Paradise, who'd say no?
John 3:8
The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound,
but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes.
So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.
If we needed a forecast for Thanksgiving - across the entire continent - a perfect forecast for every year it would be - Wind. Comforting wind, family talk. Or hurricane. Gusts that merely banter about. Windsheer shear. Whirling dervish of yada yada. The ahhh of just what you longed for.
With all the micro nano evolution of Nasa and buildings and buildings of computers which eventually became a hand held calculator and then home computer, and now phone and tablet. Where are we heading next?
Not the happiest of all things - wind farms. Birds don't do well. Insects increase. Houses move very, very far away. The expense of the things and the weight uselessly used to create the energy.
What if each Palm branch had a micro device down a trunk sending the electrical pulse where the palm frond waved? Probably, the useless old heavy, expensive things would recycle well and birds would be happier. More energy gathered from a natural process. Plant along major highways and you have winner, winner Catfish Dinner.
So, what was the actual night Jesus was considering this wind?
The Night one of the all-important Sanhedrin decided to find out about the goodness - during the dark - to keep his political thing and power intact.
John 3
3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
9 Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?”
Jesus and the complete concept of Shepherd. Jesus is going to do like St. Michael and be polite to the devil for asking for the body of Moses. Yeah, a real situation described in the Scriptures. This is used telling us that being polite is required. Even to the devil. If we consider a real-life drama of this - we could consider having to speak to the Mafia Mob Boss. Polite is a good thing. In Georgia, they call this, "Capeachy!" We could all use more peachy.
And when we adopted to Standard Poodle Puppies, we really learned a good thing from the excellent Poodle Breeder, we say, "Aae instead of No." The goal is to say, "Aae" easily. Off the counter. "Aae." Not to roar, "NO!!!" We want our doggie fur family to blend in, to be comfortable, to BEHAVE, to have Joy. Without upsets. Capeachy?
Excellent travail bon et fidèle. Bon.
Jesus as the Shepherd and friend to Nicodemus is going to give him the truth.
John 3
Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
2 This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.”
3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4 Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?”
5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’
8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
9 Nicodemus said to him, “How can these things be?”
10 Jesus answered him, “Are you the teacher of Israel and yet you do not understand these things? 11 Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know, and bear witness to what we have seen, but you do not receive our testimony.
12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how can you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended into heaven except he who descended from heaven, the Son of Man.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.
Now we were cruising right along at wind speed, why did Jesus go and throw in the part about the serpent?
Jesus is the manifest Word of God. Jesus became Light of the world, before Abraham existed, by being created by God's Very Word. "Let there be Light." And because God speaks of yesterday, today and tomorrow - Jesus is always going to Shepherd us at the level we need. So each time we read a passage of Scripture, we find New Wind. New Shepherding.
Why throw in the serpent on the Bronze Stick? It's part of the Exodus, a Great Act of God. Nicodemus has 'arrived' because he understands something like Sherlock Holmes, "The game is afoot." Nicodemus is being reminded of the Exodus by the Acts of Jesus of healing all people. Jesus is reminding Nicodemus he is mortal, Nicodemus will stand before God and His Judgement. Maybe Jesus was reminding Nicodemus the Serpent on the Bronze Stick is in history of Pharaoh Seti II and they converse on history and Hezekiah recorded Biblically destroying the Serpent 1100 years later. Maybe is was later a teaching, private, conversation?! An example of Jesus recording His ideas on human conversation??!
And Very Probably,
Jesus was saying to use our words, our wind, with great care not to be the serpent.
We take the advice of Jesus and we apply Him with Love. Mercy. And genuine sincerity.
And we arrive at being able to converse with Jesus with Great Joy!
Abba!
We have returned to speak with You again!
All our Thanks for Your Great Mercies. For Speaking Your Word of Blessings, of Joy, Love and Peace. Forever!
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart - be pleasing and acceptable within the Tender Mercy and Love You hold for me.
Cover us with Jesus. Wrap Your arms as Great Wings around those I Love and Give them Jesus Always.
Holding Forth with all the Beloved, the saints of God, praying across Your Good, Good, Good, 10 times Good Creation since Light. Filling Your Creation all over the fullness of Your Good earth with the Love of Jesus. Lifting up hearts, souls and lives as We Trust in God.
Forever and ever. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllleluia. In Jesus. Forever and Ever - Ahhhh Amen.
