Psalm 75
We give thanks to you, O God;
we give thanks, for Your Name is near.
We recount Your wondrous deeds.
2 “At the set time that I appoint
I will judge with equity.
3 When the earth totters, and all its inhabitants,
it is I who keep steady its pillars.
Selah
4 I say to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’
and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horn;
5 do not lift up your horn on high,
or speak with haughty neck.’”
6 For not from the east or from the west
and not from the wilderness comes lifting up,
7 but it is
God
Who executes judgment,
putting down one and lifting up another.
For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup
with foaming wine, well mixed,
and
He pours out from it,
and
all the wicked of the earth
shall drain it down to the dregs.
9 But I will declare it forever;
I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
10 All the horns of the wicked I will cut off,
but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up.
In a time of Post Plague Recovery, in shrinking savings and increasing hopes, what can we find in nature?
The Churches finding reasons for faith, in solid belief, have seen 2 and 3% growth beyond the 2019, before Covid lockdown numbers.
Glaciers? Mount St Helen's crater glacier is at a higher elevation and is growing.
Lifting up a horn on high:
Bruce Molnia of the U.S. Geological Survey in Reston, Virginia, just flew over southern Alaska, taking photographs of glaciers in a project in which he compares images of glaciers to those from the past.
Molnia said glaciers that are above about 10,000 feet in elevation don’t change much because the temperature there stays cold.
In his recent flights along the coast of Alaska, Molnia said he did see a few advancing glaciers, and some of those are growing.
Hubbard Glacier north of Yakutat is one of them.
Truffer and others say Hubbard is a tidewater glacier in the advancing phase of an advance-and-retreat cycle. The cycles of glaciers that calve into the sea are dependent upon dynamics of the sea floor and other complicated elements.
Way up there:
Nutrient Cycling:
As glaciers melt, they release important nutrients like iron that fertilize ecosystems and support the base of food webs, such as phytoplankton blooms.
NASA reports the planet has never looked more green:
Carbon Dioxide Fertilization Greening Earth, Study Finds
Karl B. Hille
From a quarter to half of Earth’s vegetated lands has shown significant greening over the last 35 years largely due to rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, according to a new study published in the journal Nature Climate Change.
An international team of 32 authors from 24 institutions in eight countries led the effort, which involved using satellite data from NASA’s Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectrometer and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer instruments to help determine the leaf area index, or amount of leaf cover, over the planet’s vegetated regions. The greening represents an increase in leaves on plants and trees equivalent in area to two times the continental United States.
NASA calls this phenomenon called “global greening,” areas of vegetation are expanding, primarily due to increased carbon dioxide levels and human activities like agricultural practices.
This greening has several potential benefits, including a potential slowing of global warming and increased carbon sequestration. Next, more testing will be done on the earth's greening and the impact on biodiversity and regional climate patterns.
Do we do this in our lives when one door closes and we look for the door to open?
Yes, during Covid lockdowns, we couldn't go to Church or School or work. Yet, Home Depot did not have a parking space as humanity rushed to find a parking space at Home Depot. Vacations were cancelled, but Home Improvement became a passion.
It is the same in the South when a snow day is announced. The Shopping Mall has a banner day.
Psalm 121:1-2
A Song of Ascents.
I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
Matthew 6:33
Seek first the kingdom of God
and
His righteousness,
and all these things will be added to you.
Psalm 3:3-4
You, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory,
and the lifter of my head.
I cried aloud to the Lord,
and
He answered me from His Holy Hill.
Selah
