And find the places they wanted to go, arrived, weren't exactly sterling and comfy.
Luke 12:29-31
"Do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink,
and do not keep worrying.
For all these things
the nations of the world eagerly seek;
and
your Father knows that you need these things.
But seek His kingdom, and these things
will be added to you."
In the small things in life. The tenderness. A lamp is mended. A fan is repaired. Small acts of kindness, giving the heart a chance to be grateful. A son returns home. A wash basin is restored.
The Language of Love.
Reconciliation is great, but living together, working together, serving each other. This involves interesting dynamics!
Reconciliation is great, but living together, working together, serving each other. This involves interesting dynamics!
Every one of us knows from experience, being reconciled is not the same as living together in relationship. The dynamics of relationship together takes ongoing work. Commitment to relationship, habits of healthy and fair communication, and especially keeping the relationship clean. A terrible marriage, resolving 5 years of hard work, has an impeccable historic victory in reconciliation. I will be your loyal friend and you do the same.
All of us know that in living together, working together, little things can irritate, habits unintentionally offend, communication in the negotiation of life can become harsh and undisciplined to find the shut-you-up dog path of get-on-with-life and stop being the spoil sport.
And we end up regretting what we are saying, and the relationship becomes defiled. Soiled by selfishness or terrible habits.
Now this happens when people are compatible, the personalities fit well together. Just imagine the dynamics when sinful people try to get alone with a holy God who is a consuming fire. The wash basin, which was the next piece of furniture after the bronze altar of sacrifice, had to do with the dynamics of keeping the relationship with God clean.
Exodus 30
17 Then the Lord said to Moses, 18 “Make a bronze basin, with its bronze stand, for washing. Place it between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and put water in it. 19 Aaron and his sons are to wash their hands and feet with water from it. 20 Whenever they enter the Tent of Meeting, they shall wash with water so that they will not die.
Also, when they approach the altar to minister by presenting an offering made to the Lord by fire, 21 they shall wash their hands and feet so that they will not die. This is to be a lasting ordinance for Aaron and his descendants for the generations to come.”
How will we sweep away what clutters us?
Jesus knew His disciples had come to a time of decision. Some wanted seats in Heaven. They had almost all left upon finding, Jesus wanted them to eat His Body and Blood.
The things God asks of people are difficult. Only faith in God gets us by. Humans change, fade and wither. God wants us to develop our skill to see further than the immediate journey.
John 9:4
"We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work."
Jesus said, "Give us the Day!" Jesus probably didn't monotone talk about one more day in a bored fashion. Jesus, The Christ of God, looked for Joy and Life and Love.
Ecclesiastes 9:10
"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might."
Paul explained this. Peter spoke of this.
John 13:9
“Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!
Isaiah said "Send me!"
Psalm 107
Some went down to the sea in ships,
doing business on the great waters;
24 they saw the deeds of the Lord,
his wondrous works in the deep.
25 For he commanded and raised the stormy wind,
which lifted up the waves of the sea.
26 They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths;
their courage melted away in their evil plight;
27 they reeled and staggered like drunken men
and were at their wits' end.
28 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
29 He made the storm be still,
and the waves of the sea were hushed.
30 Then they were glad that the waters were quiet,
and he brought them to their desired haven.
31 Let them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
Matthew 7:25
The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
Matthew 8:26
He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
Acts 2:2
Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
John 6:68
Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life."
Matthew 8:27
The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey Him!”
The waves at Nazare, Portugal, were 73 and 78 feet high.
Now, consider, how Jesus yesterday, today and tomorrow would walk on waves. Not surfing, but knowing how surfing is done.
Jesus is Living Water. The Mystery is great. Still startling.
Hebrews 1:3
He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, and He upholds the universe by the Word of His Power.
Matthew 28:20
Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you:
and, lo, I am with you always,
even unto the end of the world.
Amen.
For millenniums, people have looked, prayed, trusted God with His guidance. Including the ancestry of Jesus.
Ruth 1:16-17
And Ruth said, Entreat me not to leave thee,
or to return from following after thee:
for whither thou goest, I will go;
and
where thou lodgest, I will lodge:
thy people shall be my people,
and thy God my God:
Where thou diest, will I die,
and there will I be buried
the LORD do so to me, and more also,
if ought but death part thee and me.
Abba, Father,
Psalm 139
O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.
You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
You hem me in, behind and before,
and lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high; I cannot attain it.
Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me.
If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
and the light about me be night,”
even the darkness is not dark to you;
the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with you.
For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
How vast is the sum of them!
If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
I awake, and I am still with you.
Dwell in us, Father,
Dwell in those we love.
Help us to Seek You First.
And in Jesus Christ, we will finish well.
You have the whole world in Your Hand.
You, Father, uphold the universe
by the Word of Your Power.
And we are saved in Jesus Christ.
Forever
and ever.
Alleluia,
Allllll e Lu iaaaaaa
