Psalm 130
A Song of Ascents.
Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord!
O Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my pleas for mercy!
If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
that you may be feared.
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in His Word I hope;
my soul waits for the Lord
more than watchmen for the morning,
more than watchmen for the morning.
O Israel, hope in the Lord!
For with the Lord there is steadfast love,
and with Him is plentiful redemption.
And He will redeem Israel
from all his iniquities.
Hebrews 1:3
The Lord upholds the Universe with His Word
Psalm 130 is recited as part of the liturgy for the High Holidays, sung responsively before the open Torah Ark during the morning service from Rosh Hashanah until Yom Kippur. A Song of Ascents. One of the Dead Sea Scrolls (11QPsa) attributes 3600 tehilim (songs of praise) plus other compositions to David. Other Psalms in the 130s by David are: 131, 133 and 138—145. In my opinion, this looks very possibly to be a Davidic Psalm.
Psalm 130 is yesterday, today and tomorrow. Edward and I went to Austin in May 14th; We prayed for rain. As we sat on the hotel 5th floor veranda, a storm blew in. We waited to be blessed with rain. Instead, we watched rain form and felt the cool breezes and enjoyed seeing the lightning as the storm took a profound west. The horrible 100s didn't happen.
We went to Dallas two weekends ago to see family and old friends. We again arrived in the winds doing some blowing. The wind blew and we left. Rain began, We didn't get to see the rainstorm later that Sunday.
This week we went to Lunch and wouldn't sit on the porch because it was baking brains hot. Edward and I opted for a window instead. As we sat having lunch, it began to soak the people on the porch and no one frowned. The temperatures fell 20 plus degrees. The rain come down in sheets and poured. The rain came in sideways. And in sheets, not sideways. For a solid hour within 3 miles of our house. The rain was magnificent. We were so glad when we heard our neighborhood didn't get 1' hailstorms surrounding us. Sadly, our house had a mere sprinkle.
We do as Jesus suggested, to pray again and continue to have Hope for His
Word in our favor. We pray for our blessings.
Abba, Father,
Thank You, rain will come from the Gulf of Mexico to pour down on drought in our area.
The grass was so dead near busy roads and highways. The Pines have shown such stress. This seemed
so endless. And we are profoundly grateful.
We ask for the Yellowstone areas to have assistance
as they rebuild from highways flooding and collapsing.
Farms and homes flooded to the roof.
Grateful to hear of vacationing people
finding ways to help the area. Many didn't ask for refunds and others go and find ways to put
tourism and compassion in the area.
We ask Rain for New Mexico and Arizona, maybe the lower Gulf past Mexico
will provide rain for all the areas. Help this southern Gulf Tropical Depression be formed
with Mercy for the whole area.
Italy is experiencing profound drought.
We ask the Mediterranean to have a storm to give
relief to the Nations there.
We lift up the concerns of the Nation and
those near to our hearts. There are so many challenges,
we all have specific areas to reach our heart to Yours.
Dwell in us, Father.
Dwell in those we Love for their lives.
Help us to seek You First.
And we will finish well in Jesus Christ.
The will of God in Christ Jesus for us.
This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
In Jesus, a Hope and Future.
In His Mercy, Vast Goodness as Pandemics heal.
For health in all the Nations.
Blessings of Good News seen and unseen in coming weeks for
the prayers of the Nations and in
The Highest Name of Jesus,
Amen.
