2 Timothy 3:14-4:2

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it 15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the Sacred Writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 

16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

4 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, 

Who is to judge the living and the dead, 
and by His appearing and His Kingdom: 

Preach the Word; 

be ready in season and out of season;

 reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.

Edward and I had a conversation this weekend, remembering the ideas and circumstances of the prior generations.  How our generations saw the human condition and man's affection and loyalty.

We believe this generation has a such a very difficult life because circumstances have changed.  And is this true?  Households in the USA had widespread indoor plumbing in the 1950s. Across all the United States and in all counties and cities. Non-discriminating.  We talk a lot about the famous and their lives, but these people who have gained such wealth and fame, have come far. 

The reason we have torn down so many family homes is indoor plumbing. 

My large maternal family kept my great-grandmother, widowed for almost 60 years, in food and comfort by having lunch together for 62 years. Most of them had indoor plumbing, but I will say my great-grandmother's pretty house came down after her death at age 100. She was born after the Civil War. 

Because I come from honest and Christian people, I know my great-grandmother, who was a physical clone of my grandmother Anita, was an incredibly hard worker. She loved to garden, to farm, to clean, to sew, to cook and run her dry goods store, to have her family near her.  She had taken her 12 children (the first one died at age 2, prompting their large family) to her mother's quite a lot for joy.  And being a widow for so many decades, she tended to feel sorry for herself.  Prompting an argument of rare anger between them,  with my grandmother a few weeks before my great-grandmother's 100th Birthday. And ending with a renewed heart and joy.  The newspaper always said, "And a good time was had by all." Grandmother Anita remarked, "And a very large argument was had, to the good time to be had by all." Grandmother drove, immediately, for 3 days to have the argument.  For her elderly mother to have joy in her eldest daughter's 50th wedding anniversary, instead of snittyness.

We have a very wealthy 'ancestor', who said the neighbors didn't like him, his wife's family couldn't stand him, his Church had scads of divorces, the employees liked him, and he had empathy for them. But he said by and by, they liked him because they had to. Life circumstances can be very difficult. Caring for family and trying, trying, trying. His clubs tolerated him, mostly, he found them to be on the cruel end of personalities.  He found them all less than stellar or charitable. His advice was not to feel disappointed with life and not bitter or unhappy. To find life a time to speak to the Lord and find joy in what He brings.  His people in his life would have found his true nature to be a surprise. And this, he saw as his place in life.  Our 'ancestor' had lost a fortune, made a fortune, lost a fortune and made one again. He had very few friends, but those who had helped him and in that mutual loyalty, he counted himself blessed. But found some of them very wanting.  Unafraid to say what was what. And taking care of widows and orphans.

And now there are odd ideas of freedom, right and wrong. 

But not New Ideas.  Suddenly emerging after Game of Thrones captured the entertainment attention of the world. Eunuchs to serve and be of service, stripped of the possibility of family and the need to make a way in the world. 

Very truthfully, this is also the anger that, in the 1980s, people had a 1 in 6 chance of being sexually attacked. Today, it is 1 in 4. There is a condition of "unconscious revenge" on the small and innocent. As well as usury. Rip out the offending portions. Rip out the cause of harm. Then take the freedom of the child. Forever. Safe, secure and never a nursing home for the villain parent. 

When we look for Scripture verses about the helpless, we find ideas that only relate to and refer to sin and judgment. 

However,

When we toss out the idea that we are the helpless, we see further.

Life will go so much better, if,  we travel in the correct lanes.

Life as a parable for traffic. I like the analogy.

The frailty of human life:

James 4:14:

 "You do not know what tomorrow will bring. 

What is your life? 

For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes". 

God, Himself, gives human beings a Lane to stay in

In a time of virtue signaling and changing the parameters of real kindness
And in the method of our illustrous ancestor:

Human Judging

Luke 12:14

Jesus replied, "Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?"

Matthew 7:1

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged."

Romans 2:3

So when you, a mere human, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment?

Deuteronomy 27:19

“‘Cursed be anyone who perverts the justice due to the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow.’ And all the people shall say, ‘Amen.’

Luke 6:37

"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven."

James 1:27

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this:

 to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, 

and to keep oneself unstained

 from the world.

1 Timothy 2:1-15

First of all, then, 

I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings 

be made for all people, 

for kings and all who are in high positions, 

that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, 

godly and dignified in every way. 

This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 

Who desires 

all people 

to be saved and

 to come to.....

 the knowledge of the truth. 

For there is one God, 

and there is one mediator between God and men,

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you,

 because 

he trusts in you

Psalm 68:5 

Father of the fatherless and protector of widows 

is God 

in His Holy Habitation.

Hebrews 13:4

the Truth

By this, we may know that we are in Him

Rain shared instead of flood.

Removing drought.

instead of unusual cold

storms.
