Ecclesiastes 1:1-7 ~ son of David, King in Jerusalem

Ecclesiastes 1:1-7

1 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, King in Jerusalem.

 2 Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! 

All is vanity. 

 3 What does man gain by all the toil at which he toils under the sun? 

 4 A generation goes, and a generation comes, 

 but the earth remains forever. 

 5 The sun rises, 

and the sun goes down, 

 and hastens to the place where it rises. 

 6 The wind blows to the south 

 and 

goes around to the north; 

around and around 

goes the wind, 

 and 

on its circuits the wind returns. 

 7 All streams run to the sea, 

 but the sea is not full; 

to the place where the streams flow, 

 there they flow again.

Solomon pleased God to ask for wisdom.  

And then set out down the road to please himself. Solomon is circular story as is Saul becoming Paul. Perhaps Soloman felt that his mother, Bathsheba, who was summoned to King David's death and they dealt formally and coldly with one another, was blasted loudly and scapegoated.  

Solomon had 700 weddings and made sure Bathsheba attended every single wedding. No one would want to do this. It was a double edged sword of unloving proportions. Here, MOTHER, Sit as the Queen Mother as your glorious son throws himself down the hill Father saw you from. It is Opera.  We are told in Scripture to treat others as we want to be treated and to honor parents. To live long. David and Solomon died well beyond the expected 20 to 30 years of the Bronze Age. But not like Abraham and Moses.  They both dies in their 50s. Tops 60s.

 And as this progressed, Solomon was on the hilltops away from the Glory of the Holy Spirit cloud in the Temple.  Solomon was making sacrifices to the idols and demanding the Presence of God. After all these wives and concubines, Solomon has 2 daughters and one son.

Ecclesiastes has lead to some people I know discussing reading Ecclesiastes leads to depression like a cloud rolling in. We know Solomon suffered from clinical depression.

Isaiah is almost like Bungie Jumping. Or the Opera of the Barber of Seville. 

Why do the Scriptures have the changes, not referring to the Peace that Passes All Understanding. Scripture has all the turns and twists life can provide. And yet, I have met people who have a prophesy of their death and they greet the news as if God had sent them an engraved invitation to a grand wedding or ... Paradise.

It is a miracle of accepting God's Plan.

We are to understand in Isaiah as we do the plan of God, not to fool ourselves we save ourselves.  Isaiah saw the Messiah and just as clearly saw we lead down paths of false goodness leading to doom. The spiked path we have spiked ourselves. Leading to our double tongue, double mind and fears.  Death instead of Glory.

Just as the truly happy and content person, sees trouble as passing by and "the comment" unnecessary to deem important or to strike up true anger. Solomon could have bypassed what ever goaded him in his parental situation. Could have stayed in the Glory of the Cloud showing God's Presence in the Temple. 

Psalm 19 sees what Solomon sees and has an entirely more joyous approach.

Psalm 19:1-5

~ God's Word Translation

For the choir director; a psalm by David.

1 The Heavens declare the Glory of God,

and 

the sky displays what His Hands have made.

2 One day tells a story to the next.

One night shares knowledge with the next

3 without talking,

without words,

without their voices being heard.

4 Yet, their sound has gone out into the entire world,

their message to the ends of the earth.

He has set up a tent in the Heavens for the sun,

5 which comes out of its chamber like a bridegroom.

Like a champion, it is eager to run its course.

Gratitude. If Solomon had felt Gratitude, perhaps he wouldn't have spent years adding more and more.  Solomon left the Temple, because the Word of God didn't fit in with his days he filled. 

Look at the Blessing of God.  One of the most well known Blessings.

Micah 6

     Hear what the Lord says:

Arise, plead your case before the mountains,

    and let the hills hear your voice.

2 Hear, you mountains, the indictment of the Lord,

    and you enduring foundations of the earth,

for the Lord has an indictment against his people,

    and he will contend with Israel.

3 “O my people, what have I done to you?

    How have I wearied you? Answer me!

4 For I brought you up from the land of Egypt

    and redeemed you from the house of slavery,

and I sent before you Moses,

    Aaron, and Miriam.

5 O my people, remember what Balak king of Moab devised,

    and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him,

and what happened from Shittim to Gilgal,

    that you may know 

The Righteous Acts of the Lord.”

What Does the Lord Require?

6 “With what shall I come before the Lord,

    and bow myself before God on high?

Shall I come before him with burnt offerings,

    with calves a year old?

7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams,

    with ten thousands of rivers of oil?

Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression,

    the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”

8 He has told you, O man, 

what is good;

    and 

what does the Lord require of you

but to do justice, 

and 

to love kindness,

    and 

to walk humbly with your God?

9 The voice of the Lord cries to the city—

    and it is sound wisdom to fear your name:

“Hear of the rod and of him who appointed it!

10     Can I forget any longer the treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked,

    and the scant measure that is accursed?

11 Shall I acquit the man with wicked scales

    and with a bag of deceitful weights?

12 Your rich men are full of violence;

    your inhabitants speak lies,

    and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

13 Therefore I strike you with a grievous blow,

    making you desolate because of your sins.

14 You shall eat, but not be satisfied,

    and there shall be hunger within you;

you shall put away, but not preserve,

    and what you preserve I will give to the sword.

15 You shall sow, but not reap;

    you shall tread olives, but not anoint yourselves with oil;

    you shall tread grapes, but not drink wine.

16 For you have kept the statutes of Omri,

    and all the works of the house of Ahab;

    and you have walked in their counsels,

that I may make you a desolation, and your inhabitants a hissing;

    so you shall bear the scorn of my people.”

Even today we can see the Cultural Significance of these un wise decisions.

This is like the Great Wall of China. 

Solomon. Bears the scorn of His people? Solomon is the Biblical story of starving at a God Sized Feast.  Giving away the gifts God has given. While "You Look GOOOOOD!" On Social Media.

The Scorn. Lord God Almighty, that was God Sized Too.  

You're traveling through another dimension -- a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's a signpost up ahead: your next stop: the Twilight Zone.

You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension: a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into... the Twilight Zone. 

Imagination. What 700 wives and 300 concubines feel about being taken from homes and put into a dormitory.  No real husband. One son and two daughters for the whole group. That is the Twilight Zone. The amount of scorn and negative emotions is enough to choke the childbirth of that many. 

Solomon took that Wisdom and became a busy man surrounded by intense dislike. It is no wonder his son, the one with Abraham's Blessing and God's Covenant with David became a colossal fool. Ending the Promises of God. Not quite! The ember is eternal, millenniums later. 

 

The New Testament is more about focusing 

on 

the Miracles 

and Works

 in the Exact Nature of God.

All streams run to the sea, 

 but the sea is not full; 

to the place where the streams flow, 

 there they flow again.

Jesus Christ Himself defines the Holy Spirit. Help, Helper. Comfort, Comforter. Knowing we are His People, the sheep of His Pasture. It is He Who has made us and not we ourselves. The Lord Jesus said have faith. But He is indicating have Faith in the Ancient of Days. The Lord God Almighty. Maker of all people and all things. 

John 10:9 

I am the door. 

If anyone enters by Me, 

he will be saved 

and will go in and out and 

find pasture.

May the glory of the LORD 

endure forever;
may the LORD rejoice in His works

Who looks on the earth and it trembles,

who touches the mountains and they smoke!

I will sing to the LORD 

as long as I live;

I will sing praise to my God while I have being.

May my meditation be pleasing to Him, for I rejoice in the LORD.
Let sinners be consumed from the earth, 

and let the wicked be no more!

Bless the LORD, O my soul! 

Praise the LORD!

Abba, Father,

Live in our hearts

Help us honor Christ the Lord as holy

Because of the Tender Love 

of the Most High

we will not cease to pray for our Loved ones,

for the people

 You have given us,

Pray with hope!

Ending

Bad weather experienced

be good weather again.

and God of all comfort.

Abba,

We pray the impossible 

more Heaven 

on earth 

We can do absolutely nothing about Massachusetts killing babies.  Shake our heads at the horror of babies murdered. We can moan and cry and do absolutely nothing. And those babies will die badly.

Life for preborn children. Human Beings. Babies. 

The end of Abortion.

and the price of giving

birth

is and frequently 

and outrageously

and

unpatriotically

is

$50,000.

We pray

about

all

of these

valid 

true

concerns.

If our Saint Nicholas 

buys 3 women out of being trafficked. 

We can certainly 

ask 

the mother to accept payment 

for bringing

God's Gift of Life 

into the world. 

Thy Kingdom come

Thy will be done

on earth

as it is

in Heaven. 

God our Creator, 

help everyone to share 

in the good gifts 

You have given to us. 

 Lord, in your mercy, 

hear our prayer.

Jesus help us in this Nation to be in Your Word and see more Joy.
