After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Aramaic called Bethesda, which has five roofed colonnades.
3 In these lay a multitude of invalids—blind, lame, and paralyzed. 5 One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?”
7 The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.”
8 Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” 9 And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked.
Now that day was the Sabbath.
10 So the Jews said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath, and it is not lawful for you to take up your bed.”
11 But he answered them, “The man who healed me, that man said to me, ‘Take up your bed, and walk.’”
12 They asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?” 13 Now the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, as there was a crowd in the place.
14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “See, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing worse may happen to you.”
15 The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him. 16 And this was why the Jews were persecuting Jesus because he was doing these things on the Sabbath.
17 But Jesus answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I am working.”
Luke 14
Explains to us, Jesus was always teaching. Always explaining. The Scriptures tuck in. There is a Feast. Abundant Life. Find the Feast.
We are told the non-essential information — Jesus is in Jerusalem for a Feast. Why is the Bible telling us why Jesus is in Jerusalem for a Feast? We are to picture what draws Jesus. Where He is. Jesus heads to the Pool of Bethesda. Jesus is not John the Baptist. Jesus isn't in the wilderness. Jesus is Front and Center.
The Feast
Jesus has drawn entire villages and towns since the first day of His Ministry. We see Jesus when we look all around Him. Jesus, we find out, is so Joy filled — people call Him a Drunk and a Glutton. And we begin John's Chapter 5 finding out, if you have a feast — Jesus is “There”! Jesus says so many times Life is Joy. Jesus is not dour. Jesus is easy. Jesus believes God will work Wonders.
Jesus is Alive
Jesus has been alive before Abraham. He has an idea of His Father's Works. Jesus calls this “Going On.”
God of Wonders beyond our Galaxy
Jesus gave us the Parable about the Virgins waiting at a Wedding Party. Jesus wasn't talking about a career in works, Jesus was saying they were aware. If all the other Virgins jump off the bridge, are you going to? Not! Not if you have The Light. Works aren't work to God. Works are Wonders and Life. John reports seeing Jesus 60 years later in Heaven and is in Astonishment at the open Wonders of His Kingdom. We say works, God might say Wonders.
Jesus and John 5.
Jesus is telling us about dealing with the Goy of the world. The non-Jews. Us!
One of Those
The people who aren't looking for Jesus, and we still classify them as 'Good' people. The people who read the Bible and connect, yet are still looking to find out who Jesus is. Jesus says He will sit with them. Us! Jesus says God doesn't judge them and the Good News is Jesus is going to Judge. Jesus spends all John's Gospel Chapter 5 telling us about being Saved. Jesus is pretty interesting. Jesus is having, “One Of Those Conversations.” We have these today. What about this group? And that group.
See
Today we have peace in the Middle East emerging. Are we really looking at this?
Want, Learn and Live Peace
How will we have Peace if we refuse to see what brought Peace? How will we progress into Peace if we don't learn what brought Peace? Are we really ready to bypass looking at Historic Peace??? Do our thoughts revolve around the media, or are we going to decide where we focus.
Jesus focuses us in unusual directions in the Word of God to get us to “See Jesus.”
Where is Jesus next?
Right! Jesus wants us to be looking at Jesus, so we focus on the Next part Jesus is bringing, “us”.
John the Baptist calls everyone out to the wilderness to make the paths straight. Jesus is there. Jesus spends time there. Jesus is...
Jesus is, look at the top center. The Top. Jesus is at the “Sheep Gate.”
Right, Jesus is at the Top.
Jesus spoke of Generations.
We are the Generation with an Aerial View.
New.
All of John's Gospel Chapter 5 is talking about Judging. We always picture Jesus as a sort of Hippie. And in this Gospel, Jesus is having a Feast, a Party and casually all over the Pool of Bethesda. Jesus is Living Water. Jesus goes exactly where He is needed.
God could have browbeaten us into Pharaoh's ranks. Have His Opinion. Instead, Jesus is saying if you are healed in the wilderness in God. You are Free. If you are healed in the Grand Temple in the Grand Cleansing Waters, you are free. Jesus never browbeat an agenda. He didn't find it helpful for Heaven. Jesus isn't The Great Santini. Jesus is God. Jesus didn't sit people down and tell them, 'ya gotta change.' Jesus did say, to a few people, to sin no more. Jesus was Comfort as He said this.
Jesus was for Love opening Hearts. This wholeChapter of John 5 isn't a swift read. Isn't quoted tremendously and catchy. Is obscure in portions, to sit and dwell. Jesus felt we should have avenues open to us.
Join the Feast. Find Jesus. What will Jesus do next?

Email registry at bottom.! “All Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). Men “moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God” (2 Peter 1:21). The Holy Spirit carried men along, moving and guiding them as they wrote in their own words what God wanted them to say.
The Bible is unique; comprised of 80 separate books, & written over a period of thousands of years by more than 40 writers with one Author, spanning the centuries, different states of peace & war & different situations in life. The Bible answers the question: of who is God, who is man & what can their relationship can be. Although the Bible was written on perishable material and copied by hand for many centuries, its accuracy is not in doubt, proven by Dead Sea Scrolls and papyrus from 2,000 years. The Bible has survived persecution & criticism to be read with great interest in each generation.
The Bible gives witness to the greatness of the Creator. A loving Father concerned for all of his creation. With each verse of the bible witnessing to God is love and the multitude & vastness of His attributes. The Bible was written for you. <><
