Micah 6
Hear what the Lord says:
Arise, plead your case before the mountains,
and let the hills hear your voice.
2 Hear, you mountains, the indictment of the Lord,
and you enduring foundations of the earth,
for the Lord has an indictment against his people,
and he will contend with Israel.
3 “O my people, what have I done to you?
How have I wearied you? Answer me!
4 For I brought you up from the land of Egypt
and redeemed you from the house of slavery,
and I sent before you Moses,
Aaron, and Miriam.
5 O my people, remember what Balak king of Moab devised,
and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him,
and what happened from Shittim to Gilgal,
that you may know the righteous acts of the Lord.”
6 “With what shall I come before the Lord,
and bow myself before God on high?
Shall I come before him with burnt offerings,
with calves a year old?
7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams,
with ten thousands of rivers of oil?
Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression,
the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”
8 He has told you, O man, what is good;and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
The voice of the Lord cries to the city—
and it is sound wisdom to fear your name:
“Hear of the rod and of him who appointed it!
10 Can I forget any longer the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked,
and the scant measure that is accursed?
11 Shall I acquit the man with wicked scales
and with a bag of deceitful weights?
12 Your rich men are full of violence;
your inhabitants speak lies,
and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
13 Therefore I strike you with a grievous blow,
making you desolate because of your sins.
14 You shall eat, but not be satisfied,
and there shall be hunger within you;
you shall put away, but not preserve,
and what you preserve I will give to the sword.
15 You shall sow, but not reap;
you shall tread olives, but not anoint yourselves with oil;
you shall tread grapes, but not drink wine.
16 For you have kept the statutes of Omri,
and all the works of the house of Ahab;
and you have walked in their counsels,
that I may make you a desolation, and your inhabitants a hissing;
so you shall bear the scorn of my people.”
Yes, we would all agree, all of our Churches have seen quite a lot of extensive and sincere prayer.
What has seen as much prayer?
People always comfort themselves about prayer in school, with the truth. “Because there are tests in school, there will always be Prayer!” And really, the truth is, you began by having all types of prayer for you.
Psalm 139
And your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
and the light about me be night,”
even the darkness is not dark to you;
the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with you.
For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
I awake, and I am still with you.
Nothing is more prayed over than the child in the womb. Surely, the Hand and Heart of God turns to the innocence of new Life. A newly formed beating heart. Does the child dance within? Is the child active? What is the child doing. An unborn child has an outstanding, amazing amount of prayer from all the family.
Innocence and Prayer.
Families tend to have centuries of the same work. And in our family, we tend to have Ministers and Priests. We've seen an amazing amount of, 50 years of more private Minister comments. We all like to be 'in the know', we've seen Priests talk about their faith deserting them. And seen renewal with the belief God has to be the One in Charge. With startling and remarkable changes. Renewal.
We need open hearts for the Renewal God would bring.
This is a time people feel overwhelmed. All of us.
One of the most Wonderous Comments living within me came from Bishop Sam Hulsey. Not everyone always agreed with Sam Hulsey, and that did not dampen his love of the Lord and watching to find His Grace and Mercy flow to fill all.
Sam Hulsey was always sincere, genuine and gracious. One of the comments made about Bishop Sam still delights me. “He always loved Beauty. Beautiful lawns. Well-behaved Children.” I adore this. I bet Jesus would applaud. We all do a lot of scampering like puppies, over every formerly clean surfaces.
Now here is the absolute clincher for Bishop Sam. We were standing on a hill overlooking Dallas and it was October. There was storm leaving on one side of the Texas Huge Sky, and Beautiful colors of peace and prosperity on the other side of Texas' Sky.
Bishop Sam was being congratulated for finding some of the most Beautiful Scripture of the Word of God for the family wedding. Sam put his arm around me and smiled, the warmth of God Himself. And Bishop Sam said, “The Word of God is Promise. Promise of Eternal Redemption. Jesus has taken the Wrath of God we earned and covered the wrath of Judgement. We find what life is without His Love and His Promise, we take all of Scripture and understand what we have to Stand in His Love. Covered by the Grace of Jesus Christ.”
Raise your hand if you vote for this:
making you desolate because of your sins.
14 You shall eat, but not be satisfied,
and there shall be hunger within you;
you shall put away, but not preserve,
and what you preserve I will give to the sword.
15 You shall sow, but not reap;
you shall tread olives, but not anoint yourselves with oil;
you shall tread grapes, but not drink wine.
16 For you have kept the statutes of Omri,
and all the works of the house of Ahab;
and you have walked in their counsels,
that I may make you a desolation, and your inhabitants a hissing;
so you shall bear the scorn of my people.”
I vote, quickly and permanently, to stay away from the statutes of Omri and the house of Ahab.
Counsel away.
Is the Lord not going to fulfill His Word. The Lord's Word will never be empty. And the Lord God Almighty is Righteous in His Wisdom. We do well to Heed and Hear and Do the Word of the Lord.
This isn't a light word, this is the Willing Work of God. To believe the Word of God and those He has sent.
Hear what the Lord says:
The voice of the Lord cries to the city—
Know the Righteous Acts of the Lord
and it is sound wisdom
Will the Lord be pleased
enduring foundations of the earth
HE has told you, O man, what is good
and
what does the LORD require of you
to do Justice
and to Love Kindness
and
Walk Humbly with Your God
The voice of the Lord cries to the city—
and it is sound wisdom
When Jesus was describing the Lord God, His Father, Who has delighted Jesus, Proverbs 8.
Jesus told us the Parable of Ten Talents, if we see God as mean and stingy, we have told God what we think. If we expect to see:
Hebrews 11:6
Without faith it is impossible to please Him,
for he who comes to God must believe that He is
and
that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him
We can delete all of Micah 6 minus verse 8, however, then we aren't looking for the Sincerity of God's Nature. We are only looking for the Bread of Life, which used to irritate Jesus and cause Him to want to go to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, away from the 'blessing seekers'.
The Ten Talents Parable has 3 parts. We miss the point, not to read all three parts.
If we never knew the storm, how would we be Grateful to Jesus for calming the
wind and the waves?
Abba, Father,
Hosea 6:6
For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.
Psalms 5:7
But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.
Deuteronomy 5:10
But showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
Deuteronomy 7:9
Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commandments.
Psalms 6:4
Turn, LORD, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.
Psalms 36:7
How precious is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
Jeremiah 33:11
The sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, and the voices of those who bring thank offerings to the house of the LORD, saying, “Give thanks to the LORD Almighty, for the LORD is good; his love endures forever.” For I will restore the fortunes of the land as they were before,' says the LORD.
1 Chronicles 17:13
I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will never take my love away from him, as I took it away from your predecessor.
John describes God, as God of Love and Encouragement.
The Prophets agree and say the Word of God is fulfilled.
