Sheol was part of the Old Testament, the Kingdom of the Dead.
Not ever again mentioned after the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Leviticus gives us a Glimpse of the Places God will go for us. Places we would not want to have in our Lives. Jesus is the Way, Truth and Life. Because Good Friday happened. God deals with what we want, far from us. Mighty God.
Sheol is probably more like earth, than Heaven
Sheol is not going to look like Hades,
the Scene from the movie, "Percy Jackson, Lightning Thief."
Hades looks like Hell.
There is no possible way the Light of Jesus is dampened out by Sheol. The Light of Christ is eternal and pure - yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Isaiah 29:15
Woe to those who go to great depths to hide their plans from the LORD,
who do their work in darkness and think, "Who sees us? Who will know?"
The Word of God shows advancement and decline in the History of mankind.
The Kingdom of God only advances!!! Good News.
Psalm 139:12
Even the darkness is not dark to You,
but the night shines like the day,
for darkness is as light to You.
Isaiah 2:5
Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the LORD.
Daniel 2:22
He reveals the deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness,
and light dwells with Him.
Job 2:1-13
Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the Lord. 2 And the Lord said to Satan, “From where have you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.” 3 And the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil? He still holds fast his integrity, although you incited me against him to destroy him without reason.” 4 Then Satan answered the Lord and said, “Skin for skin! All that a man has he will give for his life. 5 But stretch out your hand and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse you to your face.” 6 And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your hand; only spare his life.”
7 So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and struck Job with loathsome sores from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head. 8 And he took a piece of broken pottery with which to scrape himself while he sat in the ashes.
9 Then his wife said to him, “Do you still hold fast your integrity? Curse God and die.” 10 But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women would speak. Shall we receive good from God, and shall we not receive evil?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
11 Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that had come upon him, they came each from his own place, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite. They made an appointment together to come to show him sympathy and comfort him. 12 And when they saw him from a distance, they did not recognize him. And they raised their voices and wept, and they tore their robes and sprinkled dust on their heads toward heaven. 13 And they sat with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his suffering was very great.
When we read Scripture and the Words don't reconcile with each other. We eventually find out the Plan of our Father.
Isaiah 43:18
Do not call to mind the former things; pay no attention to the things of old.
Revelation continues the idea when the past is really part of history to dust and memories.
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Isaiah 46:9
Remember what happened long ago, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me.
God does not dismiss our personal and world history. God has us remember what we have learned.
Matthew 5:18
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.
The day of history has not occurred yet.
Luke 10:17-20
17 The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name!”
18 And he said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. 20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
Jesus has created a New Heaven. Given women standing. Gave the ill new life.
The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand:
Isaiah 11:1-10
11 There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse,
and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.
2 And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him,
the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and might,
the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
3 And his delight shall be in the fear of the Lord.
He shall not judge by what his eyes see,
or decide disputes by what his ears hear,
4 but with righteousness he shall judge the poor,
and decide with equity for the meek of the earth;
and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth,
and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked.
5 Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist,
and faithfulness the belt of his loins.
6 The wolf shall dwell with the lamb,
and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat,
and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together;
and a little child shall lead them.
7 The cow and the bear shall graze;
their young shall lie down together;
and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
8 The nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra,
and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder's den.
9 They shall not hurt or destroy
in all my holy mountain;
for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord
as the waters cover the sea.
10 In that day the root of Jesse, who shall stand as a signal for the peoples—of him shall the nations inquire,
and his resting place shall be glorious.
Job 2. People tend to just rocket past Job Chapter 2. None of the valor is discussed. Critics say God is not Love if He ever sat with Satan. And God is thrown under the bus.
Revelation tells us before we realize we are Eternal in Jesus Christ, we are Job Chapter 2. Holding up by determination and idealism. Not allowing God to hold us up. We face how we will do in Prodigal Son situations. Boredom and frustration. Repeating our lives develops us to be one who Loves Jesus or one who can hold on for some time.
The difference in having the New Covenant and the Glory of God.
Revelation 21
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.
4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore,
for the former things have passed away.”
5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
We see glimpses of the Development Jesus Christ brings our Father's Kingdom. Paul writes about the Layers of Heaven. We look at what God says and we see The Light.
