Luke 10:30-37
Jesus replied,
“A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a priest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. 32 So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.
33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 He went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 And the next day he took out two denarii[and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’
36 Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?”
37 He said, “The one who showed him mercy.”
And Jesus said to him,
“You go, and do likewise.”
Hebrews 10:24-25
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
We often see how Scripture repeats and helps us learn the Scripture with another example. And life will give us similar circumstances in 3s. Yesterday, we prayed for David, who suddenly passed on and his beloved family. The Loss we all felt with such a good artist, communicator and friend. David delighted in seeing life and finding more to share. Making the lives around him shine with him.
Today, I heard my friend Kurt, who is a retired Doctor, is in the hospital. I met, briefly, Kurt and his wife, while at Texas A&M University. And this was a memorable day for them, the day we met. Kurt and his wife began to date! Kurt is a Navy Doctor and served for many years. One day, 25 years ago, Kurt treated a man with a brain virus. The man died. Kurt caught the virus and his excellent, genius, interesting brain had years needed to recover from the virus. He would be retired within 15 years of medical practice. His wife sincerely created a wonderful place and person to recover. The medical community was surprised Kurt survived and had the ability to keep living and enjoying life.
I'd know Kurt for about 2 months before I recalled with him the day he and his wife dated, and we all met.
Kurt sat beside me for 3.5 years and worked Pro-Life, encouraging women to raise their babies. Pro-Life offered parenting lessons, bible studies, food, milk, baby supplies, maternity clothes, baby clothes, baby toys, learning tools and baby equipment for the studying mother to choose from her points. We always prayed with our clients and together.
This wonderful man and his wife are asking for prayers to discover what has happened to his brain. Virus, bacteria, tests haven't revealed the illness yet. But this man has done so much for his Church and Pro Life and those who know him. An excellent husband and father and grandfather. He always seems to be picked when something medical and unpleasant happens.
Very deserving of your prayers.
