1 Samuel 1
There was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim of the hill country of Ephraim whose name was Elkanah the son of Jeroham, son of Elihu, son of Tohu, son of Zuph, an Ephrathite. 2 He had two wives. The name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other, Peninnah. And Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.
3 Now this man used to go up year by year from his city to worship and to sacrifice to the Lord of hosts at Shiloh, where the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were priests of the Lord. 4 On the day when Elkanah sacrificed, he would give portions to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and daughters. 5 But to Hannah he gave a double portion, because he loved her, though the Lord had closed her womb.[a] 6 And her rival used to provoke her grievously to irritate her, because the Lord had closed her womb. 7 So it went on year by year. As often as she went up to the house of the Lord, she used to provoke her. Therefore Hannah wept and would not eat. 8 And Elkanah, her husband, said to her, “Hannah, why do you weep? And why do you not eat? And why is your heart sad? Am I not more to you than ten sons?”
9 After they had eaten and drunk in Shiloh, Hannah rose. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat beside the doorpost of the temple of the Lord. 10 She was deeply distressed and prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly. 11 And she vowed a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your servant and remember me and not forget your servant, but will give to your servant a son, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall touch his head.”
12 As she continued praying before the Lord, Eli observed her mouth.
13 Hannah was speaking in her heart; only her lips moved, and her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli took her to be a drunken woman. 14 And Eli said to her, “How long will you go on being drunk? Put your wine away from you.”
15 But Hannah answered, “No, my lord, I am a woman troubled in spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I have been pouring out my soul before the Lord. 16 Do not regard your servant as a worthless woman, for all along I have been speaking out of my great anxiety and vexation.”
17 Then Eli answered, “Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition that you have made to him.” 18 And she said, “Let your servant find favor in your eyes.” Then the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad.
19 They rose early in the morning and worshiped before the Lord; then they went back to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her. 20 And in due time Hannah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Samuel, for she said, “I have asked for him from the Lord.”
The Scripture passage of Hannah is problematic. And all about Blessings.
Today, we would probably ask the Lord for a Child and if we have a spare, then Eli the Priest could raise him. Immediately in I Samuel 1 we know we are facing The Prodigal Son, shines very brightly. God is going to put His Hands and Heart and Will, Millenniums will know infant to manhood Samuel.
Hannah does the work of mankind, she trusts the Lord. Hannah trusts God is so good, He will give all of Israel and the world the Light of mankind, Jesus Christ the Lord. David was guilty of sending the Ark of the Covenant away for the death, Uzzah, for touching the Ark. Hannah is blessed in Samuel, blessed in her Love in the Word of God for millenniums to see. Blessed in Samuel's place (Psalm 103) remembering his work for the Lord. Hannah is Blessed with her husband's love and Blessed with more children.
Hannah trusts the Lord for her children to be held, closely, dearly in His Heart.
Matthew 19
…4 Jesus answered, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ 5and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? 6So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.”
Hannah faces the eventuality of the Prodigal Son's Father. Jacob eventually found blessing in Jacob's son, Joseph. Hannah faces Mary saw Jesus move on to Capernaum to have His Father's Ministry. Peter's mother-in-law was healed, Peter, his wife and Mark went forth to do Jesus' work. Mary was moved to Ephesus with John the Disciple. Mary's sons and their wives traveled to proclaim the Good News in Jesus Christ. Hannah lands quickly in Blessings and Honor to give God what is His.
Romans 10:9
If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart
that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
John 1:12
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God
John 14:1
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me."
Romans 1:16
I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
Psalm 128
Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord,
who walks in his ways!
2 You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands;
you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.
3 Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
within your house;
your children will be like olive shoots
around your table.
4 Behold, thus shall the man be blessed
who fears the Lord.
5 The Lord bless you from Zion!
May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem
all the days of your life!
6 May you see your children's children!
Peace be upon Israel!
Ephesians 3
14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
