Psalm 100
For giving thanks.
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
Know that the Lord, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.
Not exactly Antoine de Saint-Exupery, however ... Give Us the Day!

Cause in this life
Things are much harder than in the afterworld
In this life,
You're on your own
And if the elevator tries to bring you down
Go crazy (Punch a higher floor! )
Woo!
If you don't like
The world you're living in
Take a look around
At least you got friends
You see I called my old lady
For a friendly word
She picked up the phone
Dropped it on the floor
(Ah-s ah-s) is all I heard
Are we gonna let the elevator bring us down?
Oh, no lets go!
Let's go crazy
Let's get nuts
Let's look for the purple banana
Until they put us in the truck, let's go!
We're all excited
But we don't know why
Maybe it's cause
We're all gonna die
And when we do (When we do)
What's it all for (What's it all for)
You better live now
Before the grim reaper come knocking on your door
Tell me, are we gonna let the elevator bring us down?
Oh, no let's go!
Let's go crazy
Let's get nuts
Look for the purple banana
Until they put us in the truck, let's go!
C'mon baby
Let's get nuts!
Yeah
(Crazy)
Let's go crazy!
Are we gonna let the elevator bring us down?
Oh, no let's go!
Go (Go crazy)
I said let's go crazy (go crazy)
Let's go (Let's go! )
Go (Let's go! )
Dr. Everything'll-Be-Alright
Will make everything go wrong
Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill
Hang tough children
He's comin'
He's comin'
Comin'
Take me away!

Post Pandemic is let's go crazy.
Historically crazy, nuts and purple bananas. Fewer friendly words for us all.
So, instead, let's celebrate and bless God.
Texas weathermen have been comforting us, showing us the Radar and Red Historic Drought of 2011 in early July, saying, "THAT was so much worse." Well, we drove Dallas to Houston 3 weeks ago and the grasses amazed us, being so very green. Astonishing.
During this last 3 weeks, we didn't see a lot of weatherman comforting. Aerial photos weren't green now.
This last week, we went up to celebrate as family, and the Texas highway grass was now incredibly beyond Texas summer toasty beige brown, and had gone to ghostly white. Traveled past the remains of 4 grass to forest to range fires. All attended to, incredibly promptly, extinguished. And the people we saw in Dallas all spoke animatedly discussing the weather and how the grass looks surrounding them and their property.
Around Houston, I am delighted to live in the American Great Pine Forest, stretching from East Texas to the Florida Atlantic. One of the reasons is, "Tough times, tough pines." Our area saw the pines, in June, begin to really stress and die.
A lot of this:
And if you were lucky, surrounding you this:
Some busy roads around town, I brace myself and say, "This is just the bad part of the drought, it must be elevated or traffic windy."
As usual today, we had the clearest blue skies and white generous clouds with dark, flat rain, usually passing us by since May - usually. Promises and promises and, poof, gone past. Drought. The kind of weather that follows Pandemics.
If we don't celebrate past answered prayers,
we won't have shared the fullness of our lives and conversations with The Lord.
August of 2016, my mother began her 4 months of Pneumonia and recovery in Hospitals and Rehabs. It was blazing hot and her Hospital Room was blazing from 4 acres of concrete parking lots reflecting cars. I went to the Presbyterian Hospital Chapel in Dallas and I began to Pray. I could feel the Holy Spirit giving me shimmers of His Holiness. Richly felt God surrounding us and not forsaking us. An amazing feeling of losing my parent, my last parent, the hopes of Hospital prayers and the oppressive heat with unrelenting fry summer. I told Abba, I thought of Jesus and His mercy and desire to heal. The willingness of God's Overwhelming Goodness. I thought of this and felt Him with me. I said, to Abba, Father, I am so depressed and I don't know how I will accomplish Mother's return home and if her passing happens. I just don't feel the strength in me. I would have so much comfort if you would simply let August not be our typical August and we could have some steadfast rain.
And August rained so much, when we traveled up and down the Interstate, I had to sometimes smile and sometimes laugh. It was incredibly GREEN.
We had so much rain in August 2016, then 2017 August was rainy too. Astonishing. You can read about this in old Blog Posts of ours. 2021 was easy.
What was interesting this Year?
Mid-July, the tough Texas pines were throwing off the horrible and large dead needles. And
Recover like the American Stock market trying.
Signs of optimism in the middle of historic inflation. Stagnation.
Hope during supply chain crisis.
This crisis and that crisis, making the news a runaway event. At first, I drove with Edward just mesmerized gazing at the dead, now hopeful trees. I felt glee and pride in Tough Texas Pines in the Great American Pine Forest.
And then, the weather and the reports got worse. And worse. Last week Rain! I was doing yard work and had to go inside. And then more reports of no future rain. Even yesterday, no signs of overly warm Gulf Water to provide a lovely (no) hurricane. Water seems still on the iffy side, but no real Hurricane. Or Tropical Storm. That didn't make the news, the water is holding ok in temperature in the Gulf. No picnic, but no DISASTER.
And Then. TODAY. In the Middle of No Hope Seen in any Reports....
On you will go
though the weather be foul.
On you will go
though your enemies prowl.
On you will go
though the Hakken-Kraks howl.
Onward up many
a frightening creek,
though your arms may get sore
and your sneakers may leak
“And when you're alone there's a very good chance
you'll meet things that scare you right out of your pants
There are some, down the road between hither and yon,
that can scare you so much you won't want to go on.”
“When you're in a Slump,
you're not in for much fun.
Un-slumping yourself
is not easily done.”
Dr. Seuss, who is merely part of his era
and we need history to show us the Good, Bad and Ugly
THANK YOU GOD
