younger son thought this was quite funny. (His college apartment was on the Baylor campus edge.) Let me tell you ~ GOD IS GOOD.
Reminding me of skidding on ice in my 20s and being saved by God to the astonishment of the driver behind me.
We have seen friends put peer pressure on our kids. And seen them through rough events.
The Truth is, if you sit and think of your life, you will realize, Abba is a Father and answers prayers for us all.
We all have times we can think of like strep throat suddenly the evening after the doctor visit and the fever spikes to 107'. God was good to Cal. Aren't we glad for the blessings of surviving infant surgery. Antibiotics. Aspirin.
God has seen us all through times of need. What can we give God, He has not given to us? Thanks.
And then there are times where your infant daughter dies in childbirth. In Faith we realize, God is above all things. And there are blessings as Corrie Ten Baum says in Thanking God and seeing His Provision as our lives progress and we grow up and go Home to God. Knowing we will have Eternity with my daughter, Isabelle.
What do we do about the Anxiety we all have from time to time? Realize God never fired the Disciples for honest reactions.
Faith is not just Thanking God for the apparent Victories. Faith is believing - God is God and all is His.
Abba,
Sometimes gratitude and sometimes anxiety and sometimes acceptance does not have Words.
Your Holy Spirit intercedes for us. And Prays for us. As does Your Word.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,
for to this you were called as members of one body.
And be thankful.
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through Jesus Christ Victorious.
The Blessing of Jesus Our Lord live in our hearts. The Joy of the Lord is our Strength. And our Alleluia is found.
Amen to being covered in the Name of Jesus!!!.
