Psalm 51
Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy
blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin!
3 For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight,
so that you may be justified in your words
and blameless in your judgment.
5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being,
and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Let me hear joy and gladness;
let the bones that you have broken rejoice.
9 Hide your face from my sins,
and blot out all my iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from your presence,
and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and uphold me with a willing spirit.
13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
and sinners will return to you.
14 Deliver me from blood guiltiness, O God,
O God of my salvation,
and my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness.
15 O Lord, open my lips,
and my mouth will declare your praise.
16 For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it;
you will not be pleased with a burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
18 Do good to Zion in your good pleasure;
build up the walls of Jerusalem;
19 then will you delight in right sacrifices,
in burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings;
then bulls will be offered on your altar.
Psalm 51 is the Psalm of admitting fault. Wanting more of God than bad behavior. And that's about NOW. I wondered what would please the Lord to obtain His favor for this generation, alive today and swamped with all things.
We are all hoping for more of God's favor. It's mid-June. We have floods, snow and sorrow for Yellowstone and their whole area. Airline flights cancelled. Warm temperatures too soon. Weird news. War. Weird news. Drought. Economy. All of it. We are in the anger of Post, hopefully Post, Pandemic. The news is all so odd, we just want God's Favor.
Our Prayers begin with, "Please, Father,"
When we find out we are getting a Sermon of Psalm 51, we all groan. Oh, please no. Psalm 51 is written for the tender care the Prophet Nathan took to explain to King David, David truly is seen. The approach is so tender, King David names one of his sons after Nathan. The Lord is merciful and honest.
And we root for David to come closer to The Lord. Come to Jesus, is wonderful. Let's have More.
Let's look at the language of the Psalm, we hope God will take away from us. Far away. Far away ~ ~ ~ those prayers we should love, admire, and, instead, roll past us. When we feel empty instead of full. The worthy that is too high for us. When we feel, secretly, we are the bull and should be offered on the altar. We hope to be far away.
We begin with lofty words: Transgressions, iniquity, sin. Evil. Judgment. Conceived in sin, our family has problems. Justified in Your Words, broken. Face Sin. Blood guiltiness.
Now. What do we all hope for today? Now? We would like us all to behave with living waters flowing from us and have glad hearts. And instead we point out the problems bringing us down, our culture, the attitudes of corruption people put in our face. The News that shocks. The people who condone. Jesus faced this every single day. This is not too tough. Not to worrisome. Not overwhelming to Jesus.
What is Jesus really bringing us in His Word of Psalm 51. Responsibility. An inner heart to the Lord. David is not bringing Jesse and Samuel to Jesus today. He is mentioning he feels hopeless to rise up in his past history.
Let's look at our part in helping the Pandemic become History. Bringing Trouble to become History.
I acknowledge I live for God's Mercy.
I abide because of His Steadfast Love.
I require God alone to blot out my iniquity.
God does not list a sin. He is listing attitudes. And we place our actions here.
Our attitudes, we have brought.
I believe God takes out the stain of the past.
God cleanses.
I believe in God and the White Robes of Eternal Life for Today.
The Person I hurt and would want to comfort is Jesus.
My Father in Heaven. My Comforter.
The Lord knows what evil is. And sees clearly.
You alone are Good, Father.
Your Words have Justice.
Your Judgment is Blameless.
You are Right, God.
We have the sadness of our past, even in good years.
We wonder at who our role model will be, to have Your Goodness, in these Days.
You delight when my heart offers you my real being.
You Delight as God.
Let me have Your Heart and secret wisdom.
Why? Hyssop is Beautiful.
To be clean is beautiful.
Whiter than Snow. Pure. In Jesus.
Broken will rejoice in Healing.
Gather my face to You. Hold me, dearly. We will snuggle as Loved Ones.
You Delight in Truth.
Blot out what has been wrong. So, Good may Shine Forever.
Let my Clean Heart bring us Joy, Abba.
My Right Spirit, You give, Draws Your Holy Spirit to me.
Your Holy Spirit with me to comfort me.
Restore Your Joy. Restore Salvation.
Uphold me to be a willing Spirit in Jesus.
Help me to teach Your Way, Truth and Life.
We will rejoice in Salvation with many.
Oh, God, of Salvation. Eternal.
My Tongue will Sing. Salvation!
Delight, be pleased with this new Spirit in You.
Your Kingdom... Your Pleasure.
Build the Walls of Heaven to be forever.
And God gave David favor and a path forward. Life, Way from Truth.
The things we will see -
with our eyes enlightened by Jesus Christ - in His Heavenly Kingdom
- we will laugh with delight for the times Jesus held our hand
- and enabled us to have Hope, Faith and Love.
We pray for the Lord's Good Mercy and Favor:
Abba, our Abba,
You are Daddy. You are filled with tender Love for us.
When You cover us in the Highest Name of Jesus, our prayers go amazingly far.

We with abundant and filled Thanks Bless You for Your Answers all our Life.
We pray not only for the people You have given us - but for the people we are hearing about in the news - in some very difficult troubles. Yellowstone, Drought,
Violence and want. We all want better days.
Please carry burdens for them. Help us to Help Others.
Thank You for Prayers and Help Given
to a Young Mother with her hands full.
We pray God's Love and Miracles.
We ask for Your miracles over these things under Your feet.
We fully and with Love, thank You, Your Plans are for a Hope and Future.
We ask for the fulfilling of Your Word bringing Good News.
Praying to see soon how all things work together for Good for those who Love the Lord God and work according to His Purpose.
Jesus be praised for His Mercy, Grace, Forgiveness, Wisdom and Joy. You are a God we can look to with Great Pleasure in Your Love and Goodness.
Thank You Jesus. Thank You Abba. Amen and Amen.
Jesus the Lord.
Love and Mercy
Fill us and surround us.
Amen Amen Amen
