BBC
The young survivor, 10-year-old Weston Halsne, explained to CBS affiliate station WCCO that his friend saved him from bullets by lying on top of him.
"I was like two seats away from the stained glass window," he said. "My friend, Victor, saved me though, because he laid on top of me, but he got hit."
He continued: "My friend got hit in the back, he went to the hospital... I was super scared for him, but I think now he's okay."
Weston said he and his classmates were well-drilled in what to do in a shooting situation - but not in the environment in which they found themselves. "We practice it every month, but not in church, only in the school," he said.
The Heroic Victor
WILL FULLY RECOVERY
Thank God.
Proverbs 10:6
Blessings crown the head of the righteous,
but
violence overwhelms
the mouth of the wicked.
I watched my step-grandfather Tate, a 52 year Episcopalian Priest, our step-grandfather, take care of parishioners and step to the side, during family visits, to talk with people for as long as he felt the need was present. He would return to the family in strength and tell us the situation was very hard and difficult. He always wanted those in the gap of life to know he was present and available. To help.
Tate was loving and interested in almost every subject. Including politics, saying it was the present voice of the culture. He never expected us to be anything but ourselves.
The days of the unfathomable violence upon mere children is just pure evil.
To say gun control is the answer brings up another family situation within my own family.
Our eldest son was invited by his Law School Professor to go to Japan for summer cultural Law School Exchanges. Our son loved Japan and the helpfulness of the Japanese. Cal loved their Baseball games and ways to be helpful to one another. And he found out, to his surprise, Japan has massive violent attacks frequently. They also have gun control. And sometimes the death toll can be higher than 50 murdered. Machetes, knives or swords.
The answer isn't to villainize the weapon chosen.
The answer is to engage people as they truly are.
We live in a historic time philosophy studies why the colder the culture, the more readiness of the culture to have a pandemic or plague. Philosophers wonder if the cultural illness creates physical illness. Then the ensuing policies of blame are always illogical and carried madly by the whole of society.
Historians think of plague times when authoritarian government seeks to have loss of freedom and directed harshly, as one of the symptoms of plague madness recovery.
Social media asked us to pray for Father Dennis Zehren.
The Priest of The Catholic Church of the Annunciation, Minneapolis, MN.
Father Dennis Zehren faces hours of seeing innocence torn into.
His task is to be Loving and teach the children this is a world with trouble. To have enough faith to believe God's Good is stronger than evil. It is so very difficult to raise our eyes in faith, fearing monsters will attack, if we are not at the ready to be safe and secure.
Faith enables us to treat each other honestly, fairly.
Faith enables us not to become violent as the violence of evil would hope.
Evil hopes to spread and increase evil. Loosen the boundaries. To be safer, evil would reason. Faith asks us to trust today to the Lord and believe He will reward the faithful.
The Prodigal Son has time. Time to come to faith gently. Time for the father to sell the land. Time for the son to travel to fall many levels. Faith from the father, the son will return with his reason. Time for the older brother to heal. Patience and time.
Recovery allows those who have suffered tragedy and violence to trust again. Not to become the villain, but to be the one living and able to look up, trusting not to have the blow from behind.
Matthew 11:12
From the days of John the Baptist
until
now
The Kingdom of Heaven
has suffered
violence,
and
the violent take it by force.
For everyone
who has been born of God
overcomes the world.
And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one
who believes
that
Jesus is the Son of God?
6 This is He who came by water
and blood—Jesus Christ;
not by the water only
but by the water
and
the blood.
And The Spirit is the One who testifies,
because
The Spirit is the truth.
Numbers 6 ~ So shall they put My Name, Jesus, upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them
Abba, Father,
Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
for He has visited and redeemed His people
and has raised up a horn of salvation for us
in the house of His servant David
As He spoke by the mouth of His Holy Prophets from of old,
that we should be saved from our enemies
and
from the hand of all who hate us;
to show the mercy promised to our fathers
and to remember His Holy Covenant
The oath that He swore to our father Abraham,
to grant us
that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies,
might serve Him
without fear
In holiness and righteousness before Him
all our days.
And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High;
for you will go before the Lord to prepare His ways,
Father Dennis Zehren
to give knowledge of salvation to His people
in the forgiveness of their sins,
because of the tender mercy
of our God.
Whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high
to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the way of peace.
We pray for the Nation
suffering this storm,
God's Mercy and Blessings.
For all our families!
Matthew 6
2 “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret.
And your Father who sees in secret
will reward you.
Blessed be the Highest Name
of Jesus Christ
Bless the Holy Spirit as the
Light of mankind
Light of the Nations
Light of Heaven
Blessed be our Father
bringing us His exact nature
in Jesus Christ,
Lamb of God
Savior of the world
Forever
and ever.
Alleluia Amen!
