Isaiah 61
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.
4 They will rebuild the ancient ruins
and restore the places long devastated;
they will renew the ruined cities
that have been devastated for generations.
5 Strangers will shepherd your flocks;
foreigners will work your fields and vineyards.
6 And you will be called priests of the Lord,
you will be named ministers of our God.
You will feed on the wealth of nations,
and in their riches you will boast.
7 Instead of your shame
you will receive a double portion,
and instead of disgrace
you will rejoice in your inheritance.
And so you will inherit a double portion in your land,
and everlasting joy will be yours.
8 “For I, the Lord, love justice;
I hate robbery and wrongdoing.
In my faithfulness I will reward my people
and make an everlasting covenant with them.
9 Their descendants will be known among the nations
and their offspring among the peoples.
All who see them will acknowledge
that they are a people the Lord has blessed.”
10 I delight greatly in the Lord;
my soul rejoices in my God.
For he has clothed me with garments of salvation
and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness
as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
11 For as the soil makes the sprout come up
and a garden causes seeds to grow,
so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness
and praise spring up before all nations.
John 20:29
Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
We Love to see Father God's Plan of the Good News of Jesus Christ stretching back Millenniums. Yet the Scripture is Living and Active. The Oaks of Righteousness? Surely we all know the display of the Light of the world we have today - is something Father God knew well before we could even say "Light."
Meaningful Christmases past. And some of our most vivid memories - Grandparents departed to Heavenly Home leaving memories of goodness and love. And Church Services. Where peace and contentment catch up with our eternal beings to create contact with God.
Don't miss out on Church. This Season has a Lot of Hope. We Expect Jesus and realize there are miles to go. Faith, Hope and Love. Let the Love Father God has for you fill your heart.
Mary, chosen Mother of Jesus - was told this would be a difficult path to walk. And Mary is not known to be in fear. Mary was known to walk with her beloved Child, husband, sons and daughters as well as Mary's own sister. How did Mary do this? Mary believed God. Enabling her to go 80 miles on a donkey and have strangers come to the manger. Mary lived faith. Mary believed God. Mary saw the attention of God as Good News.
Isaiah knew of Jesus 700 years before Jesus was born. God knows what Good News God has for our lives. And in faith - we leave old concerns behind and begin - a New Christmas, a New 2018.
When I was born, the median age in my family was probably 77 years old. And now would probably be 30 years of age. And in the years to come - we will have more generations. Christmases yet to have arrived. God knew us - millenniums ago. We are His Beloved Children. Oh - if we consider the Good God has planned for us. The Good News of God does not just sustain us in times of trouble. The Good News of God does not just bring our Joy to Eternity. The Good News of God - enables us like Zechariah, Elizabeth, Mary and Joseph - to see the times to come - with the Joy of Expectation of the Goodness of God. Meeting the challenges of Life.
Nehemiah 8:10
10 Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Abba, Abba, Abba,
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.
GOD is Just this good. We live past trauma. We are blessed. We live to see the reality of the Scriptures and in this we know He brought us this far.
To Love Jesus is to know the Holy Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness. . Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. We believe in Jesus and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory.
To know the Glory and Love of God is to see the miracles of Jesus Love. Your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
God fill us all, especially those we love with renewed hope for years ahead filled with love.
We ask in the name of Jesus Christ. Knowing the prayers of the faithful circle God's Creation He calls Good.
Amen.
