Matthew 2:9-11
After listening to the king, they went on their way.
And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was.
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.
11 And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother,
and they fell down and worshiped him.
Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.
Living Words of God Almighty Father.
Let's begin with Good News! I love this passage. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus, the Babe, Lamb and Son of God, and His Mother, have had an upgrade. They are in a house! Someone has great heart in the Nativity.
Bringing us to our lead photo for this Scripture Post. Honor. Heart. Keep.
In this Advent Season, these are mighty fine distinctions.
Omicron and Travel have left a mark on Christmas Travel
But not Christmas.
Advent for our family has seen the planning of two Funeral Memorials to late 80s elderly, frail family members with Covid fatality. Two Memorial Services. Unrelated illness, two more living people with Covid, vaccinated, in my late mother's house. Next. Two ICU family members after the two deaths, two Memorials, two living Covid cases - to young family members. And then a third case of Covid. Now a third infant preemie in the NIC unit. Gasp, with about four horrendous upheaval loud and emotional ... discussions. Family wide. With some warm-hearted, new reunions of heart.
(If you are counting, that's 14 events of some heavy measure.)
And today... two more cases of Covid, probably Delta variant with smell and taste loss. 16.
And an Ambulance noise physically in the background as I type this. Lord Jesus, we need You everywhere. Amen and Amen.
Christmas Eve is when we got the news, this gonna be Christmas with Edward and me, unless my
son decides my humor is going to fly, and they are going to take me up on the Monty Python "Comfy Chair" ... below...
Christmas has not flown. The Miraculous is still Wondrously Available.
We have to adjust our sights on our View Point.
A Heart, Soul Adjustment.
Still some Blue Sky
Last year, there was an astonishing display of Christmas Lights beginning November 1st.
We were new to Pandemic.
This Christmas Season, driving across Houston suburbs, we were taking our son's door step dinner, Chicken Noodle Asian Soup. I was saddened to see very few Christmas Lights. When I was in High School, you could count on Christmas Lights burning out in one season. And we would dash to the Pharmacy to pick them up because it was late at night as we discovered the inevitable Christmas Lights were dead.
Now, we have much more reliable Christmas Lights. If you look closely, you see some are scratched and changed to more mellow colors.
Honor. Heart. Keep.
I'm fine with Christmas being quieter. The Spirit of Christmas is Love. We will see these last three cases of Covid survive well. We will see the people we love again. We will see those who have entered Triumphant into Heaven, God's Kingdom again.
This year putting out the Christmas Tree, I realized, all the Christmas gear isn't for show. Honoring Jesus. This is honoring Christ in our heart. With Love for all we know, to be basked in the glow of Light. And if this Light isn't seen, this is still the Love I feel having demonstration for those we Love, Honor and Cherish. A demonstration of Love. And like God isn't Immanuel to touch and hold, this Love is steadfast and will be here glowing, even if we look forward to a better day.
Thank God and His Mercies.
