Matthew 17:14-20
14 And when they came to the crowd, a man came up to him and, kneeling before Him, 15 said, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he has seizures and he suffers terribly. For often he falls into the fire, and often into the water. 16 And I brought him to your disciples, and they could not heal him.”
17 And Jesus answered,
“O faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you?
How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to Me.”
18 And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly.
19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”
20 He said to them,
“Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
Jesus handles this like always. Jesus Christ does all things well.
Luke 10:17-19
The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons
submit to us in Your name.”
18 So He told them,
“I saw Satan fall like lightning from Heaven.
19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread on snakes
and scorpions,
and over all the power of the enemy.
Nothing will harm you.”
We know Jesus dealt with this enemy all the time, Scripture tells us Jesus had no difficulty with this at all. This is one of the few events we have some background facts. Because Jesus was giving us a new earth with His New Covenant. And a New Heaven. Satan was leaving Sheol and Heaven was Created because of Jesus' New Covenant, His Blood, His Sacrifice, His Life. Our eternal salvation.
I've seen two exorcisms recorded by Clergy. One was porn. Books flew across the room without any reason. Another was worse and was an aged, old man. His wife said he engaged in child harm and child porn. The man grew very ill after the exorcism, and his wife said he had been near death for years.
What facts did the Scriptures withhold in Matthew 17? We do not know whether this was a toddler, a fifteen-year-old or a 20-year-old boy. And our next questions would likely be, what did he do, and how will we avoid this in our lives?
Jesus says blessed are the merciful, they will receive mercy. And Jesus blames the generation. Whoa, that's not pleasant. Jesus said the blind man was blind, not because of sin, but to allow the Glory of God to shine out. We know He was correct. Jesus, again in Matthew 17, said something similar to this:
Luke 13
13 There were some present at that very time who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And He answered them,
“Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered in this way? 3 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. 4 Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them: do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who lived in Jerusalem? 5 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”
Jesus refrains from Judgement of the afflicted. And tells us of the days of Jesus Christ living grace upon grace.
Jesus treats the failed attempts of the disciples to blend in with the generation. And the rest of their conversation is private and explained later to the Sheep of His Flock for millenniums. No lack of mercy is present. Mercy is abundant. Healing is abundant. No one cried about Jesus coming to visit with the father and boy! Hope in prayer soars abundantly. Fear is cast out. Perfect Love casts out fear. God Bless our Lord Jesus!
The Light shines and darkness did not come near to overcoming Jesus Christ, Only Son of God!
God takes what mankind finds of utmost unpleasantness and turns this to be Glory. We want more of Jesus. His Mercy. His Word. His Works. Yes, Holy Spirit, Yes. Help is asked for and more Help is given with abundance.

Luke 17:17-19
Then Jesus answered,
“Were not ten cleansed?
Where are the nine?
Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?”
And He said to him,
“Rise and go your way;
your faith has made you well.”
Help us to LIVE
each day
putting You first.
As the Name of Jesus covers us
