Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Jesus Christ is still at work today.
Isaiah 35:6
For waters break forth in the wilderness,
and streams in the desert
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Jesus Christ is still at work today.
Isaiah 35:6
For waters break forth in the wilderness,
and streams in the desert
Psalm 18:1-20
I love you, O Lord, my strength.
2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
3 I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised,
and I am saved from my enemies.
4 The cords of death encompassed me;
the torrents of destruction assailed me;
5 the cords of Sheol entangled me;
the snares of death confronted me.
6 In my distress I called upon the Lord;
to my God I cried for help.
From his temple he heard my voice,
and my cry to him reached his ears.
7 Then the earth reeled and rocked;
the foundations also of the mountains trembled
and quaked, because he was angry.
8 Smoke went up from his nostrils,
and devouring fire from his mouth;
glowing coals flamed forth from him.
9 He bowed the heavens and came down;
thick darkness was under his feet.
10 He rode on a cherub and flew;
he came swiftly on the wings of the wind.
11 He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him,
thick clouds dark with water.
12 Out of the brightness before him
hailstones and coals of fire broke through his clouds.
13 The Lord also thundered in the heavens,
and the Most High uttered his voice,
hailstones and coals of fire.
14 And he sent out his arrows and scattered them;
he flashed forth lightnings and routed them.
15 Then the channels of the sea were seen,
and the foundations of the world were laid bare
at your rebuke, O Lord,
at the blast of the breath of your nostrils.
16 He sent from on high, he took me;
he drew me out of many waters.
17 He rescued me from my strong enemy
and from those who hated me,
for they were too mighty for me.
18 They confronted me in the day of my calamity,
but the Lord was my support.
19 He brought me out into a broad place;
He rescued me, because he delighted in me.
20 The Lord dealt with me according to my righteousness;
according to the cleanness of my hands he rewarded me.
When we look at the Genealogies of Jesus, we wonder the stories we would learn. What was the life of Jesus was growing in Egypt and Nazareth.
My Grandmother was born in 1898, she and the children of her family - 6 boys and 6 girls - would ride in 2 covered wagons and go see their Grandmother. I told this one day to Maxine, my first cousin once removed. I was 23 and she was 70 years old. I said hard to believe Grandmother saw the walk on the moon. Maxine told me she was born in Melissa's house in 1916. I was astonished and said I have a picture of the house, the tin roof and the front porch and the incredibly Amazing Live Oak Tree. Maxine told me the house was still standing. And being born in January, she was born in a very cold snap in the Louisiana house. Maxine said I bet no one has told you an exact quote of your Great-Great-Grandmother Melissa. I said indeed not. Maxine said I just adored my Great-Grandmother and your Great-Great-Grandmother. We were close all our lives. Great-Great-Grandmother Melissa said I was a beautiful baby and she hoped to get me dressed as soon as possible so I didn't just freeze over in that cold, cold January. And getting me dressed in clothes waiting for the tiny baby girl was life coming into the house.
Wouldn't we all want to hear beautiful things Ephesians 3 tells us of Heaven and earth families live in Heaven.
God could have chosen May. June. April. God looked at the fullness of His earth and chose for Jesus to arrive when the world is at rest. Bethlehem (below) really does have snow.
God enriched us.
Ephesians 3 says families live in Heaven and on earth. Father God has told us Jesus lived before Abraham. Father God let Jesus live among us as Grace upon Grace. Gifting us with Jesus. How many of us would wish our child to depart fo 33 or 34 years?
How would you react to the news your child was going on a voyage of 33 or 34 years? Would we flash forth lightning?
David writes easily of enemies. Sometimes our enemies are just our own attitudes and fog. Winston Churchill said enemies are a badge of honor. We have stood for something.
Our God has let Jesus become part of the Fullness of His Creation. Would the top video be what God felt like on the First Christmas morning?
This seems like an off the wall idea. The Scriptures are Real.
Our God delights, warms, is enthralled with faith. Rejoices in Hope for the father bringing his son to Jesus after the Transfiguration. God sorrows for the Children of Israel in the Exodus.
God is known to repent of His anger when speaking of His anger. Any Father has anger sometimes. David always trusted in the overflowing Mercy of God.
The Overflowing Mercy of God.
The Parable of the servants with talents. The Servant with the most talents believed the Master was kind. He believed his master to be Just. Jesus fully knows we despair of the Goodness of God. Jesus, His Exact Nature, says impudently pray at the last hour. For what you need. Jesus says even an evil Judge can change His Mind. Jesus is saying God is fully able to bear the honest opinion of the hearts He sees revealed. God did not smite us for any opinion brought to God with our thoughts and prayers.
Several years back, I went to hear a healer pray over us. Father Mike Endicott is from the U.K. and he spoke of earnestly begging God for his flock, for 35 years, to have a crumb of God's glory on pretty common and pretty severe situations in life. Begging God to relent of crushing problems. And, one cold night, Father Mike had a vision of Light spilling through the stained glass window. And the Voice of Father of All. And He said, "Mike, do you feed my sheep?" Yes, Lord God, I try. "Yes, you do." And His Voice continued, "Mike, do you believe that I am a Good Father?" The priest replied with more automation than conviction and said, with a touch of earnestness, he did believe God was a Good Father.
Father God said to Mike, "Then Pray believing I have a Plan and a Hope and Future for all of My Children." And Father Mike became a healer because Miracles began to happen left and right. To believe God is a Good and Willing Father. To believe in the Willingness of a Good Father. And still, yesterday, today and tomorrow only Jesus Christ Heals all.
Psalm 18 assures us. Jesus delights in me. Jesus delights in you.
Abba,
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God.
All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.
In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
We Thank You for Jesus. His Light Shines and daily mercies renew and we see Him.
The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him.
The Beauty of the earth and the fullness thereof - we find glimpses of Heaven. Thank You for the blessings of this day. This life.
To all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
We are the Beloved of God. Eternity is ours.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
Let the Name of Jesus cover me. God is Love. Let the Name of Jesus cover those I love to Live in His Light. Let the Glory of Jesus Christ and His Name cover this Nation and the Nations coming to His Brightness. And in this Hope see the unborn generation be filled with the fullness of God.
In Jesus Christ. Amen.
