Luke 20:27-40
There came to him some Sadducees, those who deny that there is a resurrection,
28 and they asked him a question, saying, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies, having a wife but no children, the man must take the widow and raise up offspring for his brother. 29 Now there were seven brothers. The first took a wife, and died without children. 30 And the second 31 and the third took her, and likewise all seven left no children and died. 32 Afterward the woman also died. 33 In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife will the woman be? For the seven had her as wife.”
34 And Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage,
35 but those who are considered worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, 36 for they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.
37 But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.
38 Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for all live to him.”
39 Then some of the scribes answered, “Teacher, you have spoken well.” 40 For they no longer dared to ask him any question.
Apparently, groups of people have bunched up and given verbal harassment for millenniums.
But we knew this even in the Old Testament. You'd think the Blessing and Anointing of God would magically make this deliciously easy. However, better than being easy, Jesus gives us ideas and reasons and Help.
Why do people harass each other?
John 3

And this is the verdict: The Light has come into the world, but mankind loved the darkness rather than the Light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come into the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.
Immaturity, boredom, hiding pain, greed, envy, lack of diligent intelligence, fear, from loss, or power, material gain, hopelessness, hiding themselves - will become worse, pathetic humor, enjoying conflict, chaos or lying. However, God's Word is more to the point. God can be profoundly succinct.
We could take time to discern the problem, or we could simply call it darkness and be aware. In fact, Psychiatry Today states a new method for helping people is teaching the patient to stop. Stop being on a dog path that isn't solvable today. Find a new dog path - towards workable solutions.
Examples would be considered to be solution finding.
Let's start with the Heavenly Host. Reports from the Transfiguration meeting. Moses was there, after all.
Deuteronomy 34:5,6
So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, as the LORD had said. 6 And He buried him in a valley in the land of Moab facing Beth-peor, and no one to this day knows the location of his grave.
We don't find out about this amazing harassment until after the Transfiguration:
Jude 1: 8
Yet in the same way these dreamers defile their bodies, reject authority, and slander glorious beings.
9 But even the archangel Michael, when he disputed with the devil over the body of Moses, did not presume to bring a slanderous charge against him, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”
10 These men, however, slander what they do not understand, and like irrational animals, they will be destroyed by the things they do instinctively.
11 Woe to them! They have traveled the path of Cain; they have rushed headlong into the error of Balaam; they have perished in Korah’s rebellion.
Does Jesus agree?
Yes. Scripture supports Scripture.
Matthew 13
24 Here is another story Jesus told: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer who planted good seed in his field. 25 But that night as the workers slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat, then slipped away. 26 When the crop began to grow and produce grain, the weeds also grew.
27 “The farmer’s workers went to him and said, ‘Sir, the field where you planted that good seed is full of weeds! Where did they come from?’
28 “‘An enemy has done this!’ the farmer exclaimed.
“
‘Should we pull out the weeds?’ they asked.
29 “‘No,’ he replied, ‘you’ll uproot the wheat if you do. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. Then I will tell the harvesters to sort out the weeds, tie them into bundles, and burn them, and to put the wheat in the barn.’”
Why Bad Things Happen to Good People. Jesus is talking to us.
Jesus tells us there is Trouble in this world. And we are to Fight the Good Fight. He gives examples when dealing with some amazingly scary topics.
- Michael is Polite
- Michael understands the depth of the Darkness
- St. Michael is not ridiculous enough to stay in Polite Mode. Archangel Michael is staying in the Truth and is going to use the Truth.
- Michael of God's Heavenly Calling is calling on God for Help.
- Michael is going to get out of the vicinity. The Bible tells us to turn the other cheek. Michael did not give the Darkness time to enjoy the conflict or to escalate. Michael is going to move on.
- Jude mentions Korah.
- Numbers 16 Korah rebelled against Moses along with 249 co-conspirators and were punished for their rebellion when God sent fire from heaven to consume all 250 of them. ... God then smote 14,700 men with plague, as punishment for objecting to Korah's destruction.
- God specifically warns us not to get involved in trouble we should stay away from. Exactly as Michael did.
- Balaam knew he was gifted and wanted to profit. God gave Balaam room to understand. Just as Jesus gave His Brothers time and patience. Balaam realized he should not enter into judgement and curse the Work of God. Later, another story of the Old Testament is carried into The New Testament, Balaam tried to provide temptations to lure the Good People of God into trouble. The stories compliment each other - about hidden directions. Just as Jude explains.

for My salvation is coming soon,
and My righteousness will be revealed.
Isaiah 57:15
For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
"I dwell in a high and holy place, and with the oppressed and humble of spirit,
to restore the spirit of the lowly and revive the heart of the contrite.
Hosea 12:6
But you must return to your God, maintaining love and justice,
and always waiting on your God.
Amos 5:24
But let justice roll on like a river, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.

For this very reason,
make every effort to add to your faith goodness;
and to goodness, knowledge;
6 and to knowledge, self-control;
and to self-control, perseverance;
and to perseverance, godliness;
7and to godliness, mutual affection;
and to mutual affection,
Love.
For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure,
they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge
of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Dwell in us, Love us,
Help us to seek You and see Heaven First.
In Jesus, our Wonderful Jesus,
We won't be forgetting we have been cleansed from past sins. Therefore, my brothers and sisters, we make every effort to confirm our calling and election. And doing these things, we will never stumble.

Our Prayers are Received in Your Heart.
Because of Jesus Christ, we will receive a rich welcome into the eternal
Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
