Luke 9:52-56 ~ make preparations for HIM

 

Luke 9:52-56

 52 And He sent messengers ahead of Him

Who went and entered a village of the Samaritans, to make preparations for Him. 

53 But the people did not receive Him, because His Face was set toward Jerusalem. 54 And when His Disciples James and John saw it, they said, “Lord, do you want us to tell fire to come down from Heaven and consume them?” 

But He turned and rebuked them. 

56 And they went on to another village.

Jesus is inclusive. Light of the world.  Jesus seeks to save. 

No one is like Jesus Christ. Elijah called down fire on the wood, soaked with water, and the fire killed the Baal priests. 

The Samaritans want Jesus to stay and be the God of the maligned. Victory for Samaritans.  James and John want Jesus to be within the Words of the Law. And within their own understanding.  Victory for the Sons of Thunder.  Fire from the Cloud. Victory for Thunder. 

Case in point for, "Thy Will Be Done."

Jesus is the Word made Manifest. Jesus wants the Samaritans, James and John and the Light of God in mankind to be welcome at His Table.  The people see the door shut with a victorious slam. Jesus sees the path a head. Solutions. Possibilities. Gather at the table. 

Jesus goes to another town. 

He is leading the way for a more stable future, where Love has a place, a plan, for faith, hope and Love.

The Vice President Debates were the very first foot forward in reducing the one voice, one opinion of Cold War.  Finding the common goal and being honest. Truthful. Genuine. A parent with children knowing exactly what the upcoming generation wants to live and bring to their children.

We all want the nod of Worldwide Peace and common goals.

John 14:27 

Peace I leave with you; 

my peace I give to you. 

Not as the world gives do I give to you. 

Let not your hearts be troubled, 

neither let them be afraid.

John 16:33 

I have said these things to you, 

that in me you may have peace. 

In the world you will have tribulation. 

But take heart; 

I have overcome the world.

John 8:12 

 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, 

“I am the Light of the world. 

Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness, 

but will have the Light of Life.”

John 1:5 

The Light shines in the darkness, 

and the darkness has not overcome it.

Psalm 119:105

 

Your Word is a Lamp to my feet 

and 

A Light to my path.

1 John 1:7

If we walk in the Light, 

as He is in the Light, 

we have fellowship with one another, 

and the blood of Jesus his Son 

cleanses us from all sin.

But you are a chosen race, 

a royal priesthood, 

a holy nation, 

a people for His own possession, 

that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him 

Who called you 

out of darkness 

into His Marvelous Light.

Matthew 5:16 

In the same way, let your Light 

shine before others,

 so that they may see your good works 

and give glory to your Father 

Who is in Heaven.

Longue Vue was established in 1921 as the family home of Edith Rosenwald Stern and Edgar Bloom Stern. In 1980, the family bequeathed the entire eight-acre property to become a nonprofit museum and public garden. Longue Vue is open to the public year-round for tours, programs, picnics, and retreats and is committed to cultivating a space of welcome and belonging for all.

The eye of Hurricane Katrina went over Longue Vue in 2005. I was watching Monty Don this week, exploring American Gardens. Longue Vue's Head Gardener said they had 7 full-time gardeners before Katrina. And 2 after Katrina, due to Housing flooded. In 2 years, they knew recovery. In 7 years, they saw "full" Recovery.  All 42 Oaks survived the river running through Longue Vue with diligent care.

Abba, Father,

Praise the LORD, 

O my soul;

and crowns you

With Your Help, 

believing all things work together 

for those who Love You.

With Your Help

 and to love mercy

 and to walk humbly with You, our God.

Help us to seek You first.

And we will finish well, in Jesus Christ. 

Help us find and bring

to become

 more Heaven

to this earth.

And the Nations of the world,

Your Good Creation,

Calling upon You.

The safety of Your people.

The safety of those

helping the earth 

to heal.

Let evil and practicing evil

depart far from us

and our children.

The Healing

of the Nation

and earth.

And in Jesus - this Hope, 

Faith and Love - we will rise up believing Jesus.
