Matthew 14:13-21 ~ Compassion

 

At the previous record-setting Mass, 2 million people turned out in 1979 at John Paul’s hometown of Krakow for his first visit to Poland after his elevation to the papacy. A Vatican spokesman said the church had planned for a crowd of 1 million. But shortly after dawn, officials raised the estimate to 2 million and later said as many as 5 million were trying to reach the site.

When we say 5,000 were fed

then

we have to consider

the Millenniums fed

by Jesus

from the Gospels

Matthew 14:13-21

Now when Jesus heard this, He withdrew from there in a boat to a desolate place by Himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed Him on foot from the towns.

When He went ashore He saw a great crowd, and He had compassion on them and healed their sick. 

Now when it was evening, the disciples came to Him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the day is now over; send the crowds away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves.”

But Jesus said, 

“They need not go away; you give them something to eat.” 

They said to Him, “We have only five loaves here and two fish.” 

And He said, “Bring them here to me.” 

Then He ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass, and taking the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven and said a blessing. 

Then He broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the broken pieces left over. And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Flavius Josephus, Antiquities of the Jews 3.224-3.236 found the High Holy days, the accounting of the animal sacrifices purchased, would equal 2 million pilgrims. The word used is multitude. Of the Book of Acts, who turned out to proclaim Jesus is alive.

The Gospels begin to tell All People.  903 Times. The Lord tells us He has arrived to save the world. ALL.

Matthew, the counter, the accountant, loves the word ALL. 96 Times. (Yes, the Matthew of his profession, accountant, likes abundance and ALL. (The Way, The Truth, The Life!)

We grasp the feeding of 5,000, even as children. And this is enormous compared to our lives. And yet, the enormity of God's Salvation to the Millenniums.  

Abba, Father,

In Your Holy Spirit 

we ask forgiveness for sins,

and Your help for forgiveness

and guidance
create and renew Real Joy and Giving Thanks

within us.

Help us to be the one who

gives thanks with meaningful purpose.

Victory is Certain in Christ Jesus The Lord.

And to gain strength

with hope and health!

Dwell in us, Father,

we ask in the Highest Name of Jesus.

Dwell, fully, in those we love

Help us to seek You 

first

and we will finish well 

in Jesus Christ.

We pray 

Peace

for Israel

and Your Good Creation.

Continued Healing

and all Good Health!

Thank You.

Our God is working. His Son, 

Jesus is working.
