Acts 6:1-7
Now in these days when the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint by the Hellenists arose against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution.
2 And the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples and said, “It is not right that we should give up preaching the Word of God to serve tables. 3 Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty. 4 But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word.”
5 And what they said pleased the whole gathering, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch. 6 These they set before the apostles, and they prayed and laid their hands on them.
7 And the Word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith.
When we consider the verses, we first find conflict. Making way for the desire of even and just treatment. This is put to the test. The whole gathering is pleased. Immediately … we find the Miracle of God. The Holy Spirit is at work!
In Truth,
they were working the Word of God, the Will of God's Plan
for mankind's salvation and the Scriptures Jesus Christ fulfilled.
A miraculous time set for the growth of the Church for almost 2 thousand years.
And having reached a solution,
We discover what follows miracles are opportunities. Then, realistically, priorities for other opportunities must be planned for. It isn't just seeds tossed wildly into the wind, but human decisions for priorities. For more opportunities. Logistics instead of hay seed abandonment.
Elijah was assumed into Heaven. And immediately opportunites were presented given by God appeared for Elisha. He also had to decide the scope of his own unique calling by God. The Scriptures reveal mistakes of Elijah and, yet, the Scripture, the Word of God manifest in Jesus Christ, does not continue with harsh reminders. Not even when the mistakes are discussed in the Gospel with Jesus, John and his brother James. No one is fired.
All of this was accomplished by variable speed in the decision-thinking of mankind. Their stability came with prayer and laying on of hands.
No trumpet sounded.
Angels were not standing by, looking up, to give God's Word of Wisdom.
Instead, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit began The Work of God in mankind. Like the Book of Esther. Humankind was trying to do the small deeds to help God and find, smoothly and without fanfare, God was helping them.
Is it a boring or unimportant set of verses?
We live by every word of God
And these Words, in these Scripture Verses, are the encouragement of the Holy Spirit in the attempts we make to have a go of the work God puts in front of our hands, mind, Spirit and Heart.
Welcome, Jesus Christ.
Welcome Holy Spirit.
John 3:8
The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes.
So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
Mark 4:39
And He awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea,
“Peace! Be still!”
And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Ephesians 4:14
So that we may no longer be children,
tossed to and fro by the waves
and
carried about by every wind of doctrine,
by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.
Acts 2:1-4
When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place.
And suddenly
there came from Heaven
a sound like a mighty rushing wind,
and
it filled the entire house where they were sitting.
And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them
and
rested on each one of them.
And
they were all filled with the Holy Spirit
and
began to speak in other tongues
as the Spirit
gave
them utterance.
Psalm 91:1-16
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will
abide
in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord,
“My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
For He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
and
from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with His Pinions,
and
under His wings you will find refuge;
His faithfulness is a shield and buckler.
You will not fear the terror of the night,
nor the arrow that flies by day
