Luke 11:28
He said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the Word of God
and keep it!”
My Grandmother Anita's adopted son, my Uncle Jimmy was in his 70s, when he heard in his soul, his life was given a purpose by Jesus Christ. Until then, Jimmy really disliked Christians and Church women. Jimmy probably had Fragile X Syndrome and felt judged by so many. A lot of life was beyond Jimmy's abilities. And in this season of life, we feel a lot of life is not within in our immediate control.
Jesus' family had decided He had stepped past being Joseph's son and was far out of control with His Promises and Words. They had tried to collect Him to return to Nazareth previously. Prompting a response from the crowd, we would assume:
Luke 11:24-28
24 “When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it passes through waterless places seeking rest, and finding none it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ 25 And when it comes, it finds the house swept and put in order. 26 Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there. And the last state of that person is worse than the first.”
27 As he said these things, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts at which you nursed!”
28 But He said, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God
and keep it!”
Jesus knew God's Purpose for Him. Before Abraham, Jesus was.
Matthew 10:8
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons.
You received without paying; give without pay.
There are many parts of the Body of Christ. It's our responsibility, when we go home to Jesus, to know what portion of Life we've made better, where God has called us and we would do like Jacob/Israel and put our all in this.
Psalm 16:11
You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Proverbs 15:24
The path of life leads upward for the prudent, that he may turn away from Sheol beneath.
How will we discover the gifts and abilities He gives us to bring more Heaven to earth?
Proverbs 14:10
The heart knows its own bitterness, and no stranger shares in its joy.
Just as Jesus knew Zacchaeus, the widow of Nain needed Jesus to walk to her, Nathanael knew Jesus had seen his prayer, the woman from Samaria saw Jesus knew her entire life immediately, The blind men knew Jesus could tell they were blind and yelled all the more. The woman, who touched the fringe of His Robe, knew immediately the hidden portion of reaching for Jesus was finished.
Every day Jesus knew was part of His Plan.
Romans 10:9
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
How would we know if we are living God's purpose for us?
1 Corinthians 12
No one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit.
4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord;
6 and there are varieties of activities,
but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.
7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
8 For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.
11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.
So, how will we know what God empowers us and calls us to do? Consider two men. One leaves home to find the world and find his calling. Another gets in a scrape from theft and is set on the road by his mother. He is then in a weakened position and cheated by his uncle. Forced by another culture to take many wives. Disliked the gods this culture served. Risks being killed to go home, argues with God to hide his children and wives in particular order for some to be more safe and favored. Had been promised land, a son is killed, leaves his promise in starvation. By then he was quite old. And finds his son is alive and his family all lied.
The Prodigal Son set out to find his life and almost lost his life. Jacob became Israel and lives with circumstances always pressing him in unhappiness.
God. Is God. We end up living God's Plan. Love mercy over sacrifice. Give Justice with mercy. Walk humbly home. Walk humbly away from starvation. Walk humbly into massive Love. Walk humbly into the top of the world financially and culturally. Find loved ones alive. Find more Heaven on earth.
How? Waiting upon the Lord. Making each day count to the Lord's heart. Enjoy His Blessings by seeing those blessings and giving Thanks!
Abba, Father God,
Jesus has told us in Your Word, You are His Father and Our Father. Thank You.
When two or more are gathered, You are there. When we call on Jesus, He is there.
And in John's Gospel Chapters 16 and 17, Jesus prays for us. When we seek You, Father God and Call upon Jesus - we always pray together.
Father Dwell in us
and help us to be delightful to you.
Bless those we Love with Your Love in their lives.
Help us to seek You first
and we will finish well!
Finding more Heaven on earth.
Luke wrote of the prophets being long ago, You are as Vast as the Heavens and a Day to you is Thousands of Years. You are yesterday, today and tomorrow.
We turn again, to rejoice our heart, times of refreshing may come from the presence of You.
Continued healing.
We lift up the people we love, the people You have given to us with Love and the Nations and world who call upon You. Knowing in the Power of Your Word, we are upheld.
In Jesus the Lord. Amen.
