Psalm 54
To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments.
A Maskil of David, when the Ziphites went and told Saul,
“Is not David hiding among us?”
O God, save me by
Your Name,
and
vindicate me by Your might.
2 O God, hear my prayer;
give ear to the words of my mouth.
3 For strangers have risen against me;
ruthless men seek my life;
they do not set God before themselves.
Selah
4 Behold,
God is my Helper;
the Lord is the upholder of my life.
5 He will return the evil to my enemies;
in Your faithfulness
put an end to them.
6 With a freewill offering
I will sacrifice to You;
I will give thanks to your name, O Lord,
for it is good.
7 For He has delivered me
from every trouble,
and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies.
Proverbs 31:21
She is not afraid of snow for her household,
for all her household are clothed in scarlet.
The virtuous woman is diligent and strategic.
She looks ahead and sees the needs that are coming,
so she can prepare for them in advance
and be ready when they arrive.
David could not prepare for the turning of his father-in-law's spirit against him.
King Saul was said to have an evil spirit and David played the harp to soothe Saul.
1 Samuel 16. Not much could be done to prepare for disaster.
This is the time of year, for trudging along. Too warm.
Not so excited. Just making the motions. Yes.
And yet, to hear or read the Psalms in numerical order, is to find a soul crying out to God in the difficult years. Homelessness, political persecution, living in a ditch, kidnapping, mercenary followers and mercenary work. David had every reason in the world to live a life of depression. And David took his hardships very hard.
David is one of the most inspirational sources of faith in the Bible. He teaches us to live in the terrible, fierce grip of disaster. And to let it go when the disaster is accomplished.
To believe in God to rouse ourselves again. And in songs, David loves to see ascension. And in ceremony of songs, the singers will climb the stairs and ascend.
Fight!
To fight the negative memories and situations, David finds he gives the sacrifice of Thanksgiving. And he plans for his worship to uplift and encourage. David turns his life completely around to have faith in God. He uplifts and heals. David nourishes others with the Good News.
John 16:33
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble.
But take heart! I have overcome the world
Luke 4:18-20
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because He has anointed me
to proclaim
good news to the poor.
He has sent me
to proclaim liberty
to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty
those who are oppressed
The point being...
we have to feed our soul
hope and hopeful
goodness
seek goodness
even scratch the soil
to put good in.
And in putting good in...
we will reap the goodness we feed
our heart
our soul
our mind
and
Please The Lord.
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true,
whatever is honorable,
whatever is just,
whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely,
whatever is commendable,
if there is any excellence,
if there is anything worthy of praise,
think about these things.
When I worked with ProLife
we had so many people praise us for
suggesting Christian Music
to uplift
reaffirm
strengthen
and give Joy and Love.

Last week, Edward and I sat in the backyard during an upcoming rainstorm, miles away. It was August 2025 in Texas and at noon, it was 72'. As we sat looking at the garden of flowers potted due to Poodle traffic, the wind kicked up. And suddenly White Natchez Crepe Myrtle blossoms flew all over us, the flower beds, the Poodles.
“Look, Edward! Summer snow with Crepe Myrtle Blossoms!” And then we sat and enjoyed the sight until the rain blew in. August! In Texas!
This week. Not so much. The end of the summer Crepe Myrtle blossoms. One flower bed looks terrible due to sprinkler failure. It's hot. My stomach sort of hurt. We have dogs who are letting us know summer temperatures do not stop due to human foyables.
And then, this week.
In the middle of our green, green yard, we began to see yellow Crepe Myrtle leaves
begin to fall. And collect. The garden knows the sun is changing.
As the weather cools, we will have another set of flowers, rejoicing in the relenting of summer temperatures. I love to see the bright green of Autumn.
Even the cat would prefer a little tiny portion of Autumn. Tongue-out Thursday.
Abba, Father,
In the summer.
we can be weary of the heat.
Let's approach this,
with Your Help,
again,
with new eyes seeing
Blessings.
Possibilities.
Hope.
Praying for everyone
to have
Peace.
Dwell in me,
Dwell in us,
Dwell in those we Love,
Help us to seek You first.
And we will finish well,
in Jesus Christ.
Help us seek and find
and bring,
to become,
more Heaven
to this earth.
Your Mercy,
Oh Lord,
is
Precious to us.
Thank You
And in Jesus - This Hope.
Faith and Love - we will rise up Believing Jesus.
Amen
