Boy with Loaves and Fish with Jesus, painted by Brian Jeckel
Jesus has fed us, the multitudes, for Millenniums
Matthew 14:13-21; Mark 6:31-44; Luke 9:12-17; John 6:1-14
Matthew 14:13-21
13 Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a desolate place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
15 Now when it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the day is now over; send the crowds away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves.”
16 But Jesus said, “They need not go away; you give them something to eat.”
17 They said to him, “We have only five loaves here and two fish.”
And he said, “Bring them here to me.”
Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass, and taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven and said a blessing. Then he broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.
20 And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the broken pieces left over.
21 And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
In the midst of His day, a day filled with requests, endless ideas of what they perceive God to be, ideas of what He should be, their joy, their pain, their trouble, Jesus acted lovingly.
So much need. So many requests. With God, He will find a way.
Israel was named for Jacob - who believed that blessings should be multiplied. Jesus lived this in John 6 - the boy with the fish, Jesus multiplied to feed thousands.
Matthew 9:36
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
It is us.
Jesus as the Son of God can speak a blessing over God's provision. How can we do less than?
Finding faith as we have, Give Us This Day.
The word of the Lord remains forever.
John 5:17
Jesus answered them, “My Father is working until now, and I am working.”
1 Thessalonians 2:13
And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.
Abba, Father,
Jesus is the Word of God made Manifest. Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.
How this day to work to have faith?
We are the Easter People. We are the Prodigal Children. Receiving God's Mercy undeserved. We Love because He first Loved us.
Your compassion for us
Your Love for us
opens our hearts to You,
Abba.
In You, we live, move and have our being.
In You, each day we are renewed.
In our prayers, we find Your Assurance.
In faith, we look and with Your Help find
our Blessings.
You have fed us with all
the Holy Spirit
and Your mysteries.
Open our hearts to Your Love
fill us with Your Mercy.
Dwell in those we Love
and hearts are open.
Quiet us in this chaotic season
and this season is Overcome
with Jesus Christ.
In You, we will rest, renew,
dream again for Your Hope
and Your Future.
With all Your Promises
we will finish well, Abba.
Nations will again arise and arrive in Your Greatness.
The Word of God is forever.
The Name of Jesus Christ, Son of God
Cover us and this Nation
and we are Blessed.
Amen Jesus.
