Psalm 105:1-9
Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon His Name
Make known His deeds among the peoples!
Sing to Him, sing praises to Him;
tell of all His wondrous works!
3 Glory in His Holy Name
Let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
Seek the Lord and His Strength;
seek His presence continually!
5 Remember the wondrous works that He has done,
His miracles, and the judgments He uttered
O offspring of Abraham, his servant,
children of Jacob, His chosen ones!
He is the Lord our God;
His judgments are in all the earth.
8 He remembers His covenant forever,
the word that He commanded, for a thousand generations,
the covenant that He made with Abraham,
His sworn promise to Isaac
One of the aspects of Easter I think about, fairly often, is the Law meets Jesus. These men aren't supposed to leave personalities in History. The Law acts as a perfect unit. And in the Roman Empire, if one steps out of line in the military, they turn on one another and decimate each other. One stabs every ten or fewer, in the count-down, and falls down dead forever. There isn't room for fear in the Law bringing. Nor room with hysterics. Just march along like a machine. Find someone to carry the Cross for Jesus. Not step out of formation to allow compassion to flow. Be the Law. Be the Dignitas of the Roman Legion Military Machine.
And we know now from studies of human nature, if you subject mankind to forces of nature he doesn't exist with, human personality and emotion will become part of the fabric of the Law Bringers.
Soldiers saw the multitudes arrive. Not Soldiers' favorite thing. Mob surrounding Soldiers. Earthquake, Darkness, the Rock of Golgotha splits. And the Soldiers broke rank to proclaim Jesus both innocent and the Son of God. Nahum 2 says God only destroys the very wicked once. There is no second chance.
These men are the people traveling the Roman Empire, who will go home to Rome with what they've seen. They have helped Jesus, through dictate by Simon of Cyrene, to carry the cross. And seen Him and believed Him. Honored Jesus at the very end.
They march to the Tomb and expect a quiet night. And flee.
Jesus is the Light of the world. LIGHT. Now. We just know what the Soldiers saw to run fast and far.
The Shroud of Turin has had many examinations. One very public one in the 80s said this was from the Renaissance. The renowned scientists gathered, again, to test the absolute middle of the Shroud, upon history revealing the edges of the Shroud were patched in the Renaissance. And in the center of the shroud, they found the fabric was first century and had radiation, unexplained. Light. Light of the world. Light of mankind. Light of Heaven. Light of nations. He knows the Heavenly Host by Name. Spain says they have the Shroud's Headpiece and this, also, has Radiation.
Let There Be Light
Psalm 18
In my distress I called upon the Lord;
to my God I cried for help.
From His Temple He heard my voice,
and my cry to Him reached His Ears.
Why would God choose men who fell out of rank, being the Army of Law? What they Witnessed.
Jesus. Jesus is all about Mercy over sacrifice. Jesus told us He longs to hold us like a Mother Chick, with her loved ones under her wing. Jesus did not say He wanted His Beloved marching like ducks in a row. Unit a, b, c, d march all are the same. Jesus tells us we have a variety of gifts. For His Glory.
Jesus and Abba chose the Disciples. The Disciples are much more like popcorn opera than marching ducks. Really, the Disciples are always making the Chapter more human and flawed than Celestial Angels singing Holy, Holy, Holy Worthy is the Lamb. The Roman Soldiers were not taken down by Legions of Angels, instead they went forth to tell about Jesus. God's Mercy carries forth. Exactly like, God has a Robust Plan!
Jesus believed His Brothers would be Acts 1 and 2. He didn't harass them. Jesus understood them and He gave them time and room.
He remembers His covenant forever,
the word that He commanded, for a thousand generations,
the covenant that He made with Abraham,
His sworn promise to Isaac
When we say Jesus was before Abraham, we remember Abraham didn't roll out being a Fig Newton out of a box or warehouse of Fig Newtons. Abraham let his half-sister be kidnapped by a king. Let Sarah talk him into being with a slave, who didn't want Abraham or to be left in the desert to die with her son. The Scriptures make clear God is the One who is Good.
3000 Years after Abraham lived in Hebron, God is delivering His Promise to every generation.
When we acknowledge ourselves to be flawed as the Disciples and Believe Jesus loves who we are. We Glory in His Holy Name, and in our hearts find the Joy of Love. The Joy of the Lord is my strength and my song.
Abba, Father,
Blessed are You, Lord Father our God,
Blessed is Your Son, Jesus.
We ask You to put Your Name,
"Jesus"
upon us
and say, "I will Bless them."
The Lord bless you and keep you
The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you
The Lord lift up His countenance upon you
and give you peace.
Let Your Heavenly Kingdom come,
Let Your Will be done,
on earth
as in Heaven.
Thank You for Your Son's Life,
He has given us immeasurably more
than all we ask or imagine,
according to His power that is at work within us,
To our Father and Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit,
be the glory in the church and
in Christ Jesus throughout all generations,
forever and ever. Amen
Thank You, Jesus, Father and Holy Spirit!
Psalm 33:15
He made their hearts, so he understands everything they do.
The Maker of hearts also knows how to remake hearts.
Open hearts, change hearts.
We pray in the Highest Name of Jesus,
Amen.
